• Eldritch Abomination: It is an Old God in the shape of a massive, sentient sandstorm capable of tearing apart buildings and people. Its origins are unknown: while the nuclear bombing of Baghdad is what causes it to appear, the name of the super event that coincides with its appearance ("The Dust Awakens"), and the fact that it is an old god, implies it may have always been there, sleeping.
• Outside-Genre Foe: The Dust is an Eldritch Abomination straight-out of a H.P Lovecraft Cosmic Horror story throw into a Strategy Game like Hearts of Iron, Invincible Villain and Immune to Bullets tropes typical to the genre played terrifyingly straight. As one can guess, it's presence alone illicits confusion and horror from countries worldwide.
• Razor Wind: The Dust's main form of attack is a 3-mile tall wall of wind that surrounds it's ever-expanding presence and cuts anything that it touches into ribbons, with the few things capable of resisting it being sent flying and crashing into pieces as show by an unfortunate Iraqi helicopter in it's first event.
• World-Wrecking Wave: Downplayed, it's "wrecking wave" is limited to the Middle East instead of the entire world, but the sentiment is still the same - it's an unstoppable, supernatural thing that expands through the region, destroying anything in it's path and leaving only ruins in it's wake.
