Gerald Theron Campion, (23 April 1921 — 9 July 2002), was a British actor best known for playing Billy Bunter in Billy Bunter of Greyfriars School.
After winning a place at RADA when he was 15, he made appearances in films and on TV.
His biggest role was Billy Bunter in Billy Bunter of Greyfriars School from 1952 to 1961. Bunter was a juvinile role, ironically played by Campion who was 40 when the series ended. Campion later reprised the role in the radio series Whatever Happened to ...?.
Some of his other notable roles were in the first Carry On film, Carry On, Sergeant, and in 1979, he played a small role in the Doctor Who serial "Shada", a story which wasn't released in any form until 1992.
By The '90s, Campion had given up acting, and ran clubs and restaurants in Soho.
He died at the age of 81.
