A re-imagining of RWBY by Muskrat2, keeping the general outline of the story while streamlining some elements or fixing elements of the world-building that the author didn't personally agree with. Notably has some OC's.

This fanfic provides examples of the following tropes, which may include unmarked spoilers.

  • Adaptational Heroism: Cardin is still a dick but he's more pragmatic and there are hints that he's trying to be a better person. Jaune is also this in that he doesn't actually forge his transcripts.
  • Age Lift: Ruby's age is raised to 16, while the other cast has their age raised to 18.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Anne Harker is revealed to have one. She was attacked by a member of Mistral's upper class and injured him in self defense. Unfortunately, because the guy was a member of the Upper class and she was a dirt poor faunus she got charged with attempted murder, all of which was egged on by a racist press. She managed to escape jail with help from Neo and the Malachite twins, only for her attacker (revealed to have been a Serial Killer) to track her down and murder her Grandfather before she killed him. And while a sympathetic Huntsman was able to gather evidence that proved her story, the Mistral authorities buried the incident rather than admit how badly they screwed up.
  • Expy: Tracy Parker is Vanessa Lutz from Freeway.
  • Freudian Excuse: Russell Thrush's is that his father and brothers were killed by the White Fang despite being civilian workers. He ultimately starts to grow out of it after learning the full circumstances of what happened (his father's superiors had been storing branded Faunus; the White Fang hadn't been expecting to see that when they raided the place and since the guys actually responsible weren't there the civilian workers were the ones in the blast radius of their anger.)
  • One Degree of Separation: The guy who helped Anne Harker clear her name was Rhodes' former teammate; part of the reason he took the case was because of Rhodes' death.
  • Pet the Dog: The Malachite Twins helped Anne Harker escape prison both because she had protected them from other inmates and because they were aware that the guy she was accused of attacking had an unsavory reputation.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Cardin is still a racist, but he's more pragmatic. He breaks up the incident where Velvet has her ears pulled because two of his friends had done the same thing at Pharos and gotten expelled for it.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: It's revealed that part of the reason the Madame got away with her crimes was because she was friends with the head of child services, who looked the other way.
  • Tragic Bigot: Russell Thrush's racism stems from the fact that the White fang slaughtered his father and brothers despite them being innocent workers. He ultimately begins to let go after learning the full circumstances (the mine had been storing Faunus who had been illegally branded and the guys actually responsible had fled beforehand, with the massacre being the White Fang venting their anger over the heinous crime.)
