History Webcomic / Consolers

"Consoler", by the way, is an in-comic term for a game company who makes their own console. Of course, these are very big, mighty and important figures in the industry, but being a Consoler also carries a lot of risk and responsibility to keep that status. * [[AfterTheEnd After The Crash]]: the comic takes place after UsefulNotes/TheGreatVideoGameCrashOf1983 'til now with so far one [[JustBeforeTheEnd Just Before The Crash]] arc.

A webcomic by our very own {{Tropers/Zanreo}}, started in February 2013 and hosted on Website/ComicFury and Tapastic, Consolers is a webcomic starring AnthropomorphicPersonifications of video game companies. It covers video game history, current events, and various fun facts and stories about the companies, focusing [[EnsembleCast (arguably)]] on the "big 3" console creators Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

** Taito also did this with her workdesk when being annoyed over been given too much work - hitting Square Enix in the process.

** Sega's hair is clearly based on VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog.

* HeWhoMustNotBeSeen: Phillips is only mentioned by Nintendo and never seen. Which… is probably for the [[UncannyValley best]].

* NiceHat: Nintendo's "Mario-Link cap". Ameritendo and Eurotendo also wear similar hats.
** Game Freak's Pokéball hat
** Valve, of course. Her hat even has the Steam symbol!
** Konami's helmet.
** Atlus's hat.
** Niantic's hat.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: Considering each game company (and even a few other companies) has a potential personification in this comic, it has potential for and implications of this. As of early 2016, almost 30 different recurring characters have shown up.

* HairDecoration: Nintendo's D-pad shaped hair clip. (Her entire ponytail is actually a clip-on)
** Eurotendo wears two similar hair clips.
** Amerisony wears triangle, circle, square and cross-button hair clips.

* BlueAndOrangeMorality: given the [[AnthropomorphicPersonification nature]] of the comic is there really no protagonist or any antagonist. They can however [[TookALevelInJerkass Take A Level In Jerkass]] and do bad things so it can also fall into GreyAndBlackMorality as they are companies who want your money after all.

* TableFlip: Used [[http://consolers.webcomic.ws/comics/pl/541768 here]] when Nintendo convinces Rare to make Dinosaur Planet into a Star Fox game.

Most of the news- or fun facts-based comics are [[{{Yonkoma}} one-page gags]], while history-based arcs tend to go over several pages.

** Every Consoler becomes a TakeThat against their inspiration at some point, but EA is consistently the biggest JerkAss. Konami too, as of 2015.

* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: EA is often rumored to be doing this to the companies he buys.

* TheAgeless: Companies don't physically age (120+ year old Nintendo being a good example) and won't die from aging. However, they can still die, usually from going bankrupt or otherwise going out of business - they have to "keep themselves alive" as a company. However, as long as they manage to stay in business they'll still stay alive even for hundreds of years.

* OlderThanTheyLook: Most characters look like they're in their older teens or early twenties, even when representing companies that have existed for 30 or 40 or 50 years. In 125-year old Nintendo's case it's bordering on Really700YearsOld.
** YoungerThanTheyLook: On the other side, companies started just 5-10 years ago will often look older than they "really" are.

* OnlyOneName: Most of the characters only go by the name of the company they represent. For characters with two-part names like Square Enix, it's more of one name in two parts rather than a first name and a surname.

* MadeOfIncendium: Capcom manages to set a SNES console and game cartridge on fire ''just by putting the cart into the console.''

* BiggerIsBetter: Apparently not the case for the original Xbox, which here is shown as a ridiculously huge device almost as big as Microsoft himself, which he struggles to lift. He ends up dropping it on top of himself and getting stuck underneath it.
