The personified Anti-Hero of Halcyon Days, Arano is one-parts Jerkass to two-parts Terror Hero. Sarcastic and blunt to a fault, he is nonetheless rather insecure about his motivations and methods. Often second-guessing himself, the mere act of manipulating is enough to drive away these insecurities and drive him to an absolute rage. He is devious, cunning and willing to bend or break rules to get his job done - but at the end of the day he won't target anyone that doesn't deserve it.

  • When it was destroyed, it was replaced it with the Katherine 2, a revolver that shoots ice bullets.
• Incurable Cough of Death: Expect Roland to cough up blood at least once per chapter.
• Knee Capping: Roland enjoys pulling these off.
• Grumpy Old Man: Could give Hisao Adachi a run for his money.
• Old Soldier: Fits Roland to a T.
• Old Cop, Young Cop: With Light, a teenage detective, while they try to find Roland's daughter.
• One Last Job: He came out of retirement to find his Maria, and as soon as he does, he wants to go right back into it.

• Stronger with Age: Subverted: Roland, though not a complete pushover, struggles with the pains and limitations of his elderly body.
