* HarsherInHindsight: "Hallowinx" in season had Mitzi and her friends make the Winx believe three sisters inside the house she rented were coming back as ghosts to avenge their dead fourth little sister and cause mayhem upon the house. While it's revealed it was all just a prank, the girls ponder if the "three sisters" weren't the Trix. [[spoiler: Come season 8, it's [[RetCon changed]] that the Trix aren't really sisters, but Icy ''does'' have a little sister who was attacked by an evil witch, leaving her bitter and in despair]].

%%** She was never liked to begin with, but during season 4, most fans really wanted Mitzi to just disappear already. Who is she and why is she hated?

** Bloom is basically treated like she can do no wrong, and becomes somewhat of a brat in [[SeasonalRot season five]], essentially getting upset every time something does not go her way. For instance, she solely blamed Diaspro for ruining her relationship with Sky, despite the fact that 1) Diaspro had no idea who she was 2) [[ConflictBall Bloom randomly decided she was one of the Trix in disguise and attacked her]] and 3) Sky was essentially cheating on Diaspro with Bloom, meaning he deceived two people, not just one. Sky is also never held accountable for it. What really sells it, however, is that Sky's father clearly seems to see Bloom as someone rushing headlong into a situation she doesn't understand and upsetting things for specious and self-serving reasons. He's thus cast as a nattering nabob of negativity for letting someone charging around the whole situation like a bull in a china shop.

** Season 2: [[EvilOverlord Lord Darkar himself]], the Shadow Phoenix, is the GreaterScopeVillain of the series. Born from the void as the Flame Dragon's [[DarkIsEvil opposite]], Darkar launched an attack on the Magical Dimension with the goal of destroying it, including ordering the the Ancestral Witches to attack and devastate Domino. Defeated and {{sealed|Evil In A Can}}, Darkar plots to steal the Relix Codex to gain ultimate power. He captures Pixies to learn the location of the Codex, torturing them and their friend Aisha by draining their magical powers. After learning that the Codex has been split into four pieces, he frees Trix from their imprisonment to serve him and captures and tortures Altea's new professor Avalon for months while placing his spy in his place. Darkar successfully obtains all the pieces of the Codex and brainwashes Bloom into being his minion while banishing Trix to the void since [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness he dosen't need them anymore]]. When her friends come to rescue her and stop Darkar, he almost kills them all before condemning Bloom to die with her friends after she breaks free of his control.

** Season 6 also gets flack due to how the season's reliance on nostalgia bait due to it being released during the series' 10th anniversary, bringing back the Pixies only to replace two of them (Tune and Digit) with entirely different characters for seemingly ''no reason''. Selina and Acheron were also seen as lackluster villains with the latter [[AntiClimaxBoss getting defeated in the same episode he is released in]], and the former for having a shallow connection to Bloom. Season 6 also introduced Bloomix and Mythix, the latter of which is disliked due to the CGI outfits, and the former for its earnings almost all relying on [[AssPull AssPulls]] (Such as Stella and Aisha getting their Bloomix's by doing ''backflips'' of all things).

* AuthorsSavingThrow: The Trix return a real threat in Season 5-6 after the infamous Season 3 where they had become [[ButtMonkey butt monkeys]]. Though this is [[BrokenBase hotly debated]] as many people believe that they have been overused.
%%** After the infamous implications about Bloom's parents, later seasons and newer dubs make clear that Bloom considers both her birth and adopted parents her "real" parents. What implications?

** A scene where a spell ends up killing a character (who then comes back to life) was changed to a sleeping spell that he was able to wake up from in the 4Kids dub. Not only does this make the scene make more sense, it also would remove some of the plot holes that come up later in the series.

** An infamous (and ''hilarious'') bit of [[{{Bowdlerise}} Bowdlerisation]] in the Nick recap of season 4 -- since the series had [[SoftReboot been changed]] so the Winx [[NotAllowedToGrowUp never grew up and graduated]], Nabu asking Aisha to marry him was changed to Nabu asking Aisha to "be my Forever Girlfriend," -- which was every bit as ridiculous as it sounds.

** Lucy gets a lot as well for [[NonstandardCharacterDesign defying the usual]] [[OnlyOneFemaleMold cookie-cutter face/body molds as all the other girls.]]

