You Blew It Finn
is an Adventure Time one shot fanfic by Red Witch.
Finn assumed that life was like fiction and that his problems would go away by the next afternoon. Unfortunately, life is not so simple, and he learns his reckless actions will cost him more than just a girlfriend.
You Blew It Finn contains the following examples:
- Accusation Fic: Finn spends much of the story getting castigated by Princess Bubblegum for recklessly baiting Flame Princess into a fight with Ice King.
- Adaptational Karma: Finn gets a massive chewing out from Princess Bubblegum, is barred from the Candy Kingdom for a week, and ends the story about to get a massive beating from Marceline.
- Cruel Mercy: Princess Bubblegum refuses to banish or imprison Finn... largely because she knows Marceline will do much worse to him.
- Fix Fic: The story serves as one for "Frost And Fire" and "Too Old", centering around Finn being called out and facing more serious consequences for his actions than Flame Princess breaking things off with him.
- Never My Fault: Downplayed with Finn; while he's fully aware that he screwed up, he's caught off guard by Princess Bubblegum confronting him. He also protests that she should be yelling at Jake as well, since Jake convinced him to try the whole idiotic scheme in the first place. Bubblegum makes clear that he's still responsible for his own choices.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Knowing Princess Bubblegum is about to give Finn holy hell for his reckless behavior, Jake quickly makes himself scarce.
- Status Quo Is God: Averted. Finn incorrectly assumes that there won't be any long-term consequences for what he did, only to learn the hard way that Flame Princess isn't the only one who was hurt by how he manipulated her.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Not only did Finn hurt Flame Princess' feelings, he didn't consider how much ice and snow would be melted during her battle with the Ice King. This resulted in massive amounts of flood damage. Making matters worse, if Flame Princess decides to seek revenge, that could trigger a war between her lands and the Candy Kingdom.
- What Were You Thinking?: Princess Bubblegum quite literally asks Finn this, wondering what possessed him to manipulate two of the most dangerous beings in the land into a fight.
- Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: Princess Bubblegum invokes to this stress how horrible Finn's actions were, thinking that the Lord of the Nightosphere would glowingly approve of Finn's behavior.
