* ''Manga/ShamanKing'': Kyouyama Anna serves as a good example of Tsundere, though more of the tsuntsun than the deredere. In the flashback chapters when we witness Yoh and Anna's first meeting, young Anna is very cold to Yoh, saying he's lame and that she cannot believe he's her future husband. [[spoiler: It is later revealed that Anna is being followed by an oni of her own creation, who attacks anyone who tries to get close to her, which is partly -- but not wholly -- the reason [[ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies why she pushes Yoh away]]]]. When Yoh promises to become the Shaman King for her, Anna begins to warms up to him. However, she never lets herself go very much into deredere, maintaining that tsuntsun with Yoh by forcing him through [[TrainingFromHell incredibly difficult training]] and often refusing to help him out of near-death situations. However, her affections for him are seen now and again, and it's easy to see in those moments how much Yoh means to her. [[spoiler: Like when she briefly broke down crying when Yoh was possessed by Tokagerou to save Ryu, her reaction to Yoh's EvilTwin Hao trying an IHaveYouNowMyPretty on her, or her serious HeroicBSOD when Yoh almost dies at the hands of Hao]].

Vermeil's appearance ends up leading to a total collapse of any chance she might have had if she had tried to be more forward with her feelings.

* Oddly, the main Shaymin of the 11th movie ''Anime/PokemonGiratinaAndTheSkyWarrior'' was quite {{tsundere}}, not to mention cocky and snobby too. (For people who don't know... [[http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Shaymin_(anime) Shaymin]] are a species of Pokemon, not a human.)
** It wouldn't be the first time a Pokemon acted like a tsundere. That award goes to the shiny Celebi from ''VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeonExplorers of Time/Darkness/Sky'', towards her [[BodyguardCrush loyal knight Grovyle]]. (Okay, technically Celebi are genderless, but trust me, this one was female.)

* In the ''Anime/TigerAndBunny'' drama [=CDs=] we see that Kotetsu's ''wife'' was {{Tsundere}} towards him, at least when they were still in high school. When she [[FirstNameBasis started calling him by his first name]], for example.

** Uryu Ishida constantly claims that he has ulterior motives for helping Ichigo or that he was [[IWasJustPassingThrough just passing through]]. After the [[spoiler: time skip]], this becomes such an obvious excuse that he stops even bothering to make it.

** We also have[[DrillSergeantNasty Kensei]] [[TheBigGuy Muguruma]], who spends most of his time yelling and scowling, but he also saves Hisagi from a Hollow as a child, and there's his ShipTease with Mashiro.

* In ''Manga/DemonSlayerKimetsuNoYaiba'', Tanjiro’s crow of all things, it always acts bossy towards Tanjiro, even pecking him a lot, and sees Tanjiro as his subordinate, but it will not tolerate other crows not showing proper respect towards Tanjiro, seen when Muichirou’s crow thought Tanjiro was a lesser demon slayer and his crow immediately picked an argument with her.

** Mio is a deliberate homage to the ShanaClone trope (which makes one wonder why she didn't get [[Creator/RieKugimiya that voice]]), and she loves to ''[[WhipItGood whip]]'' Keima. She partially loses her tsun side after her arc.

* ''Anime/MacrossFrontier'': Sheryl Nome demonstrates this in moderation, though her particularly ''Dere'' moments means she's about to hit you with TheTease. Has a crush on a certain someone in the Harsh list, and some LesYay SempaiKohai vibes with her {{Moe}} love rival Ranka.

* In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast'' [[Manga/TheLegendOfZelda Akira Himekawa manga]], Ghanti starts out as a minor antagonist, but begrudgingly finds herself developing feelings for Link.

*** Nami's attitude to "love-cook" [[ChefOfIron Sanji]] is a strong example; despite casually flirting with him on their first meeting (so she wouldn't have to pay for the food) Nami remains oblivious and uncaring to Sanji [[AllTakeAndNoGive always throwing himself at her]], only beating him up when he gets too grabby. Though she shows the occasional care for his safety in battle, Sanji only gets her annoyed with his antics... ''until he leaves on Zou''. Not only does Nami chase after him in the anime, [[BelatedLoveEpiphany she sulks]] for two days, cries about him in Luffy's arms, won't shut up about Sanji for the rest of the Zou arc, and is the first to volunteer to go with Luffy to save him. [[spoiler: Nami's harsh side quickly returns when she sees Sanji again (even crying out in joy) but is shocked to see him beat down Luffy and indirectly insult her (as an act for his family). Nami buys his ploy and [[ArmorPiercingSlap slaps him]] in the face and bids him goodbye, heartbroken. Despite saying she doesn't care about Sanji after that, Nami becomes very upset when Sanji's bride-to-be, Pudding, plans to murder him]].