** Though all three of the Trix sisters are [[EvilIsSexy very]] [[EvilIsCool popular]], Darcy has the strongest fan base for her dynamic personality and appealing design.

* VindicatedByHistory: Both fans and detractors of the [=4Kids=] dub can agree that [=4Kids=] treated the show well. ''Winx Club'' originally aired via over-the-air broadcast television on [[Creator/{{Fox}} a major network]]. The worst treatment the [=FoxBox=]/[=4KidsTV=] block could give a show was having it air in the 7am EST slot, a time when the target audience might still be asleep.[[note]]Adding to 4Kids' infamous reputation, they've saved the worst treatment, both in dub production and TV broadcast, to [[Manga/TokyoMewMew shows]] [[Anime/OjamajoDoremi targeting]] [[GirlShowGhetto girls]].[[/note]] Even then, western markets air the block at a later time, while '''reruns''' got the same amount of promotion as new premieres.

%%** Darcy from the Trix. Why is he popular?

* AmericansHateTingle: Not the show itself, but some of its clothing style. Due to ValuesDissonance, some American fans wonder why the outfits have to be so revealing in earlier seasons. There's Stella's season 1 outfit, or Flora's Sophix, which are basically some well-placed leaves (Tecna seems to have the least skimpy outfits, but then again, they gave her that omega 'suit'). The introduction of more demure clothing in season 5 coincided with Creator/{{Viacom}} (an American company) becoming a co-owner of the Rainbow studio, at the same time Viacom's Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} started co-developing the show (although, as explained in MisBlamed below, it was actually Iginio Straffi himself who decided on the change).

** [[spoiler: The Wizards of the Black Circle are defeated ''less than five minutes'' into the last episode. The fandom was ''pissed,'' and it's usually considered the worst season finale, even with Season 5.]]
* {{Anvilicious}}: The "save the rainforest" mini-arc in Season 4.

** Occasionally, some of the girls' spells seem like this, such as Bloom's friendship flame.[[note]]The Winx realized they needed the help of everybody to defeat the zombies attacking and Bloom just so happened have a spell that allows her to share her power, something that you'd think would be a simple standard spell for all fairies.[[/note]]
** An even bigger ass pull is near the end of Season 7 where the Trix return, despite the fact they got sealed away in the Legendarium for eternity back in the end of Season 6.
** Season 8 is just full of these. First off, the return of [[spoiler:Valtor]] despite [[spoiler:being killed off in Season 3]]; once again, the Trix returning despite having been sealed away by the Swan of Infinity at the climax of Season 7; and also introducing a new {{retcon}} in the form of a tragic backstory literally at the last three episodes despite ''all'' their actions throughout the previous seasons, movies, and comic stories that put them well into the BeyondRedemption category.
*** And let's not forget the Trix were allowed in a dance contest without anyone recognizing them. These are the women who either tried to TakeOverTheWorld or allied with people trying to do so (often as DragonWithAnAgenda) several times over.

** Bloom. Loved by the TargetAudience but disliked by [[PeripheryDemographic many others]]. Tends to get the RonTheDeathEater treatment in fanfics quite a lot.
** Stella, too, because she is sometimes perceived as a stereotypical DumbBlonde, even more so in the later seasons.
** Riven. Some love him for his "bad boy" persona, morally gray nature, and/or his DarkerAndEdgier personality compared to the other specialists. Others hate him how much he's [[TookALevelInJerkass become a Jerkass]] over the series, as his character development is often reset to stir up drama with Musa and/or Sky.
** Diaspro definitely qualifies as this. Half of the fandom like and enjoy her character for her classiness, inner passion personality and wish she would’ve pulled a HeelFaceTurn like in the comics, while others despise her for being a typical SpoiledBrat cliche and were kind of glad Sky called off his relationship with her.
** Same can be said with Chimera.
** Nex. Half the fandom hates him with a passion because of his abrasive personality at first and the way he acted while competing with Roy for Aisha. The other half doesn't mind him, saying he got better after the LoveTriangle, and point out that at least he isn't [[FlatCharacter Roy]], who is probably the biggest scrappy of the series. [[spoiler: Nex won the love triangle.]]

