- Cool Old Guy: At forty-six, it's hard to justify Daniel for this trope. But killing for twenty-five years can age a man, and it certainly has taken its toll on our bespectacled anti-hero. He's got enough wisdom and experience for twenty lifetimes.
- Triple Shifter:"Last week I shot a diplomat between the eyes from eight hundred yards and was back home in time to feed the dog and write up my lesson plans for Monday's class. The week before I quelled an uprising of seditious rebels who were poised to topple a major government with incriminating pictures of one of its party heads. I can't say which one, but if you've seen the news, you can probably guess. I left Friday at 3:30 and was back in the door at 8:00 Sunday night. If there's one part of my life I can make work, it's that. I was raised to be punctual."

- Grim Reaper: Tall, clad in black, carries a large metallic weapon, cannot be reasoned with at all. Hm.
- Hero Killer: This has never been more true. Whereas many might weave together demigods and demons and every Gary Stu imaginable to create what they consider to be the End All, Be All of supreme characters, Blackbird needs no such luxuries. He is simple and direct - and that, my friends, is what makes him so terrifying. When the Blackbird comes, people will die.
- Scarily Competent Tracker: If you turn around and discover the Blackbird has been following you, you'll also discover that you've been dead for quite some time now.
