Heartwarming / Rick and The Loud House

Go To

Spoilers Off applies to all Heartwarming pages, so all spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned!

Both of the component series have their fair share of Heartwarming moments, so it's no surprise that the fic has a few of its own.

  • The tone of the fic in general, compared to Rick's home series. While the fic doesn't shy away from many of Rick and Morty's darker elements, even making the Louds' lives Darker and Edgier in turn, it goes both ways. A few of Rick's adventures end on a less gruesome or grim note than in canon. Rick also treats the Louds a bit better than the Smiths... relatively speaking.
    • On the other side of the coin, Rick's antics and their fallout has forced most of the Loud children to go through Character Development much faster than in The Loud House. Especially notable is Lori frequently standing up to Rick whenever she believes her family is in jeopardy.
  • In Lawnmower Dog, Charles/Spot attempts to enslave humanity, but Lana and Lincoln are spared and kept as pets because they were nicest to him. He even goes broke trying to get them treated, though that only takes place in a dream.
    • Relatedly, he can't bring himself to threaten Leni, citing her as being too pure for this world when she innocently misinterprets his actions.
  • In Heavy Meddling With The Anatomy, after Rick defies the girls' assumption that Lincoln's bully is in love with him, he tells Lincoln that he and the parents will help him.
Rick: Alright Lincoln. This is what you gotta do. Y-you gotta go up to this girl's face, tell her exactly how you feel, then tell her to cut the crap. If she's still bullying you after that, me and your parents will take it to school. And trust me, they-they'll listen to what I have to say.
    • In a strange way, there's also the fact that he chose Ronnie Ann as the host for Anatomy Park because he saw her bullying Lincoln before. Though he was drunk at the time.
  • Driving Miss Hazy With Mr. Meeseeks has Leni's friendship with Mr. Meeseeks. Even when he's in excruciating pain, Mr. Meeseeks can't find it in himself to get too upset with Leni. On a similar note, the chapter ends with her on the receiving end of a Pet the Dog moment from Rick, of all people after she gets her license.
Lincoln: Oh come on Grandpa Rick, can't you just be happy for Leni?
Rick: No I can't just be happy for Leni... Because I'm also proud of Leni! Wubba lubba dub dubs!
  • As a bit of silver lining, the Louds get to make amends for their various fallings out once they arrive in the new universe at the end of L is for Love Potion, Part 2, including Luna asking out Sam properly this time. Sadly it goes right back to Tearjerker when Luan gets rejected in this universe.
  • Rick awkwardly trying to console Luna at the beginning of For Bros About to Rock. He even tries to buy Luna a Smooch ticket, even after Lincoln yells at her to leave.
    • Rick getting his bandmates Birdperson and Squanchy to free Lincoln, Luna and Clyde from mall jail and joining them at the concert is also nice.
  • In Citadel of Ricks, Doofus Rick tries to cheer Leni up after the other Ricks make fun of her by introducing her to an alternate Lisa he'd adopted. The three of them become fast friends.
    • During the Syngenesophobia cameo, the Rick of that universe is scolding the sisters for what they did to Lincoln.
    • The chapter ends with Rick and Lisa assuring Leni that they don't think she's stupid.
  • At the end of Fandom Assimilation, Rick's Happily Failed Suicide isn't achieved by accident, but because Lana innocently barged in to pester Rick about fixing up the cruiser. Rick appreciates the distraction.
  • The entire B-plot of Getting Schwifty With House Music is Lori going on an adventure with Mr. Poopybutthole to make up for shooting him in the previous chapter. She doesn't even need to, since Mr. Poopybutthole already forgives her, but she insists.
  • Rickall of Duty has Lisa and Lana reconciling after arguing for most of the chapter. In addition, Lisa convinces Rick to use a different miniature universe to power the cruiser, sparing Zeep Xanflorp from his canon fate of existential despair.
    • This comes back up when Zeep joins Lisa's team in Racing Hearts. While he and Rick are still enemies, it comes across as more of a case of Sitcom Arch-Nemesis.
    • Taken even further in No Such Thing As Luck when it's revealed that they were mostly faking their rivalry in Racing Hearts to keep Lynn from suspecting that they were working together to make sure Lincoln can save the day.
  • In Look Who's Spelling It Out Now, Lincoln's Big Brother Instinct towards Lucy is on full display, showing deep concern for Lucy's new attitude, standing up to the Old Writer, killing one of the attacking aliens to save her life, and assuring her that she matters to him even if she thinks nothing matters.
  • At the end of The Dead House, Rick builds artificial bodies for the ghosts of the former Loud children to live with.
  • Lola takes it especially hard during the fallout of Bird Person's wedding, so Rick lets her sit on his lap while he pilots the ship.