* ''Manga/MaisonIkkoku'': Kyoko Otonashi expresses Tsundere qualities as a ''subversion'' of the YamatoNadeshiko personality: basically, her outwardly [[YamatoNadeshiko perfect Japanese housewife]] persona hides her childish, almost bipolar bouts of tsundere-ness. She is an interesting case, as in that when the audience meets her parents, it's shown that her mother is a tsundere and in flashbacks, that Kyoko was even more openly a tsundere in her youth. (Interacting with her parents seems to bring this out in her). It's as if Kyoko is the mascot for teenage tsunderes who manage to grow-up and become the YamatoNadeshiko that most of them want to be (and it's been speculated that she became a YN [[WidowWoman after having been widowed very early]], rather than anything else). However, her old tsundere behavior is still there, ready to breakout if she relives old childhood experiences.

* Domon Kasshu from ''Anime/MobileFighterGGundam'' develops some Tsundere traits as a part of his CharacterDevelopment in the second part of the series. Some of his later scenes with [[BattleCouple his partner]] [[HotScientist Rain]] [[MsFanservice Mikamura]] [[IUhYouToo mark the point]] [[TwiceShy very nicely]].

* ''Literature/{{Slayers}}'': Lina can be seen as a Tsundere in the anime, specially obvious in the ''NEXT'' season where [[spoiler: she blushes and stammers when Gourry calls her out and mentions his BodyguardCrush on her]] and later when [[spoiler: she has a brief but ''very'' intense breakdown after he's kidnapped by Phibrizzo]].
* ''Literature/SoICantPlayH'': Initially, [[FieryRedhead Lisara]] is dismissive towards Ryosuke's attempts to hit on her, because all he really cared about was [[LustObject her body.]] So she usually berates him, sometimes violently, when he annoys her. But as his feelings gradually change to genuine affection, it causes her opinion of him to change as well, though she stubbornly refuses to admit it. The first clear indication is seen in episode 4:

* ''Literature/TrinityBlood'''s Astharoshe "Asta" Asran. Her relationship with Abel Nightroad, though not romantic (at least, [[{{Shipping}} not in canon]]), has strong elements of this. At first she violently threatens him (and does so again each time they meet), but comes to see him as one of her closest comrades. And that word [[TrueCompanions is extremely meaningful to Asta]].

* ''Literature/VenusToMamoru'': Ayako displays the most explosive temper towards just about anyone who pisses her off, but is absolutely dere-dere towards her beloved Mamoru. Though her confession of her feelings towards Mamoru at the very start of the series was rather tsun-tsunish in approach (and it was perhaps the only time he was intimidated by her).

* Mai Sakurajima in ''Literature/RascalDoesNotDreamOfBunnyGirlSenpai''. Very caring, flirty and teasing towards Sakuta, normally calm and really kind, but also emotionally sensitive and can be prone to mood-swings.

* In ''Literature/DateALive'', [[ShanaClone Kotori Itsuka]] is Harsh as the Commander (Black Ribbons) [[SplitPersonality and]] Sweet as Shido's cute little sister (White Ribbons). She has more of an extreme role segregation rather than a true SplitPersonality , so it's interesting that her way of dealing with Shido changes also.

[[ShipTease Again, Tsuntsun to Accelerator's face, Deredere when he's not around]].
** The titular Index also show traits of this, seeing as she usually bites Touma if he's (to her own perspective) [[ClingyJealousGirl flirting with other girls]], or if he [[BigEater forgets to feed her]]. However, it is [[AllThereInTheManual noted]] that Touma is the ''only one'' she bites, implying that it is a sign of affection towards him, and can show traits of her deredere side (well, [[{{Flanderization}} at least in the light novels, anyway.]])

