Alola, Galar!
is a Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and Pokémon Sword and Shield fic which Elio decides he no longer wants to be champion and leaves Alola to the furthest place he can think of: The Galar region.
"Alola Galar" contain example of:
- Achievements in Ignorance: Elio had no idea he was creating Pokémon History when he successfully got his Frosmoth to use Freeze-Dry, something that irks Sonia when she realizes.
- Adaptation Expansion: Of a sort. The Gym missions have been cut out, however, the Gym battles themselves have been expanded upon. Instead of just a large field, the terrain of the Gym battles now set up to support the Leader.
- Ascended Extra: The Gym leaders are given a bit more personality here, with Nessa and Bea being the stand-outs.
- Awesomeness by Analysis: This is what makes Elio so effective as a trainer.
- Cannot Keep a Secret: Gloria has spilled every secret Elio has asked her to keep.
- The Chosen One: Elio is this to Nessa, being the only trainer she's endorsed for the Gym Challenge.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Nessa has shades of this when Sonia is teasing her.
- Continuity Cameo: Brendan and May from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire make a brief appearance after Elio and Gloria defeat Milo.
- David Versus Goliath: Elio doesn't have a Dynamax band, so anytime he goes up against a Dynamaxed Pokemon is this.
- Demoted to Extra: Victor and Hop are this, as the story focuses on Elio and Gloria instead.
- Mistaken Identity: Elio's first action after arriving in Galar is to save a drowning man using his Charizard. This being Galar, everyone sees Charizard and assumes Leon is there to help.
- The Unchosen One: Gloria is this since unlike her brother and Hop, Leon did not endorse her as a Gym Challenger.
- Underestimating Badassery: During Elio's battle with Nessa, Sonia has a hard time believing that Elio could match up to the likes of Red, and Brendan. She's almost immediately proven wrong.
- Willfully Weak: Elio does not use his Champion team in battle, outside of a single instance with a Gigantamaxed Snorlax.
