  • I Need a Freaking Drink: One of her go to methods to deal with the stress of the task force's activities if something goes bad.

A Superior Court judge who hears the case against Elizabeth in the death of the DC harbormaster.


  • Cool Old Guy: He seems to be in his 50s or 60s, and ends up being a pretty reasonable guy... At first glance.
  • Hero Antagonist: He initially opposes Liz, but he's just trying to do his job; there's no indication that he's actually anything but an upstanding citizen.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He's initially hostile to Liz and disbelieves her story, but after the full facts of the case are revealed, he doesn't like it, but he lets her go.
    • Deconstructed. He's ultimately strongarmed into letting her go by Tom Connolly, who outside of blackmail points out that Denner is abusing his position and commiting a crime by forcing agents to reveal secrets he is not at all privvy too.
  • You Are What You Hate: Denner hates the government abusing its position to commit crimes in the name of something greater... But his interrogation of Liz for government secrets he's not authorized to know is a federal crime in itself.

The Deputy Attorney General and Fowler's replacement overseeing the Task Force in Season 2.


  • Black Boss Lady: She's the overseer of the FBI Task Force although unlike most examples she's not a cop herself.
  • Character Death: Killed by Laurel Hitchin to ensure her connections to Solomon are not made public.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When she starts discussing Solomon's history with Hitchin is when Hitchin reveals her true allegiance.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She goes to great pains to consider any political implications of the Task Force's actions which may make her seem like an Obstructive Bureaucrat. However, she goes to equally great pains to protect the Task Force.
