More Than Meets the Spy is a fanfic by MetropolisMCU/ssjSega, and is a crossover between Transformers (more specifically Bumblebee) and Spy X Family.

As a necessary expense for his mission, Agent TWILIGHT, current identity Loid Forger, decides to buy a new car. Unknown to him, however, said car is the alt-mode of the Autobot scout Bumblebee. Now, the Forger's already incredibly complex family situation (father a spy, mother an assassin, dog a seer, and daughter a telepath who is the only one who knows everyone else's secrets) faces the added complication of their car being a robot-in-disguise...and bringing a completely new war to the table.

The story can also be found here on FF.Net and here on AO3.

A concurrent story, Camien Odyssey (FF.Net and AO3), details the events transpiring beyond Earth in regard to the Autobot-Decepticon War.

     Main Story
  • Adaptation Distillation: The Transformers side of the story borrows many different elements; Bumblebee cannot speak to humans due to his damaged voice box, was sent to Earth on a scouting mission by Optimus Prime, and was found by Loid in a used car dealership, just like in Bumblebee. But he also speaks in binary and lost his voice back on Cybertron like Transformers: Prime.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Yuri's coworkers in the SSS (Chloe, Gascoigne, and Jeffrey) appear in Mission 8 before the events of the Cruise Adventure arc, and thus before Chapter 43 of the manga. Canonically, they wouldn't appear until the events of the Mole Hunt arc starting in Chapter 80.
  • Curse Cut Short: In Mission 8, during Yor's driving lesson, Chloe's about to drop an F-bomb, but gets cut off due to the elder Briar almost crashing into a building.
Chloe: NOW PLEASE SLOW DOWN AND STOP THE FU-WATCH OUT!
  • Entertainingly Wrong: In addition to the canon misunderstandings between Loid and Yor regarding each other and Anya, spending time around the Forgers causes Bumblebee to assume their family dynamics are normal for humans.
    • A recurring example is how he assumes that Yor's prodigious strength is normal for human mothers.note
    • Bumblebee, when he first arrives, assumes Earth cars are bots and that they work with humans. This causes him to appear before a woman who, understandably, reacts with horror.
    • In Mission 7, when the Forgers get attacked by the criminals Anya ran into during Mission 5, Yor assumes that they're just more of Loid's patients suffering from psychotic breaks, which Loid goes along with. This also leads to Bumblebee believing that human doctors are just like Cybertronian ones in that they get attacked by their patients.
  • Foil: Twilight/Loid and B-127/Bumblebee, due to both being war veterans specializing in espionage (spying and scouting respectively) who become part of the Forger family. Though they don't interact directly due to Bumblebee's cover, Anya's POV (through which she can read their minds) does help directly showcase their similarities and differences.
    • Loid is the founder of the Forger family, having created it to (initially) aid in his infiltration mission, and sees both it and its members as integral to said mission. Bumblebee is the newest member, was taken in by complete accident, and (initially) sees the Forgers as a hinderance to his mission.
    • Though both have similar roles in terms of espionage, their rankings differ immensely. Loid is among the highest-ranking members of his organization, while Bumblebee's much lower in rank within the Autobots.
    • Most notably, though both are soldiers, Loid's war ended long ago, and his primary mission is to ensure such a war never happens again. Bumblebee, meanwhile, is still an active combatant in an ongoing war, with his main goal being to aid his faction in their survival and thus support their war effort.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Bumblebee is in a mutual example of this trope with the Forgers - while he never catches on to Anya being a telepath due to how out there this is even in Transformers, the idea of robotic aliens that turn into vehicles is so outside the Spy Fiction genre the rest of the cast occupies that Loid doesn't even consider the possibility even after finding evidence of aliens.

    Camien Odyssey
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In IDW and Cyberverse, Windblade and Chromia were close friends, albeit with quite a bit of Homoerotic Subtext. Here, the "sub" part is completely removed and the two are in a romantic relationship together.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: In IDW, Praesidia Magna was killed by Onyx Prime (actually Shockwave) when she was sucked into a vortex on Antilla. In this fic, she's beaten to death by Strika during the Decepticon invasion of Caminus.
  • Great Escape: The entire plot of Chapter 2 is the Camiens, Jetfire, and Fixit all working together to escape the prison barge ship they're trapped on.
  • Hero of Another Story: Elita-1 and her team serve as this for Camien Odyssey.
  • Secret Relationship: According to Word of God, Elita and Optimus are this; they've kept the fact that they are Conjunx Enduranote  secret from most of the other Autobots for the sake of political convenience.
