- Butt-Monkey: Has always been kicked around most of his life, so decides to steal research money and disappear.
- Creepy Cockroach: What he becomes.
- Dark and Troubled Past: After his mother's death, Roger was left under the care of abusive orphanage staff along with being bullied by other children due to Eddie's grief and inability to care in his line of work.
- Laser-Guided Karma: In a way, him being turned into a cockroach seems to punish him for his crimes.
- Mad Scientist: Is a scientist, has weird theories, acts very frenetic and seems quite unstable.

- Dark and Troubled Past: After his wife's death, he was forced to leave his son at an orphanage due to his inability to care for him while working as a barkeep. He also experiences monetary shortages and often tried to kill himself from depression.
- Shell-Shocked Veteran: His personal effects included a Purple Heart, along with a photo of him in a Naval dress uniform. The death of his wife while he was serving only compounds this trope.
