Ho Yay / Rozen Maiden

Go To

  • Rozen Maiden actually shoehorns Ho Yay in one of its drama CDs between Laplace's Demon and Detective freaking Kun-Kun. This is wrong on so, so, many levels.
  • Suigintou and Megu for a long time. Though, at the end of the manga they end up confessing their love for each other.
    • A good chunk of inner conflict for Suigintou throughout the manga is how Megu wants her to use up her lifeforce so she can die, but Suigintou can't bring herself to do it.
    • Megu calls Suigintou her "angel".
    • Suigintou collapses outside of the hospital after a fight and Megu, who by all means should not be outside of her room nonetheless the hospital itself, rushes to her aid. As one of Suigintou's wings is broken and she is unable to sleep in her case, she instead sleeps with Megu.
    • Perhaps edging more toward Ship Tease territory, after a while of trying to get Suigintou to make a contract with her, Suigintou and Megu finally make the contract. Megu drapes cloth around them and as Suigintou puts the ring of contract on Megu's hand, Megu recites wedding vows.
    • Kirakishou abducts Megu and Suigintou begins a frantic search for her. Even Shinku is impressed by the level of concern she can see Suigintou under.
    • There's a scene where Shinku and Souseiseki are talking about Megu and both agree that Megu is the "key to Suigintou". This, after they discuss how important Megu's effect on Suigintou is. Heck, Souseiseki actually seems envious of their relationship.
    • In Tale 63, Megu, fused with Kirakishou, forcibly takes Rosa Mystica, hurting her, and Suigintou rushes in to stop her. However, Megu traps Suigintou by impaling her in rib-like protrusions and crystals from her chest. As Suigintou dies, they confirm their romantic feelings for each other. Then, Suigintou finally gives Megu her wish and she stabs Megu through with her feathers. The two die as the world around them falls apart.
  • Megu towards Tomoe in Girls Talk. Megu gets incredibly touchy with Tomoe and asks her if she's dated anyone yet.
  • Kaito Toriumi can be a bit overbearing with Jun, especially over their shared interests. It doesn't help that both of them remark that they want to be like the other and that Jun is quick to invite the kid over.
  • In the lightnovel Die Zwillinge, Clara dresses Souseiseki up in Jeanne d'Arc's outfit. Suiseiseki and Souseiseki both remark that Clara looks drunk the way she's blushing over Souseiseki.
  • In Rot-Schwarz during a flashback regarding Suigintou and her previous master, Mary Shelley, there's mention of Lord Byron and Dr. Polidori embracing on a bench. Actually a bit of Truth in Television as at least Lord Byron did historically have interest in men.
  • Hana and Souseiseki, especially on Hana's part.
    • Hana essentially steals Souseiseki from her workplace, telling herself she's just watching over the doll until the owner comes to claim her, but really she just wants to look at the handsome doll. She even says that Souseiseki looks like "the prince of her dreams".
    • Hana blushes hard when Souseiseki greets her for the first time. When the young master barges in to demand that Souseiseki make the contract with him Hana is quick to object and proclaims that she has picked Souseiseki.
    • Hana blushes hard again when Souseiseki kisses Hana's ring to form the contract.
    • Souseiseki is almost too eager to listen to Hana's orders. There's panels where she smiles warmly at Hana even, something that's usually fairly rare for her to do.
    • The entire kidnapping part between them. While investigating Souseiseki convinces Hana to let her change out of her disguise by... looking very cute and pathetic, causing Hana to sweat and blush. Hana looses any nerve she had about it and begrudgingly lets Souseiseki go off to change. Souseiseki is kidnapped before she can get back and the group is unable to find her. The next morning Hana is seen worrying about her. When they get her back Hana comments how disappointed she is that the eyepatch covering Souseiseki's now-missing eye is too masculine for her. She tells Souseiseki to listen to her next time and Souseiseki, looking contemplative and cute, blushes and apologizes. Hana takes this fairly well all things considered.
    • In Floor 16 Souseiseki stops the group so she can give Hana a rose from the roses in the Miniature Garden. While doing so she explains the importance of the place it was grown in to her.
    • Floor 18. Hana tells Souseiseki that she loves her! Souseiseki's reaction is barely shown, but it's clear that she's blushing in shock.
    • Floor 24. After Suiseiseki falls apart, Souseiseki begs Hana for guidance and Hana tells her not to worry. When Souseiseki receives the song to wake the sleeping real Suiseiseki, Hana seems impressed by her voice and is the first to join in. The two are seen holding hands as they sing together.
  • Kiku and Suiseiseki. The two sleep together in Kiku's bed for a while until Suiseiseki gets her case back.
    • Floor 18 might as well have given them a Relationship Upgrade. Kiku makes good on the promise she and Suiseiseki made in the first chapter and shouts her feelings from the top of the 12 Stories. Her feelings? That she has feelings for Suiseiseki! Suiseiseki was not expecting this.
    • In Floor 19 Suiseiseki tells Hinaichigo and Kanaria what she thinks of Kiku. She seems bashful about Kiku's flaws at first but then boasts that she "likes" Kiku and that Kiku "loves" her.
    • Floor 20 has Suiseiseki inform Kiku that she has recovered her case and that she will no longer sleep with Kiku. She does add that if Kiku really wants to, she'll make the occasional exception.
    • Floor 24. Kiku tells the sleeping Suiseiseki how much her time with her has meant and begs her to wake up. It works, and Suiseiseki even remembers her still.
