Also, at RTX 2014, the Achievement Hunter panel was so full of uncomfortable questions and people just requesting shoutouts that, when one fan announced that they were asking a real question, the hunters and audience ''cheered''.

* ''WebAnimation/DeathBattle'' has made it clear that there will no more be match-ups between characters from ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' and ''Franchise/{{Superman}}'' after the divisive Goku vs. Superman battles caused {{Flame War}}s from the results. That doesn't mean they won't use those franchises again - indeed, ComicBook/LexLuthor battled ComicBook/IronMan, and Hercule battled [[Franchise/StreetFighter Dan Hibiki]] after the two Goku vs. Superman fights were posted. * The website Website/KnowYourMeme ended up shutting down its "Cringeworthy" image gallery after a series of pictures depicting a drawing of an inflated WesternAnimation/{{Hercules}} kept getting posted and upvoted by fans, as well as the fact that the image gallery as a whole was becoming a haven for Flame Wars thanks to people uploading things they themselves found cringeworthy but others did not.[[note]]Especially political subject matter.[[/note]] The galleries for "Childhood Enhanced" and "Ruined Childhood" followed suit, mostly because "Childhood Enhanced" would mostly be pictures of female characters in more sexual scenes.

** Elsagate ended up causing this for Website/YouTube, although this has more to do with bringing the site into compliance with existing laws forbidding ads targeted at young children than it does with the fandom of the site. Essentially, channels were making inappropriate videos targeted at kids that featured characters from children's media (most prominently Elsa from ''[[WesternAnimation/Frozen2013 Frozen]]'', hence the name). [=YouTube=] largely ignored it until news outlets reported what was happening, at which point [=YouTube=] had to do something to salvage their reputation. However, the removal of "Elsagate" started a chain reaction that caused [=YouTube=] to implement a rating system, which consists of "kid-friendly" and "not kid-friendly". And only not-kid-friendly content is eligible for monetization. In essence, [=YouTube=] operates on the concept of RatedMForMoney taken to its logical extreme thanks to what was once a series of prank videos snowballing into changes across the entire website.

** During the six days that Joel had his channel hijacked by a [[{{Troll}} script]] [[InternetToughGuy kiddie]], Vinny was forced to call out fans for their incredibly volatile responses to the incident, which included attacking both himself and Joel for giving little vocal response to the incident. Vinny specifically called this VocalMinority "the worst kind of Vinesauce fans" and heavily reiterated that they were doing exactly what the hacker wanted them to do.

* This is the primary reason why uploaders disable comments on Website/YouTube, far more so than OrwellianEditor reasons. Case in point, Wrestling/{{WWE}}'s official [=YouTube=] Channel. However, knowing the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community), one would only be able to guess how many comments they would receive about Wrestling/RingOfHonor, Wrestling/{{TNA}}, Wrestling/ChrisBenoit, or the myriad of other "We Do Not Speak of Such Things" topics that they would undoubtedly be inundated with.

* LetsPlay/CaptainSparklez is mostly positive about fan feedback, but on occasion, he gets fed up with StopHavingFunGuys. In particular, he very nearly canceled one of his modded ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'' shows because fans expected him to know how every single mod that he had worked - even though he had installed the over ''one hundred'' of them.

** In September of 2020, Coco Kiryu and Haato Akai were placed on suspension as a result of mentioning Taiwan as an independent nation while discussing viewer metrics in a livestream -- not in support of it, and not in any way that disparaged China, simply acknowledging its existence as a nation that is independent from the Republic of China, something that is a hot-button issue in the Chinese government. This caused relations to sour between China and hololive's parent company, Cover. The main purpose of the suspension was not necessarily as punishment, but to protect Coco and Haato from Chinese nationalists that would troll and harass them. After three weeks, their suspension ended, and they offered apologies in their following streams, but a sizeable contingent of Chinese trolls continued to call for Coco's termination, souring relations further. Unwilling to fire one of their biggest stars, and with the hololive name becoming anathema in China, Cover ultimately decided to cease all business in China, which had the unfortunate effect of resulting in the closure of their fledgling Chinese branch. For a mercy, the streamers from hololive CN were allowed by Cover to keep the near entirety of their stream donations until their departure (a plan to let them keep their characters unfortunately did not come to fruition, possibly due to some of the CN talents harassing Taiwanese CN members).

