     Kento Tachibana
An 11-years old elementary student, and the main protagonist, who finds the Daemon Anna and raises her as his pet.
  • Admiring the Abomination: Whenever he sees a Daemon, as long as it doesn’t present a threat, his first reaction is to touch it, while gushing over how beautiful and/or cute it is.
  • All-Loving Hero: He’s a weird but sweet and good-hearted little boy who wishes for a world where humans and Daemons can coexist in peace. Even when he confronts many adversaries, he would rather talk his way out of the situation and firmly avoids violent solutions (although it might be justified for the fact that he’s just an average child with no power to overwhelm grownups), and he gets increasingly distraught when faced with casualties, regardless of whether they are humans or Daemons.
  • Disappeared Dad: While he has a loving relationship with his mother, his father is never mentioned.
  • Disney Death: In the penultimate episode, because of Kiriko/The Restoration Daemon‘s machination, the Daemon’s particle inside his face finally hatches, killing him. However, Kiriko brings him back to life as a means to persuade Anna join his side.
  • Locked into Strangeness: Because he’s infected with a Daemon’s particle, he has a red mark in the right side of his face and a white lock of hair on the left. He loses both of them after being revived by The Restoration Daemon.
  • Momma's Boy: He loves his mom so much, that after her untimely death he decides to embark on a quest to bring her back to life. Deconstructed, as it’s shown that he would rather live in denial and be manipulated by the Big Bad than accept the fact that bringing people back to life is not natural, as long as his loved ones aren’t hurt on his behalf. In the final episode he finally accepts his loss and gives his mother a proper goodbye.
  • Psychic Link: The Daemon particle in his head allows Kento to feel if a Daemon nearby is hurt, even if he cannot see or hear it. It also allows him to feel if Anna is nearby.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Because of his Daemon’s infection, it’s stated that he won’t be able to reach adulthood and that he has little time to live. Sure enough, he does die in the penultimate episode, after his Daemon’s particle finally hatches. He gets better, thanks to Kiriko/The Restoration Daemon.

     Anna
A dog-like Storage Daemon raised from a Daemonium particle found by Kento, who forms a familial bond with her.
  • Evil-Detecting Dog: Downplayed. Anna is usually faster to notice something amiss than Kento, but not by much, and she is frequently captured. She is also extremely agitated by Kiriko impersonating Kento’s mother, but unlike most versions of this trope all the other characters already know she’s an imposter.
  • Eldritch Abomination: While many Daemons have strange and fantastic biology, Anna’s dog-like form is a totally hollow vessel for her Storage Space, and her strange skin folds are actually a long coiled ribbon of flesh and eyes that curls up to form her various canine body shapes. Despite this, she still eats food like a regular dog.
  • Eyes Do Not Belong There: Anna’s body is absolutely covered in eyes, even having several lining the inside her storage “mouth”. Most of the time the majority of them remain closed, leaving her with two primary eyes in “normal” spots on her head.
  • Hammerspace: Anna’s storage powers function like this, allowing her to swallow up and store objects many times larger than herself inside her body thought it’s later revealed that all Storage Daemons share a pocket dimension where their stored materials go. This even has the effect of preserving the items in the exact state they went in, such as ice cubes remaining frozen despite several days passing. Kento uses this property to preserve his mothers corpse for the duration of his and Anna’s journey to find the time daemon.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Anna’s storage powers are extremely versatile, allowing her to make up for her lack of physical stature in fights against more physically imposing enemies. Played with once she develops her new forms, as she never really uses her newfound bulk in battle, preferring instead to continue using her storage powers.
  • Portal Cut: Although they take the form of various explosive spheres and beams, Anna’s heightened powers essentially accomplish this via transporting whatever they hit directly to her storage space, leaving the rest behind.
  • Super-Reflexes: Anna frequently uses her powers to block attacks with random objects and debris a fraction of a second before they would land.
  • Ugly Cute: Kento cannot stop gushing over how cute he finds Anna, to the point that even she seems confused by it occasionally. He’s the only character to do so, as everyone else either comments that he’s weird in response or actively finds her hideous.