* ''LightNovel/ChivalryOfAFailedKnight'' plays with this. At the beginning, it seems like FieryRedhead Stella will play the role of the Harsh Tsundere trope straight, given her earlier interactions with Ikki (including telling him to kill himself and saying that he's not allowed to breathe the same air as her). However, it's subverted once Ikki declares his love for Stella early on the story, which marks a turn for Stella from "tsun" to "dere" around Ikki for the remainder of the work once they start dating.
* ''LightNovel/ChromeShelledRegios'' has Felli in a rare combination with TheStoic: capable of kicking dents into a refrigerator, but genuinely cares for "Fon-Fon," when he's not a target. Doesn't care much for [[BattleHarem the competition]].

* ''LightNovel/EndoAndKobayashiLiveTheLatestOnTsundereVillainessLieselotte'': Lieselotte has a kind heart, but it is well hidden behind a very harsh front. Siegwald was led to believe she disliked him and that is why he drifts away from her in the ''[[FictionalVideoGame Magikoi]]'' canon. Then Endo and Kobayashi come into the scene and explain Lieselotte's behavior to him, and Siegwald starts to understand and find it endearing, as does Fiene and everybody else.

* ''LightNovel/FullMetalPanic'':
** Kaname Chidori in Fumoffu. Her dominant 'tsun' side is mostly because Sousuke is more commonly detonating parts of the school building and traumatizing her fellow students than doing anything worth going 'dere' over. She's also ONLY 'tsun' towards Sousuke, though she will speak up against jerks/bullies (which actually gets her into trouble several times in ''Anime/FullMetalPanicFumoffu''). To everyone else, she's pretty balanced. Her backstory suggests this is due to her American upbringing which made her too outspoken and aggressive to fit into Japanese culture.
** In the novels, Nami is tsun-tsun with everyone else, but pure dere-dere when with Sousuke. Originally shown as exceedingly rude and hot-tempered, he manages to get her to fall for him and become completely dere-dere by being extremely polite and respectful to her (something no one else had really done).

* In ''LightNovel/InvadersOfTheRokujyouma'', Theia is harsh and haughty to Koutarou from the moment they meet, although she has been becoming more open in declaring her affection for him.

* ''LightNovel/IsThisAZombie'': Practically all the [[HaremGenre main girls]], but the most stand-out are Seraphim and Sarasvati. Not only are they both [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot vampire-ninjas]], but they both have long, black hair, often wear maid outfits, and are in a love-hate relationship with [[FemaleGaze Ayumu's butt]]. Sarasvati has even gone so far as to open an entire cosplay cafe staffed by vampire-ninjas ([[OneGenderRace all of which are beautiful women]]), along with the occasional magical garment girl or Necromancer, with the main theme being verbal and occasional physical abuse toward the patrons, [[CasualKink which they all pay for, happily]].
* ''LightNovel/{{Jinsei}}'' has Rino, who is a prime example for Tsundere.

* ''LightNovel/KazeNoStigma'' has Ayano. She does not realize what she wants, she calls Kazuma a jerk, but tries to hold his hand at an amusement park, blushes all the time, and flies into a towering rage if Kazuma makes a move on her or if she sees him with another woman.

* ''LightNovel/KyoKaraMaoh'': Wolfram complains about Yuuri about as much as he's grouchily possessive of him, and despite being quasi-'dominant', looks more girly than him. In one OVA episode, another character actually uses the word tsundere to describe him. He mellows down in season three... unless, of course, Yuuri [[MistakenForCheating has done something wrong]].

* ''LightNovel/LibraryWar'': Dojo is a textbook example of a Harsh Tsundere, utilizing mostly tactics 2 and 3. He's gruff and businesslike towards everyone, but he takes it to an extreme when he's around Kasahara. At the beginning of the series she complains that he works her hardest during training. He protects her because he secretly does care, but then he brushes it off as just part of his job and often shouts at her. Their flirting begins as awkward shouting matches and snide comments, but towards the end of the series Dojo makes some sweet gestures that he then ruins [[spoiler:like trying to comfort Kasahara by patting her on the head, and then getting angry because he can't reach and demanding to know why she is wearing high heels. Total mood killer]].

