Yes, yes, think about it! Po is obviously not really the son of the duck who owns the restaurant. Because he's a bear and not a bird, correct? Wrong! Panda bears are not really bears, they're raccoons, their true name being "giant pandas" with "red pandas" or simply "pandas" being a subspecies of large reddish raccoon. Who in the ''WesternAnimation/KungFuPanda'' universe is a reddish racoon, and not only that, but one who was good enough a martial artist to have fathered the Dragon Warrior? I rest my case.

[[WMG: Tai Lung will [[HeelFaceTurn redeem himself]]]]
[[UsedToBeASweetKid He was once good as a child]], and he was working very hard with Shifu to train and really wanted to make him proud. When Oogway denied him the Dragon Scroll he had been training for due to darkness in his heart, Tai Lung unwittingly gave in to this darkness; he became enraged, believing to have been betrayed, and tried to get the Dragon Scroll by force only to be defeated by a fat panda of all things. At some point however -- possibly in the fourth movie -- he will finally see what Oogway meant all those years back and realize that all the rage and lust for power he had was ''exactly'' why he couldn't have the Dragon Scroll, opening his eyes and leading him to redemption as he discovers that the only traitor here was himself all along. It may be partial, it may take a while, or it could be a quick turnaround... whatever time it takes, Tai Lung just might be able to defy the darkness in him and possibly reconcile with Shifu.

Knowing Dreamworks, this idea is too good to pass up. Or his parents simply couldn't afford to raise him or disappeared without a trace.

Knowing Dreamworks, [=DreamWorks=], this idea is too good to pass up. Or his parents simply couldn't afford to raise him or disappeared without a trace.

From what we've learned in the few tidbits Dreamworks had released, Lord Shen did something horrible after his mother figure The Soothsayer told him about a vision twenty years ago. Given that Po must confront his past in the second movie, it may have to do with what happened to Po's birth parents. My guess is The Soothsayer foresaw Po as either defeating Shen, stopping his plans in some way or was just his biggest threat. Deciding to get rid of Po before he had the chance to stand in his way, he tricked The Soothsayer into revealing where Po was and promptly murdered Po's family. Po somehow managed to escape and was later found by Mr. Ping who adopted him and loved him as his son. Therefore Shen, none the wiser, thinks he's safe never knowing Ping came and took his new son to live in the Valley of Peace where he'd grow up safe and loved. Given Po's age is somewhere in his early twenties it could fit.

They were both adopted themselves, so it makes sense that they would want to continue the pattern. Also, the Kung Fu Panda universe isn't the same sort of fantasy land established in the ''Franchise/{{Shrek}}'' series (where anything goes), so it's unlikely that Creator/DreamWorks will give us MixAndMatchCritters like they did with Donkey and Dragon. Again, ''if'' Po and Tigress become a couple...

* InterspeciesRomance has never been a problem for Creator/DreamWorks though. They've paired up Donkey and Dragon from ''Franchise/{{Shrek}}'' and Gloria and Melman from ''Franchise/{{Madagascar}}''. At this point it wouldn't make sense for them to shy away from Po/Tigress, especially since they've already established a beautiful relationship between them. They didn't put that much care and thought into the other interspecies couples, which were both mostly PlayedForLaughs.
** You mean the relationship where Tigress seems to be completely shocked by the very idea that Po might ''possibly'' think of her as anything but the older sister (and so are everyone else) and which hadn't gotten anywhere near romantic in ''10 years'' that must have passed between the movies according to time benchmarks given us by the characters? I mean sure, less plausible things happen in the movies all the time, so if Dreamworks will want it, they will do it, but currently there is very little reason to expect any changes in status quo between them.

[[WMG: Zeng quit after Tai Lung's escape.]]
It was Shifu's fault that Zeng was at Chorh-Gom Prison when Tai Lung escaped. {Technically, it was Zeng's fault that Tai Lung escaped, but that's another story.) Because of this, Zeng decided to quit his job so that he wouldn't have to risk his life (and feathers) anymore. That's why he never appears in the second and third movie.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

Oogway may have been an Ancient Mutan...uh, Kungfu Turtle but to casually defeat with a mere touch, a much larger, possibly even stronger and faster, younger, furious, in the midst of a Roaring Rampaging, combatant that was the prime candidate for Champion of your own school of martial arts takes WeakButSkilled UpToEleven!

Expanding on the above idea that the villain will turn into VillainousCounterparts (PsychoRangers?), and given Mantis' stated desire to find a nice girl, settle down and get his head bitten off, the next villain will be a female Praying Mantis. We get a FatalAttraction for Mantis.

[[WMG: In the upcoming Netflix series ''Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight'', we're going to have yet another RetCon and the Emperor of China will be another species than what was established in ''Paws of Destiny'' and past works]]
In ''Legends of Awesomeness'' it was implied the Emperor was some kind of avian since he was established as Zan's uncle. And then we got the water buffalo Lu Kang established as Emperor in the series finale. Then came ''Paws of Destiny'' where the Emperor Kang Zi and his daughter Xiao were a pair of lynxes who apparently ruled the land for quite a while. To make things more convoluted, the Emperor was a goat in the 4d motion simulator ''Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor's Quest'' and in the game ''Tales of Po'', the Emperor is shown with a human silhouette. And since the franchise seems to change up Chinese emperors like the average person changes their underwear, we should expect yet another change-up and see Xiao retconned away, with some other animal as the Emperor of China this time.

[[WMG: Tai Lung isn't dead.]]
Po didn't learn the Wuxi Finger Hold, ''he was self-taught'', and thus didn't correctly execute the advanced kung fu technique that normally sends mortals under the hold, to the Spirit Realm. Tai Lung wasn't there in the third film as a "jombie". Po exploded Tai's chi, but is shown in the finale of the first film to be ''coughing and inhaling'' the essence of the fallen-Kung fu master. The [[EnemyWithin disembodied Tai Lung]] finds to his horror, he's [[IronicHell trapped inside the fat panda]] he detests and could never defeat in combat.

Foe Yay has been cut

In the short, Shifu could be seen smiling. According to a legend, Shifu used to smile. However, it could be a case of the UnreliableNarrator Po is. It wasn't specified when Tigress was adopted but if it is true, then Tigress and Tai Lung used to have a big brother-little sister relationship. If you ignore the FoeYay, you can see that Tai Lung still cares about his 'family' especially Shifu. The 'family' fell apart when Oogway denied Tai Lung the Dragon Scroll.

If Shifu had learned inner peace, he could have waited for Oogway to finish the candles. Oogway might've given him the Dragon Scroll, or not mentioned Tai Lung at all. But Shifu's lack of inner peace made it necessary to choose Po.
