    Timothy Hunter

Timothy Hunter

The main protagonist of the series, a teenage boy who learns he has the potential to become a very powerful sorcerer, struggling to make his own destiny.

  • Babies Ever After: In Peter Gross's run, one of the Expendable Alternate Universes targeted by his Other is one where he and Molly got together and had a child. Can be considered a subversion due to what Timothy's Other does to the alternate Timothy Hunters.
  • Bad Future: One of the things Tim had to deal with was trying to prevent a future where he becomes evil and uses his power to wipe out all the other magic users.
  • Changeling Fantasy: One possible backstory is that he is the son of Queen Titania and her former human falconer Tamlin who was raised by William and Mary Hunter after he was born.
  • Happily Adopted: Even after learning that William and Mary Hunter weren't truly his biological parents, he still cares for them.
  • Kid Hero All Grown-Up: After years of being underage, he is 18 years old by the events of Hunter: The Age of Magic.
  • Multiple-Choice Past: The series has dithered on whether Tim was Queen Titania's son conceived through an affair with Tamlin or if Mary Hunter truly was Tim's biological mother and was the one Tamlin impregnated.
  • Really Gets Around: He has a tendency to sleep with multiple women by Hunter: The Age of Magic.

    Cyril Ransome

Cyril Ransome

Tim Hunter's stepbrother through his father William Hunter marrying Holly Ransome.

  • Armor-Piercing Question: When Tim calls him out for not appearing to care about Tim's father dying, Cyril gives a response that isn't very charitable and actually shocks Tim into silence.
Cyril: Did you care when my mummy died?
  • Bastard Bastard: It's indicated that he was born out of wedlock and he's a selfish prick who has an obnoxious sense of entitlement.
  • Fat Bastard: He's overweight and extremely selfish.
  • It's All About Me: His only concern is what he wants and he doesn't give a toss at all about the needs and wants of other people, least of all his stepbrother Tim.
  • Never My Fault: He never accepts any responsibility for his actions and always blames his stepbrother for his grievances.

    Barbatos

Barbatos

A demon who schemes to manipulate Timothy Hunter.

  • Bad Humor Truck: Near the end of Peter Gross's run, he dresses as an ice cream man and drives an ice cream truck.
  • Bald of Evil: He has no hair and is a conniving demon.
  • Non-Humans Lack Attributes: He is frequently seen nude, and while he has buttocks, he never has visible genitals.
  • Villainous Glutton: His deviousness is matched only by his fondness for junk food and sweets.