* DorkAge: It's widely agreed that the series entered this during [[SeasonalRot Season 5]], and that it hasn't gotten better since. The series going through a SoftReboot, [[AudienceShift dumbed down]], and [[{{Bowdlerize}} the outfits being made less revealing]] went over as well as one could expect. It also doesn't help that ''every'' season post season 4 is considered to be [[SeasonalRot subpar at best]]. While [[WordOfGod Straffi stated]] that the changes were necessary for the series to continue, this has widely been derided as a FanDislikedExplanation. Many fans instead wish that the show had [[FanonDiscontinuity ended]] after season 4.

** Brandon, Helia, Timmy, and Nabu for the guys. Riven ''used'' to be this, until he TookALevelInJerkass and became one of the series' biggest Base-Breaking Characters.
** Darcy from the Trix.
** Mirta for being TheWoobie and adorable and cute PerkyGoth. Her friend Lucy gets a lot as well for [[NonstandardCharacterDesign defying the usual]] [[OnlyOneFemaleMold cookie-cutter face/body molds as all the other girls.]]
** Diaspro and Chimera count too, at least in their first appearance when they really looked threatening.
** The Wizards of the Black Circle, due to being the most competent villains in the series, and the only ones to [[spoiler: permanently kill one of the Heroes.]] The fan base was ''pissed'' at how [[AntiClimaxBoss easily they were defeated.]]
** Daphne is beloved for being a CoolBigSis, having a unique [[HeroicSacrifice backstory]], and having a really interesting design, though many were upset when [[spoiler: her backstory was changed and she was revived.]]

** Among all the fairy forms, the Enchantix seems to be the most popular, not only for being cute, but also because the requirement necessary to unlock it is a source of development and interesting storylines. Many fan-created original transformations out there are clearly based on Enchantix or include its main characteristics (like having shinier wings, sporting elaborate jewelry, and going barefoot or in some kind of sandals). The announcement that Enchantix would return in Season 8 made fans ''very'' happy, until [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks they saw]] [[{{bowdlerize}} how it had been changed]].
** Voice acting-wise, among the first Nickelodeon cast, there are those who really like Creator/RomiDames as Musa, mostly from how she sounds very similar to her predecessors get she still adds a bit of spark to stand out.

** The most infamous example is season 8. Many fans have chosen to ignore it due it bringing back a popular villain, [[spoiler:Valtor]], who had been killed at the end of a previous season, and also for giving a FreudianExcuse backstory to Icy. Not only does it {{retcon}} the fact that [[spoiler:the Trix are sisters]], something that WordOfGod and the show itself has said for ''years'', but the fact that it's a retcon is also blatantly obvious due to everything from the previous seasons contradicting it. And due to how [[EvilFeelsGood unabashedly]] [[ForTheEvulz evil]] Icy and the Trix have had been since the beginning, Icy [[UnintentionallyUnsympathetic certainly has]] ''[[UnintentionallyUnsympathetic not]]'' [[UnintentionallyUnsympathetic earned any sympathy from the fans]]. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking They also made Musa and Riven get back together.]]

* FirstInstallmentWins: The first four seasons are often favored more than the later seasons, which were written for younger audiences and considered subpar at best.
* FoeYayShipping:
** Darcy and Musa in season 1, because they both like Riven (albeit for different reasons).
** Bloom and Valtor in Season 3.

* HesJustHiding:
** [[spoiler: Since Morgana promised to look after Nabu until he "wakes up", some believed to think that he might not be dead after all. [[KilledOffForReal Nope.]]]]
** Lord Darkar and Valtor seem to get this treatment in fanfiction. This is HilariousInHindsight for the latter as of Season 8.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** [[WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug 11 years after this show premiered, there came another heroine girl whose name also starts with M, dons black hair with blue reflections, has cute pigtails, (half Asian), has blue eyes, and dons her trademark red outfit when transformed]]. The fact that a lot of fans compare Musa to Marinette also helps too.
** In season three Stella and Bloom try on dresses that look like a ShoutOut to ''{{WesternAnimation/Jem}}''. Then late in season four the girls form their own rock band. Coincidence?
** The FandomRivalry with ''WesternAnimation/{{WITCH}}'' would become relevant when ''Series/FateTheWinxSaga'', this franchise's live action adaptation, received complaints of resembling more ''W.I.T.C.H.'' than ''Winx Club''.
* HoYay:
** In Season 2, episode 13 [[spoiler:Amore, the pixie of love, turned two of the thugs attacking Aisha and Musa gay.]]
** Later that season, there is an episode where Palladium takes Avalon to the forest, carries him back to Alfea when he is hurt by a plant and starts ''blushing'' when he thanks him.

