Go To

Megumin Potter was always seen as a delusional child who believed that the death of her parents and her mistreatment at the hands of her aunt and uncle were signs that she was destined to be the Chosen One and had dark and terrible powers within herself. Most thought her mad.

Unfortunately, she was dead on.

Accompanied by her muggleborn cousin, Yunyun Durseley, Megumin will encounter new friends and enemies alike, such as the Slytherin trio of Draco Malfoy, Kazuma Crabbe, and Dust Goyle; Lalatina "Darkness" Longbottom; and a familiar idol-turned-useless-DADA professor who keeps insisting she's a goddess...

Hogwarts is in for rough days ahead. But at least it should be funny.

Dark Legend Of Potter: Crimson Demons Awaken is a Harry Potter and Konosuba crossover by Full Paragon, the same author as This Goddess Must Be Crazy, The Melancholy of Kazuma Sato and A Clash Of Neets (the last of which this story shares a continuity with).

This Insanity Provides Examples Of:

  • Adaptational Angst Downgrade: Played for Laughs: Megumin's childhood, while not rosy, is a fair shine better than Harry's, much to her chagrin since a Chosen One such as her is supposed to have a Dark and Troubled Past. While Vernon and Petunia still blatantly favor Yunyun over Megumin, Yunyun herself is much nicer than Dudley was to Harry. She also wasn't forced to sleep under the stairs (she insisted on it herself).
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: While they are still bigoted against magic, still show blatant favouritism towards Yunyun, and are not the most pleasent of people in general, Petunia and Vernon are nowhere near as bad as in canon. Megumin lives under the stairs because she insists on it, wears Yunyun's hand-me-downs because she refuses to wear any new clothes they buy her, she isn't treated like a servant (though she has to do some chores, it is a fairly normal amount, and Yunyun also has chores), the only time she is denied food is when she is sent to bed without dessert for misbehaving (and she sometimes sends herself to bed without dessert), with part of why she's skinny being that she sometimes puts herself on a diet of only bread and water. They also haven't spoiled Yunyun rotten like Dudley in canon.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Yunyun is generally regarded as the "sane" cousin between herself and Megumin, and is a Hufflepuff, the house defined by being nice and friendly. Hurt her friends, however, and you'll see that she's just as much a Crimson Demon as her cousin, and is just as powerful, her madness simply taking a different form. Just ask the Krabbes, after she found out they were abusing Kazuma. It was only Kazuma himself that stopper her from murdering them on the spot.
  • Chuunibyou: It's a story with Megumin as the main character, what do you expect? What's more surprising is that by all accounts Lily was much the same way, even being the one to coin the term "Crimson Demon" in this universe; Megumin is simply emulating her, and everyone who knew her meets it with a mix of bemusement and annoyance. And as Megumin stays at Hogwarts, it begins spreading...
  • Closet Geek: Kazuma is a big fan of muggle comic books (particularly Superman); since he was born into a Death Eater family, however, interest in anything muggle is seen as intolerable, so he keeps it to himself.
  • Genre Savvy: Megumin is acutely aware of the fact that she's the Chosen One in a YA fantasy story, and is thus pretty cognisant of the tropes going on around her. For instance, after defeating Quirrel/Voldemort, and being told there was no body left behind by her Explosion:
Megumin: If there is no body, clearly, the villain is only defeated for a time, and shall return. Probably in time for exams next year. That is how these things work, after all.
  • Green Thumb: Yunyun is an excellent gardener, and when Hagrid and Dumbldore show up she admits to her parents that the reason is that her magic allows her to talk to her plants and know exactly what they need.
  • Not So Above It All: When McGonagall is questioning the newly expanded Crimson Demon Clan after Filch caught them practicing dangerous spells, the entire Clan have fairly good reasons for why they wanted to learn themnote ... except for Hermione, who, despite Megumin bringing up the rather fair argument that, if a Death Eater is present at Hogwarts, she'd be targetted as a Muggle-Born, admits she just wanted to learn some new spells.
  • Religion is Magic: Some people who begin worshipping Aqua (despite... 'everything) begin gaining the ability to cast divine magic spells, just like Priests in Konosuba.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Vernon and Mad-Eye Moody rapidly become this, after the latter moves onto Privet Drive, and begins instilling the latter with his philosophy of "Constant Vigilance!" This usually means breaking into Vernon and Petunia's house, and Vernon creating increasingly elaborate, Tom-and-Jerry-esque traps to keep him out. After a while they start working.
  • Social Services Does Not Exist: Averted, unlike in the books. Social Services has apparently visited the Dursleys at least once before over their treatment of Megumin, but nothing came of it due to them finding out that her "mistreatment" is self-inflicted, with her rejecting the Dursleys attempts to give her a proper bedroom and new clothing.
  • So Proud of You: Played for Laughs; after Mad-Eye is nearly killed by one of Vernon's traps he expresses pride that his lessons about Constant Vigilance are being taken on board.
  • Stealth Sequel: The story is set in the same continuity as the author's "Paragonverse" which contains A Clash Of Neets and What If The Emperor Found A Bunch Of Anime Goddesses, but it isn't immediately obvious; none of the other Goddesses or champions are set to appear, and due to the rules of Reincarnation, only Aqua and Eris are aware of the events on other worlds.