* WebAnimation/{{Hololive}} Generation 5's Mano Aloe accidentally leaked footage of her character via test stream before her official debut, which resulted in a two-week suspension. However, "anti-fans" then uncovered her personal information and used it to send her harassing phonecalls and [=DMs=] on social media, as well as tracking down her family members and even her then-boyfriend (with their relationship ending specifically because of the harassment he was getting) and harassed ''them'' as well. After the suspension was up, COVER Corporation (who runs hololive) announced that Aloe had decided to permanently retire from the role because she was "not physically or mentally prepared to continue with her activities".

* Littlenommer was known for not only being the girlfriend of Trott of LetsPlay/HatFilms but also being quite involved with the fandom on Tumblr. This changed in 2015 when fans harassed her after she asked them to tone down the shipping and sexualization of her boyfriend, which caused her to temporarily turn off anonymous asks. The last straw was harassment during a stream by the Sirs, followed by a mind-blowingly stupid post [[http://midnight-spyro14.tumblr.com/post/133054814756/what-is-your-response-to-littlenommer-having-to that accused her of being insecure in her relationship]], basically blaming her for the harassment from the fandom. Littlenommer vowed to never moderate for the trio again and temporarily deactivated her Tumblr.

* RuleThirtyFour (the site) pulled toddlercon images off of their servers thanks to pressure from their hosting company Dreamhost. The following April, after they had completed a move to Dutch servers, the site put up a fake FBI warning for AprilFoolsDay, and claimed LoliconAndShotacon were about to go. This was helped along by the website E-Hentai actually having to do this at the same time. The response when the veil was lifted was a hacker taking over Rule 34 and replacing everything with pictures of tigers (both tanks and animals), then his penis, and finally three straight weeks of [=DDoS=], which obliterated a server and made the site run like crap for years. Interestingly, the second April Fools' joke went ''completely unnoticed'' due to the furor over the first, with a total of three comments over the following week about it. The second 2010 April Fools' joke? Aliasing Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles to [[MemeticMutation Big_Green_Talking_Turtles]], Baxter's infamous line in the first season. Was lampshaded later when the site ran a vote for what missing features from the move were to return. This being the internet, the joke option won, and so everything was turned into Atari Jaguars instead, continuing the big cat theme the troll had started.[[note]]In reality, their code was on that dead server, and their coder was chased off during the first April, so there was no one to repair them anyway.[[/note]]

* Creator/RickyGervais expressly pointed out that the reason they stopped giving ''Radio/TheRickyGervaisShow'' away for a period before charging for it and just charged upfront for it was because they were getting annoyed at fans whining that they had missed out on the brief free period.

* Even when {{Creator/JoshScorcher}} begged people not to harass the target of his response videos (such as Creator/LilyOrchard, with whom Josh has a long-standing feud), it still happened anyway. As a result of some of the more extreme members of his fanbase, Josh decided to stop doing response videos altogether.

* Bald Dumbo Rat, head of producing ''AudioPlay/DoctorWhoovesAndAssistant'', has a side-blog called ''Lovestruck Derpy''. However, when he uploaded voiced-over dubs of the pictures on Website/YouTube, they became one of his channel's most popular videos. Unfortunately, since delays are long between updates of the dub, rabid fans attacked him and even gave his boyfriend death threats when they responded calmly. He is on the verge of taking down the blog, and posted a [[DearNegativeReader response video]] saying that, surprise surprise, these insults aren't helping at all:

However, due to the comments section becoming a total mess, he switched to Reddit instead due it being more organized and fans being considerably more rational.
* LetsPlay/PewDiePie has disabled his comments section at least once. This is because things tend to degenerate very quickly into flame wars, making it hard for him to get any genuine fan feedback. He's also had trolls accuse him falsely of beating his girlfriend, which he did not like.
* On May 2014, Manu Larcenet closed his blog where he published exclusive cartoons after they were reused without prior authorization.
* FanfomVIP [[Creator/MxBones Rebornica]], previous owner of a popular ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' AU, decided to leave the fandom and stop working on the AU due to death threats, complaints about their work, [[NeverLiveItDown being forced to apologize for things they had done years ago]], and extremely uncomfortable but popular [[DracoInLeatherPants mischaracterizations]] of their versions of the original characters. They ended up leaving the AU to a friend that would do the AU justice, and now they're free to work on their new project, but it's still horrible to see. On March 10, 2015, Rebornica and Cam, who they left the AU to, announced that they were going to "bury" the AU after a fair deal of abuse from the ''Five Nights at Freddy's'' fandom. Also, due to people that refuse to [[NeverLiveItDown let the past]] remain in the past, they have, as of August 31st, shut down their Tumblr account until further notice. It is currently unknown if they'll ever return to the site.