** Flora is also bent on defending Pumpkin!Mirta and is ecstatic after turning her back. To be fair, that could also just be Flora's caring nature and considering how hard it was to change Mirta back, Flora kind of had every reason to be ecstatic.

** There many scenes of the girls hugging each other a lot.

* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt:
** Yeah right, like you would really kill off the EnsembleDarkhorse LoveInterest. [[spoiler: Wait, what? You ''did?'']]
** This was the majority of fans' reasoning after Riven and Musa broke up in season 6. Many felt that they would make up near the end of the season or in the next one. It actually happened in the season ''after'' the next one, a timespan of around four years in real life, which was just long enough for fans to start thinking the break-up would stick.

* {{Moe}}:
** Flora, for being [[ShrinkingViolet shy]] and having [[SelfDeprecation low self-esteem]].
** Mirta as well.

** The "dragon sound effects" during Bloom's first Enchantix transformation are pretty bad. The ones for her "Charmix" transformation weren't too good either.

** The Cinélume dub in general, due to the low quality of the voice actors, ''especially'' in season 1 and the movies. It says something when even ''4Kids'' is considered to be better acted!
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S35nFJH8e4Y English trailer]] for season 7 ends with Bloom saying "We'll fairy you!" [[FlatWhat What...]] Needless to say, fans over the age of 7 weren't impressed with that.
** The Italian version had the girls giggle during the {{Transformation Sequence}}s. [[{{Woolseyism}} Thankfully, these are removed in other dubs.]]
* NarmCharm:
** The Cinélume dub, particularly in early season 1, is so stilted that it's kind of adorable in a high school drama club kind of way. Particularly Bloom.
** Tecna's angry rant at Stella about being ''emotionless'' (two episodes after the one where she'd been [[ItMakesSenseInContext temporarily turned into a robot]]) came straight out of nowhere, was melodramatic to [[Film/AttackOfTheClones Anakin]] levels, ended up being ironic [[DullSurprise due to her actress' performance]]... and it was funny as hell.
* NeverLiveItDown: The show features one scene where an AmbiguouslyBrown character's hair turns into an afro and it's portrayed as horrifying. This scene gets routinely discussed when discussing racism, black women, and natural hair in media.

** Bloom and Sky were arguably this since the start. Especially with the Bloom/Sky/Diaspro love triangle.

** Although being an occasional jerk, Riven's alignment is officially good after season 1. However the guy still gets treated as villain by some fans.
*** Likewise, Musa is treated like this by Riven's fangirls.

* RootingForTheEmpire:
** Some fans [[EvilIsCool root for]] [[EvilIsSexy them too.]] Also for Diaspro once she's a villain, 'cause [[DesignatedVillain she]] [[ThrowTheDogABone needs some revenge.]]

** She was never liked to begin with, but during season 4, most fans really wanted Mitzi to just disappear already.

** Roy, also from [[SeasonalRot Season 5]], is also this, due to being a complete FlatCharacter and a ReplacementScrappy to [[EnsembleDarkhorse Nabu]]. The fan base rejoiced when he was PutOnABus after Aisha's LoveTriangle ended.

* SelfFanservice: The Winx and the Trix receive this treatment a lot in fanart.

