Tropes contained in A Gentle Breeze

  • Adaptational Heroism: Loreza Martell in canon sought the betrothal for Elia to Prince Rhaegar out of spite after Tywin Lannister slighted her children rudely rejecting any of them as worthy of his own. In this story, the royal marriage was something Aerys thought of by himself and Loreza just accepted because she was afraid of what the clearly raving madman could do if he was denied.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Aerys for all that he would have loved to, never got physical with Joanna and at the first rude comment Tywin took her out of there and returned to the Westerlands with her. In this story Aerys assaulted Joanna, and periodically beats his wife in the throne room.
  • The Bard: Venti as expected. This is how he presents himself in Westeros.
  • Blow you Away: The power of those who control the Anemo element, allows them to control the wind for battle, transport, communication, and cosmetic improvements.
  • Cheerful Child: Most of the kids of Dorne (like Arthur, Ashara, and Oberyn) are like this when around Venti, chief among them Arthur.
  • Not So Above It All: Serious and several years older than the rest of the audience Doran Martell loves to swing by Venti's performances even if he likes to pretend he does so for useful allegorical examples to emulate..
  • Oh, Crap!: Rhaella has this reaction the moment she realizes what the Anemo Vision she now holds as she tries to convince Venti to take it back, knowing full well the harm her husband could do with it, to no avail.
  • The Omniscient: Venti as a God of Wind can hear anything saying on the wind in Westeros and some part of Essos if he focuses really hard.
  • Slave Liberation: Venti manages to inspire a Type 3 in the Free Cities all the way from Westeros with careful use of his powers.
  • The Stoic: Rhaegar, bordering in The Sociopath: and the main reason why Venti doesn't like Rhaegar. He behaves utterly uninterested in anything that surrounds him, he can play the harp well, but all his songs are melancholic or sad and he has little to no emotional attachment to the people around him, his mother included to the point he only asked about her state of health because it was expected.