* In the beginning of 2015, the {{Creepypasta}} Wiki's chat room was taken down for multiple reasons (mainly, drama). Before that, it was taken down a few times as well, but restored after a short while. After the 2015 removal, it's gone for good.
* The WebVideo/GameGrumps had to take down an episode of their ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'' playthrough because they were making fun of the less-than-helpful FAQ they'd been using and made the mistake of mentioning the author's name, which led to a few fans tracking the author down and harassing him, some even going so far as to hunt down his personal phone number. The episode was reposted later with the author's name censored, and Arin and Dan sent him a personal apology; thankfully, the author was cool about the whole thing[[note]]especially since he admitted that he wrote the FAQ when he was in middle school, so naturally it wasn't as well-written as it could have been[[/note]], and noted that the vast majority of Grumps fans in the original video were defending the author or calling out the VocalMinority who suggested harassing him.

** For discussion: Orchard hates the [[VocalMinority Vocal Minorities]] of fans for various Western-animated cartoons for toxic behavior or fandoms not policing their own. Most of the problems she has with toxic fans wind up in her opinion series ''Glass of Water'', where Orchard calls out fans on how they're only making creators' jobs harder. She especially calls out [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic bronies]] quite a bit, arguing that their reputation as a toxic fandom is deserved because of a refusal to police and/or purge [[LoonyFan the more extreme members of their fandom]].

Even though it was made with anybody's usage in mind, it has been viewed as the laughingstock of the internet with the video-making website being used to make videos where characters from shows like WesternAnimation/{{Caillou}} [[YouAreGrounded get grounded]] and sometimes assaulted. However, the Comedy World themes were still accessible through a hidden menu in the main video maker, until January 4, 2016, when the the non-business themes were removed as part of the company's October 2015 announcement on their transition from Flash to [=HTML5=]. Between the level of vitriol such [=YouTubers=] received, and the fact that it's a game [[MisaimedFandom best experienced blind]], this frequently caused many Let's Players to end their runs of the game prematurely, and/or otherwise ruined the experience for them. Some of the more infamous cases include:
** One of the biggest cases regarding a Let's Player clashing with the ''Undertale'' fandom is apparently {{LetsPlay/Mangaminx}}. She got pretty much the whole game spoiled in the comments on her first video despite her explaining extensively in the video and description that she wanted to play blind. She then proceeded to kill every character she could out of pure spite, only to now amuse herself with videos where she ridicules the comments she gets on both her ''Undertale'' videos and her ridicule videos. ** LetsPlay/{{Markiplier}} had a series of videos set up of him playing the the game. However, after two videos, he stopped releasing them after the fandom got angry at his given voices for the characters and he didn't play the way ''they'' wanted to play, dropping spoilers along the way. Mark didn't touch the game for a long while before he opted to return to it via Twitch. And just to be sure he didn't get spoiled or harassed again, Mark made it a point to completely ignore the Twitch chat the entire time.
* Cow Chop, a comedy group under Creator/RoosterTeeth, ended up getting evicted out of the home they used for filming when someone contacted their landlord and doxxed them about the damage done to the house.
* LetsPlay/RoahmMythril ended up cutting his Let's Play of the first ''VideoGame/MakeAGoodMegaManLevelContest'' short due to the hostility of the comments in his videos personally attacking the judges of the contest, especially against Blackmore Darkwing. Not only did it greatly upset Roahm, but it also greatly upset [=SnoruntPyro=], the contest's leader, so much that she asked him not to specifically cover the second game due to this. Fortunately subverted in the end, as Roahm eventually recovered from this ordeal and announced that he will be finishing the playthrough; as well as going to do a playthrough of the second game after all.
* It's highly unlikely that ''LetsPlay/PBGHardcore'' will do a Hardcore series on a public server again [[spoiler: after [=McJones=] was killed by a player during [=MineZ=] #2. [=ACrispyWaluigi=] was a fan that had been actively stalking the group, trying to give them items they would need for their quest and wouldn't leave them alone despite them asking several times. [=McJones=] thought that killing his character would finally make him stop and instead got killed and derailed the mission]]. And there were also fans checking the servers to see who was logged on (ie, who was still alive) and spoiling the series.
* redhotsonic, a [=YouTuber=] who covers various ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' games, fan games, and {{Game Mod}}s, ended up going on a hiatus from [=YouTube=] for several months after harassment from an aggressive troll, who had made several threats towards him and his family (including his, at the time, ''unborn child''), as well as doxxing several other people as well. Fortunately subverted, as he has since recovered from this and returned to uploading videos.
* If LetsPlay/NintendoCapriSun is playing blind through a plot-heavy game on Twitch, he'll disable alerts, place the chat in followers only mode, and have the mods on full alert to immediately time out anyone who hints at a spoiler. This is due to his blind run of ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaTriggerHappyHavoc'' where a troll subscribed to the channel with a username that spoiled the name of the BigBad for all to see.
* In January 2018, Creator/GavinFree, a well-known member of Creator/RoosterTeeth and creator of ''WebVideo/TheSlowMoGuys'', and his girlfriend, former Rooster Teeth member Meg Turney, had a crazed fan break into their house with a shotgun with the intention of killing Gavin as he had an obsession with Meg and hated Gavin for being with her. While Gavin has seemingly mostly recovered from the incident, he stopped doing meet and greets with fans at live events, had his RTX schedule privatized, and significantly scaled back his online presence and social media output. Meg didn't recover as well since her [=YouTube=] channel went silent for six months before she put up a video letting her fans know of what's going on, that she had been nervous to return to her videos in fear of a copycat.

