Lourdes
A Former Game Master for the MMORPG Mystic Revolution. At the start of the story, she has just come back from a one year ban, due to an incident involving her former protegee turned rival, Machiavelli. However, for some strange reason, she still able to play as her old character, overpowered equipment and some of her old Moderator abilities. While she had much rather just return to the game and play with her old friends, a certain incompetent ninja, and now threats from Machiavelli to see her permanently banned is preventing her from doing any of the sort, snagging her back into events that will likely cause great changes to Mystic Rev.- The Berserker: Can get angry rather quickly. Which is bad news for EVERYONE around her, as thanks to her being a GM exclusive class of Pyromancer, some of her abilities are tied into her rage.
- Dark and Troubled Past: The events that caused her suspension from the game, and removal from the Mystic Rev Staff. Turns out it was an uncontrollable "mind hack" virus that took advantage of Mystic Revolutions use of Brain/Computer Interface visors, forcing players logged in and infected with it to go into a mindless rage, and infected other players killed by a berserked player. She, other moderators including Machiavelli, and a top level administration A.I., Joline, tried to stop it. However, when several infected broke through the lines, and were about to attack Joline while she was scanning for the original source of the virus and defenseless, Lourdes was forced to issue an emergency "Kill Command" that against Joline to protect her. Unfortunately, this caused the entirety of Mystic Revolution to crash, causing the infected players accounts to be completely wiped, and had to erase Joline's learned memories, as she was suffering from traumatic flashbacks to being killed and causing server instability. The company that run's MR, keen on ending the bad PR, put Lourdes out as a sacrificial lamb for all the progress players lost, and the money that the company lost.
- Game Master: Was one at one time, and noted for having created many policies for the game, including protections for the sentient A.I. NPCs, a player tribunal, and even pets. However something happened, and towards the end, Lourdes was apparently known to be a bit ban happy, before losing her job as a Moderator and employee of Mystic Rev.
- Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Views Alcohol as the "Social Lubricant". It helps that Mystic Rev's VR headsets allow the players to experience things as though they were part of the game.
- Tsundere: Is even called out for being one by Goth_Girl. Despite her objections, her relationship with L33t_Ninj4 proves this to be true.
L33t_Ninj4
A new player to Mystic Revolution, he is known by many names: Idiot, Moron, Baka, Ninja, "THAT" Ninja. He spends his early days hitting on every female in sight.note Although he starts off as a total moron, he's gotten better over time thanks to Lourdes and her friends teaching him. He and Lourdes have since entered into a romantic relationship.- Chivalrous Pervert: Starts out definitely on the Pervert side, but has shifted much more to Chivalrous over time as he and Lourdes have fallen in love with each other.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: When the story started, he was a Level 4 Ninja (In a 50+ zone!) with no skills beyond somehow surviving way more than what should've been possible. Through persistence, training from the others, some Level Grinding, and studying of online guides, he has greatly improved his skills. While he can still act foolish from time to time, this also give him an advantage as he's willing to try unorthodox tactics outside of the Ninja Class meta.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Has one after spending a night together with Goth_Girl in bed, when he comes to the conclusion he really wants to be with Lourdes, feeling rather guilty about the whole thing and goes to apologize for the affair, which Goth_Girl quietly praises. Make note, this is before Lourdes and him were even together.
- Spanner in the Works: Is seen using this frequently in the Tournament Arc, by using abilities of his class that are rarely, if ever, used, and using items not for their intended purposes.
- Turns out he IS a Spanner In the Works for Hiroyuki Takama, Creator of Mystic Revolution and his granddaughter, Nina. The purpose of which seems to be an attempt to have the game return more to his original ambitions and design for the game.
