Mr. Protagonist
His incarnation in the first two songs. Here's what he looks like after the two.
The Hero Protagonist of his movie. He sings songs parodying animated movie clichés such as the Exposition Dump and cheesy cases of Dance Party Endings. He often holds a spoon which he only uses for expressing his gestures.- Art Evolution: In "The Dance Party at the End of the Film", he gets a new look, which his movie has yet to justify.
- Medium Awareness: He knows he's in an animated movie while also knowing their stereotypical structures, admitting its cheapness through stealth snark, but he doesn't seem to care about it.
- Mr. Exposition: He parodies this trope in "Exposition Song" by sarcastically stating that there's nothing wrong with infodumping the plot, lore and setting into the beginning.
- Paper People: The behind-the-scenes video of "Exposition Song" shows that he's a flat model on the floor.
- The Snark Knight: He enjoys making fun of movie clichés, and even of his own role as the protagonist, through subtle snark.
- Solid Cartoon Facial Stubble: His lower jaw, moving like a smooth metal piece attached to a bolt, is dark-brown stubble.

The Deuteragonist of Mr. Protagonist's movie. He sings about a Third-Act Misunderstanding together with the protagonist.- Gag Nose: He has a big, pointy nose going along with the comical designs of the other characters.
Dr. Antagonist
Dr. Antagonist
The Villain Antagonist of Mr. Protagonist's movie. He has tried to kill the protagonist and his entire family, only to fail and become his "bro".- Big Bad: Implied by Mr. Protagonist pointing out that the antagonist tried to kill him and his entire family. It's also common for main villain antagonists in animated movies to be Big Bads.
- Defeat Means Friendship: At the end of the movie, he becomes Mr. Protagonist's friend and holds his hands as if he's going to dance with him.
- Easily Forgiven: Mr. Protagonist easily forgives him for trying to kill his family.
- Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: He's called "Dr. Antagonist", yet he's never seen doing anything medical.
- Near-Villain Victory: Dr. Antagonist states that he's "so freaking close" to killing Mr. Protagonist's family. He fails.
- Skull for a Head: His head is a purple skull.
