A (currently partial) list of characters appearing in Per Aspera Ad Astra, a Magical Girl Massive Multiplayer Crossover/Crisis Crossover series written and published on AO3 by susbox. Find it here!
This page will contain spoilers, both marked and unmarked, for both the series and its many component universes. It's highly recommended, though by no means required, to at least broadly familiarize yourself with the characters and events of the Pretty Cure franchise before continuing.
For ease of viewing, and to hopefully minimize confusion, the characters will be grouped by the entry they first appear in, and from there will be displayed in order of appearance (only full, named appearances are counted, not mentions or cameos).
Nothing Left Unsaid
In conversation, Ritz comes across as charismatic, even kind to some, and seems genuinely interested in what makes her subordinates tick. Her outlook tends to be pragmatic and realistic, and she tends to manage her organization's limited resources carefully, favoring surprise attacks or guerrilla tactics over frontal assaults. The full extent of her powers is unclear, though she's been shown to have the ability to psychically dominate those with low mental fortitude (seen in Nothing Left Unsaid when she commands Cure Prism to kneel) as well as shapeshift (seen in With a Wonder and a Wild Desire as she talks with Gentlu).
- Back from the Dead: Twice, Ritz has revived from a supposedly certain demise. Both of these occurrences were in the past, though, before the series began proper.
- Big Bad: Ritz is one of these, as she's the leader of Terminus.
Bury the Light / Far Away Boys
- Evil Counterpart: Storm is one of these, being a clone of Sora wired to fight magical girls.
- Swiss-Army Weapon: Her Beat Glanzer is one of these, with a Sword, Axe, and Rod form that each allow her to utilize different elements.
Only One / With a Wonder and a Wild Desire
Heavy is the Head
- An Ice Person: Almost literally, as her breath is capable of freezing hot tea (albeit only momentarily) and her body temperature is far below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. A touch from her on bare skin is shown to quickly freeze into the target's flesh, blood, and potentially nerves.
Tatin is a young woman of slight build and average height, appearing around the age of nineteen to twenty, with lavender hair and amethyst eyes. She often dresses in shades of blue and wears little makeup, most often simple eyeliner and lip gloss.
- Alpha Bitch: Tatin's personality is best described as abrasive, egotistical, and antagonistic, and her habit of loudly crunching apples during conversations is a clear indicator of her lack of respect for others. Despite this, she's quite popular with the citizens of Shuffle Kingdom, who appreciate her evangelical sermons bringing them hope and a feeling of much-needed steadiness after the fall of the Selfish King.
Pilot's actual height and physique are unknown, as she's almost always hunched over or stooped and wearing baggy clothes. She has long, stringy black hair, pupil-less black eyes, and pallid skin, and most of her face is obscured by a heavy respirator that renders her voice muffled and scratchy.
- Goggles Do Something Unusual: In addition to her heavy respirator, the Shuffle Kingdom's royal librarian wears a set of goggles that, among other things, can seamlessly translate texts from other languages.
Ad Libitum
Voyager
Kagami Hiiragi of Lucky Star fame appears in Voyager as an employee of the Kaguya Corporation, specifically the head of Research and Development. Though her role in Voyager is limited to a small cameo in Madoka's first appearance (being dragged away from a meeting by her collar), she's slated to appear in future entries in Act III and beyond.
- Goggles Do Something Unusual: Whereas most heads of Research and Development go around with a clipboard or tablet, Kagami has a set of computerized goggles that serve a number of different purposes to aid in her work.
- The Professor: As the head of Research and Development for the Kaguya Corporation, Kagami is absolutely one of these. Has a tendency to zone out when hyper-focused on her work...which is, essentially, any time she's not in an important work meeting.
The Seeds We've Sown
- Self-Harm–Induced Superpower: Her heart is essentially a blast furnace using her life force as fuel to force her flames to burn hotter and hotter.
- Academic Athlete: Futaba is implied to have good grades in school, and is stated to be an athlete (specifically, a member of the track team).
- Heroic RRoD: Yuri has a propensity to ignore her failing health for the sake of fulfilling what she feels is her duty as Kibougahana's protector. This in conjunction with past wounds is revealed to be causing her Heart Flower to slowly wither away, in turn causing her to slowly waste away.
Fruits Basket
Dancing Mad
- Animal Theme Naming: As with all of the Zero Knights.
- Exotic Weapon Supremacy: Sigma's primary weapon of choice is a blade at the end of a chain, which retracts into a spool on her right forearm.
- Power Dyes Your Hair: As Maria unlocks more of her ki power, her hair turns white. Sort of a Golden Super Mode, as it's meant to reference the trope-codifying Super Saiyan.
- Supernatural Martial Arts: Making good use of her time in prison, Maria did her best to emulate a favorite childhood show and learn to use ki in conjunction with her martial arts.
- Conveniently Timed Attack from Behind: From her first appearance in Dancing Mad, this is Kaoruko's MO—specifically, clocking people over the back of the head with bricks or other objects.
- New Superpower: As revealed in By a Thread of a Chance, Gray taught Kaoruko a power known as Ideation, which allows her to fight on even ground with him, a demigod, and the Precure, who all have years of experience.
