* GoLookAtTheDistraction: When Season 2's first episode begins, the title scene starts collapsing around Team RWBY causing Ozpin to intervene. When the girls try to explain that they think they're being sabotaged, Ozpin dismisses them and tells them to go and play in a forest full of monstrous Grimm. When the students later accuse him of sending them on meaningless quests to recover his lost property, he shouts out "Look! A distraction!" before fleeing their presence.

This is just reinforcing the narrative that Jaune lacks combat training. It therefore isn't a case of using real life to disrupt or subvert the narrative expectations within the story. Removed for being trope misuse.

As per the Reality Ensues clean-up thread, these are not examples of the trope.

** In "Kick Off", Mercury's boot guns go off as he's trying to kick the soccer ball, accidentally shooting it instead. The ball deflates and, because no-one brought a spare ball, the game is ended with the first kick of the match. In the show, living things have Aura to protect them from damage, but inanimate objects that are not reinforced by Dust technology behave just as they do in the real world.
** In "Nondescript Holiday Spectacular", Roman attempts to steal everyone's holiday spirit, just like the Grinch does. However, he discovers that stealing the holiday spirit is completely different to stealing a person's ability to be happy for other reasons. Like the Grinch, Roman's heart grows three sizes at the end. [[spoiler:He promptly suffers a heart attack as a result.]]

But even ''Chibi'' is more surreal and humourous than the earliest volumes of the main show.
