The Evil In Us is a 2016 American horror film. It's directed and written by Jason William Lee. It was released in the United Kingdom on August 19th and is available through Amazon Prime.

Six people are heading to a remote island to celebrate the Fourth of July! What can possibly go wrong? Well, a new drug they picked up turns them into bloodthirsty monsters, but Brie doesn't consume it. She'll have to fight for her life before it's too late.

In a secondary plot, a police officer initiates an investigation after seeing a macabre scene at an apartment that could be tied to this mysterious drug.

Contains examples of:

  • A Birthday, Not a Break: Part of the Downer Ending. Those poor kids and guests…
  • Body Horror: Hoo boy. The opening kicks off with this trope and basically straps you in for what to expect.
  • Downer Ending: Yes, Brie survived, but all of her friends are dead, the drug becomes more widespread, its true background is never traced back (allowing Cob to evade justice), a nationwide state of emergency is declared, and it seems that the drug could be easily infused with anything.
  • Eye Scream: No physical harm, but those who consume the drug have their eyes turn completely bloodshot.
  • Jump Scare: Quite a bit here.
  • Karma Houdini: Elias Cob ultimately gets away with the tainted coke unscathed and even plans on infusing the virus with pot in order to further his nefarious schemes.
  • Nightmare Face: Shown when under the effect of the drug.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Those infected with the virus ultimately show signs of increasing aggression. Ultimately, when they fully succumb, they are nothing more than a snarling feral monster.
  • Sole Survivor: Zoe is the sole survivor of the apartment case. Her other three friends were dead when police entered the scene.
  • Through the Eyes of Madness: When the camera becomes the field of vision from a character who has taken the drug, we too get to see the intense visual hallucinations. And they are not pretty.