* SpecialEffectFailure: The CGI in [[SeasonalRot seasons 5 and 6]] isn't the best.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** In spades. Many people think that they could have done a lot more with characters like Chimera, Diaspro, Mirta and Nabu.[[note]]He sacrificed for his courage, only to end up dying before the halfway point of the finale. He was mentioned several times by Aisha and appeared in a illusion in season 5 and was never bought up again. It didn't help that while the moral of losing your first love was a valuable lesson to children, many of the show's older fans thought it was executed badly. [[WhatCouldHaveBeen At some point he was also planned to reappear in an episode where Tritannus wounds Nereus, but was rejected by Rainbow.]] A lot of the fandom were upset that when they learned he would not be brought back alive in the cartoon, thus instead replacing him with two new boyfriends for Aisha; Roy in season 5 and Nex in season 6. It didn't help that the former was a FlatCharacter with no personality while the latter was a complete jerkass whose relationship with Aisha was developed poorly. [[FanonDiscontinuity Many fans even like to never speak of Roy and Nex]]. If Nabu had survived pass the season, he would've finally proposed to Aisha and get married and live happily ever after, thus we would've ended up with the show's second married couple instead of Thoren and Daphne.[[/note]]
** Some fans would also like to see some of the comic-exclusive characters somehow be introduced to the main show, like Darko, Karel, Milly, Astrid, the Nymphs, [[ItMakesSenseInContext Bloom's Diary]]...
** Roxy, the Fairy of Animals. She's pretty much the reason Season 4 exists, yet by the time Season 5 rolls around, she was DemotedToExtra. Season 7, which focuses on enchanted animals, gave her a bigger role at first, but she was demoted to MissionControl after Brafilius stole her Time Stone.

* ToughActToFollow: The general consensus is the Believix is an alright transformation... but is easily forgotten due to being in the shadow of the fan-favorite transformation, Enchantix, which was its immediate predecessor. Never mind the rest of the fairy transformations which, barring the Bloomix, were extremely poorly received. And even then, the Bloomix was only praised by its amazing design and, by contrasts, is quite hated by its name and waste of potential.

** Most dubs remove the [[{{Narm}} narmful giggling]] that plagues the {{Transformation Sequence}}s in Italian.

* WTHCastingAgency: Some fans are annoyed that Bloom gradually becomes the lead singer of the Winx Club band starting in season 5 and replacing Musa. You know, ''the fairy of music''?

Not helping things are fact that the previous scene has Stella's straight blonde hair being fawned over. Creator/FourKidsEntertainment seemed to have realized the implications of this since their version has it so that the girl accidentally cast a spell that made her voice higher pitched and Stella's hair isn't being fawned over.

** The 4Kids dub changed a scene rife with UnfortunateImplications, so a scene in the original where a dark-skinned girl is in tears because her hair was magically turned from straight to an afro had the girl accidentally cast a spell that made her voice higher pitched, and Stella's straight blonde hair wasn't fawned over as it was in the original.

** [[spoiler:Acheron is released from the Legendarium, causes a little havoc, summons a giant turtle monster, and resealed in a new prison all in the span of one episode. He at least beat the Trix fairly easily.]]

* SlidingScaleOfSocialSatisfaction: Categorized as "Sweet with a Helping of Sour".

** If all the HomoeroticSubtext wasn't enough, Musa/Aisha is one of the most popular pairings. They are both passionate, {{Broken Bird}}s (the former's mother died and the latter's childhood was loveless) who have to rebel against their parent(s) so they can achieve their dreams (pursuing a musical career and [[RebelliousPrincess breaking out of the perfect princess]] ideal). They are also [[TomboyWithAGirlyStreak tomboys with a girly streak]] in the form of loving dancing, some cute things, and being sensitive inside. Coincidentally, they both maintain a VitriolicBestBuds friendship with Stella, as they clash the most against her.

** A platonic example occurs with Daphne and Sylvanas Windrunner from ''VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft''. As it turns out, they are MirrorCharacters in just about everything -- powerful warriors who get brutally murdered by {{The Dragon}}s of invading, {{Zerg Rush}}ing evil forces led by a SatanicArchetype. Then, they are cursed watching the ruins of their loved home planet/country for years as bodiless spirits. Fanfic ''Fanfic/{{Paradoxus}}'' makes this a key PlotPoint.

*** First, the premise of her going blind in Season 3 could have been great buildup for character development and Aisha having to learn how to deal with being handicapped, as it tied in perfectly with her character and what she stood for: a girl that would always rush in to help others now needing to learn to accept help herself (not to mention her two main character arcs were her distrusting nature and her fear of the dark, which went along nicely with being blind making her wrapped in eternal darkness and forced to rely on her friends). Instead, it gets fixed literally two episodes later with a DeusExMachina.

A common complaint is that the transformation has lost the elegance it originally had, making it resemble Butterflix more than Enchantix. The iconic Enchantix theme being replaced with the less well liked movie version just made the fan reception even worse.
