Ashley Lockheart
- Little Miss Badass: Ashley is skilled enough in martial arts to take out older men and fight on relatively equal ground with her corrupted father.
- Self-Made Orphan: She finally kills her corrupted father, which happened right on the heels of her mother's death, leaving her and her sisters without parents.

Antagonists
Ketsuo/Katsuo Akihiro
- An Arm and a Leg: He gets his arm ripped off by a corrupted Soleil.
- Big Bad: He's practically responsible for everything that goes wrong in the comic, starting with showing Lucian and Sol his discovery of dark magic.
- The Corruptor: He ends up becoming this to Lucian, tempting him into experimenting with magic and infusing him with more and more power.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: When confronted by Soleil because of his actions, he turns him into a mindless beast to place him under his control... only for monster!Soleil to instead tear his arm off.
Lucian Lockheart
- Abusive Parents: He initially was a good parent but he becomes this to his daughters as his sanity further disintegrates, constantly insulting and eventually beating them over trivial things.
- Archnemesis Dad: Ends up becoming this to Ashley.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: It's implied that the black substance and the power it imbues is driving Lucian's slow descent into insanity; in page 107, when Ashley tells him about Kirsty's death, he seemingly becomes his old self again and displays shock over it. The next page, unfortunately, has him quickly return to his corrupted self.
- Offing the Offspring: As he mutates into his One-Winged Angel form, he attempts to murder Ashley.
- One-Winged Angel: He takes on a dark, monstrous form during the climax.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: As he does further research with the black substance, Lucian's personality becomes much darker, eventually culminating in him beating Gabrielle for being out past curfew.
Supporting Characters
Gabby Lockheart
Gabrielle "Gabby" Lockheart
- Cool Big Sis: She is supportive of Ashley's love of martial arts, gives her advice on her crush on Bastian, and later on tries to hide how bad their father's become in order to protect her.
Kirsty Lockheart
Kirsty Lockheart (nee Pritchard)
- Adults Are Useless: She never seems to realize how much her husband’s changed, and is subsequently unable to do anything to help her daughters before her death.
- Death by Childbirth: She dies giving birth to her third child.
- Good Parents: She's probably the one parent in this comic who isn't abusive and/or neglectful. She's nothing but a loving, supporting mother toward her daughters.
- Wanted a Gender-Conforming Child: She wishes that her daughter would act more feminine, though she does becoming more accepting of Ashley's interest in martial arts.
Sol
Soleil "Sol"
- Only Sane Man: He is the only scientist shown who has reservations about the kinds of research Ketsuo is proposing.