  • While Rick snarks his way through his introduction to the Casagrande family, he acts kind to CJ.
  • Just like in his show, Rick makes it clear how little he thinks of superheroes. Still, he's willing to put that aside in Vindicators 3: Deal Me Out to ask the Vindicators if they can help find Lynn while she's missing. Unfortunately, it doesn't work out...
  • Downplayed, but Rick and the President's feud is ended a lot more cleanly in The Rickchurian Loudidate than in the corresponding RM episode.
  • When Rick met Sid, he gave her the butter-passing robot. In Four of Clubs, it's shown that she held onto it and tried to solve its existential crisis by turning it into a fighting robot. It quickly goes down the drain, but it was good of her to try.
  • In One Crew Over the Crewcoo's Lynn, Lucy is concerned for Lynn when she tromps into their room and starts crying. Lynn quickly yells at her to leave, but at least Lucy tried. She also respected Lynn's need for privacy and left her alone.
  • Despite the fact that she essentially hijacked the world to get here, Lynn's primary goal in No Such Luck is to spend time with Lincoln, finding a sport they can both enjoy. Sadly it doesn't work, but it's a nice gesture. Especially compared to the contentious episode this chapter is named after.
  • In No Such Thing as Luck, as Lincoln hides with Mr.Grouse, Maggie, Carol, and Darcy, he continues to doubt himself over his helpfulness. Grouse in particular reminds Lincoln of the plane tickets he bought for him for Christmas to see his family in 11 Louds a Leapin' WITHOUT seeking personal validation, showing him that he's not as selfish as he thought. This gives Lincoln the motivation to grab his Ace Savvy costume and confront Lynn.
    • At the end of their fight, Lincoln comforts a regretful Lynn (now wearing her outfit from her first year in Middle School) and encourages her to let go of the Infinity Balls and take responsibility, assuring her that he and their sisters will be by her side. This gets her to remove the headband with the Infinity Balls, restoring reality to normal.
Lincoln: It's not too late to change, you know.
Lynn: How can I stop now? What if they make fun of me again? I already lost my friends. I don't know if I can handle that.
Lincoln: If that happens, I'll stay by your side and support you. Our sisters will too.
    Lynn: They're gonna hate me.
Lincoln: Maybe they'll be mad but they could never hate you. You just need to take responsibility for you actions.
    • Their final exchange before Lynn restores reality:
Lincoln: I know it'll be hard, but we'll be there for you. I know you're more than just a jock. You don't have to prove yourself to the world anymore.
Lynn: Ok. I trust you, Linky.
  • Blood Sports
    • The chapter itself opens with Rick pretty chill with Lynn despite their fight in the last chapter. He even explains how he and Lynn aren't so different when it comes to trying to take control of their lives.
    • Understandably, the rest of the sisters are livid after learning about Lynn's takeover. Lincoln, while not excusing her actions, defends her and asks them to give her chance to atone.
    • Lynn vows to her siblings that she'll make amends for her actions, beginning with quitting sports altogether. In turn, the siblings forgive her (albeit with a warning from Lola).
    • Lincoln even offers her to watch ARGGH!!! with him, to which she happily agrees.
  • Near the end of Never Ricking Story, we see that the story train was a gift from Lynn that she bought on the Citadel in order to make things up to him. While he appreciates the sentiment, Lincoln says that the only thing he wants from her is to take his feelings into account more often, to which Lynn agrees.
  • In Driving Ambition, Rick offers to clone Lori so that she could fulfill both her revenge on Tammy and her dream of attending Fairway. When Lori turns the offer down, Rick understands but still keeps the option open.
    • Rick even attends Lori's golf game with the rest of the family.
  • In Head Poet's Anxiety, Rick helps Luan remember why she wanted to become a comedian in the first place; she likes seeing people happy. With this, she then resolves to be a better comedian and person, leading to her working out her tension with Luna and making up with her for good.
    • After attending Lucy's poetry reading, Luan stops by Maggie's place for a bit. They both admit they like each other for who they are and even become a couple.
  • Nicktoons Unite!
    • The chapter opens with Lincoln and Lola, of all people, playing a video game together and having fun. Lincoln didn't even mind when Lola beats him.
    • When Lynn talks to Lucy about her time as a runaway, she mentions how she missed listening to Lucy's poems.
    • Rick actually talks down Plankton and Crocker and convinces them to drop their villainous ways.
  • Changing the Childrick is surprisingly heartwarming all around, despite some tension and weird moments. Rick and Lynn Sr. get to bond, Leni becomes a beloved ruler to her section of the planet, and Rick gives Lincoln and Luna sincere gratitude for saving him from the Zeus- even assuring them when they begin to worry about having killed another creature.