** In 2018, [=YouTube=] severely tightened its monetization rules so that eligibility is only possible for those with at least 4,000 hours of overall watch time and at least 1,000 subscribers. Though advertising on inappropriate content was not a new problem, there are indications everywhere that the controversies involving Logan Paul had everything to do with it.

* In a Reddit AMA, ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' co-writer and co-director Miles Luna stated that he cannot write scenes involving his character Jaune Arc due to the fact that he's lost interest in doing so due to fans accusing Miles of making Jaune his self-insert.
* After {{WebVideo/Chadtronic}} showcased him in the (now deleted) "DEEP INTO YOUTUBE 1" video, Obscure [[DerangedAnimation (and surreal)]] 3D animator Nicolas Fedorov had his videos explode in popularity. However, this is one of the few instances where the ColbertBump turned into a ''bad'' thing, as he became increasingly impatient with the influx of fans coming in from Chadtronic's channel, lashed out against them, and eventually purged all of his media accounts and went off the internet permanently. The only way to watch his videos now (or the first "DEEP INTO YOUTUBE" for that matter) was to KeepCirculatingTheTapes.
* For a short period after retiring from updating his review site, Creator/MarkPrindle would use his Facebook account to briefly post about albums he listened to recently. This changed in part because of fans constantly asking him to just un-retire his site since he's still reviewing things: Instead he started simply posting a list of music he listened to, with factual information included in parentheses (primarily year of release, genre, and where the artist is from), inviting his followers to discuss ''their'' opinions in comments. However if someone asks his opinion about a particular album he'll give an answer.
* WebVideo/TheMysteriousMrEnter deleted his Twitter account in early 2020 following heavy backlash, criticism, and general hostility towards him and his Nick-O-Rama series.
* [=YouTube=] video game cover artist "Little V" Mills did two covers of songs from ''VideoGame/Persona5'': one of "Life Will Change", and one of "Rivers in the Desert". On March 10, 2015, Rebornica and Cam, who they left the AU to, announced that they were going to "bury" the AU after a fair deal of abuse from the ''Five Nights at Freddy's'' fandom. Also, due to people that refuse to [[NeverLiveItDown let the past]] remain in the past, they have, as of August 31st, shut down their Tumblr account until further notice. It is currently unknown if they'll ever return to the site.

** For discussion: Orchard hates the [[VocalMinority Vocal Minorities]] of fans for various Western-animated cartoons (especially [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic bronies]]) for toxic behavior or fandoms not policing their own.