* ''Literature/OnlyTheRingFingerKnows'': Yuichi Kazuki is kind, polite, and friendly to everyone he meets... except to Wataru Fujii, the guy he likes, because he doesn't know how to deal with his feelings for another male. His uncharacteristically cold and snarky (The Cold Shoulder tactic) behavior towards Wataru provokes the latter into employing his ''own'' type of Tsundere tactic ([[ArmorPiercingSlap The Violent Approach]]) upon him out of frustration. Yuichi grows out of this somewhat in the sequel novels following their RelationshipUpgrade, but still has occasional bouts of Tsundere-ness (and it's actually implied that his kind demeanor to everyone else was actually [[StepfordSmiler a mask he put on to please them]] and that his teasing behavior toward Wataru is reflective of his true personality, which makes him an odd mix of ''both'' Tsundere types).
* ''LightNovel/{{Oreshura}}'': Fuyuumi Ai is generally a bossy jerk, but putting her in Eita's presence is like giving her a massive overdose of LovePotion. When she finds out he's in the same summer class as her, she screams "I'm the winner!" at the top of her lungs, then [[DiggingYourselfDeeper immediately tries to deny that her out-of-character overenthusiastic response meant anything]]. She claims to have a boyfriend, but the falseness of this is given away by, among other things, the fact that she stays in Tsun mode when talking about him.

* Creator/RieKugimiya is increasingly becoming the [[PigeonholedVoiceActor go-to voice actress]] for diminutive, extremely violent, and flat-chested Harsh types, of which four such roles stand out (and are even produced by Creator/JCStaff):
** Shana of ''Literature/ShakuganNoShana'', who is frequently abrasive towards her love interest, Yuuji Sakai, but eventually defrosts to him as she learns to be more social.
*** Interestingly, Shana actually bears more resemblance to the classic {{Tsundere}} (that is, someone with a harsh personality who [[DefrostingIceQueen softens and shows a loving side over time]]) than her [[ShanaClone even more aggressive and violent expies]]. Ironically enough for the Goddess of {{Tsundere}}, by the end of Season 2 and for the entirety of Season 3, she's not even really a {{Tsundere}} anymore.
** Louise Francoise le Blanc de la Valliere of ''LightNovel/TheFamiliarOfZero'', who routinely whips and insults her love interest, Saito Hiiraga, but would occasionally show moments of adorable sweetness, which increases more as she learns to get over her insecurities.
** Nagi Sanzen'in of ''Manga/HayateTheCombatButler'', who loves to use Hayate Ayasaki as her living cosplay doll (as in the WholesomeCrossdresser variety), complete with an excuse that Hayate is her butler, only to gush in private over her assumption that he dotes on her.
** Taiga Aisaka of ''Literature/{{Toradora}}'' is a highly irritable girl, more so towards Ryuuji Takasu after a bad first impression. She also {{deconstruct|edTrope}}s this trope: [[SourOutsideSadInside her violent emotional mood swings and stature complex stem more from having a broken family than romantic issues]], making her a borderline BrokenBird.
** Together, Shana, Louise, Nagi and Taiga are known to fans as the "Four Tsundere Wonders." There's a whole slew of tsunderes in their vein: ShanaClone.
** Touko Matsudaira of ''Literature/MariaWatchesOverUs'' is a bit of PlayingAgainstType and {{Deconstruct|ed Trope}}ion: she's a teenage Harsh type whose AlphaBitch facade stems from her fear that all help she will receive [[DontYouDarePityMe may stem purely out of pity for her situation as an adopted orphan]], as well as her inability to show gratitude for her adoptive family.
** JC Staff revives Kugimiya's classic type as Aria H. Kanzaki of ''LightNovel/AriaTheScarletAmmo'', a full-blown Harsh type; she's even being considered to be titled the "Fifth Tsundere Wonder."

* ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'': Celty Sturlusen is a relatively minor example that is perfectly willing to admit her attraction to [[SingleTargetSexuality Shinra]] [[BackalleyDoctor Kishitani]]. However, sometimes she can't help but find his more annoying habits ([[TooMuchInformation like making ill-timed comments about their sex-life]]) extremely irritating and lets him know this. [[DopeSlap Physically]]. Fortunately, Shinra's [[TooKinkyToTorture something of a kinky little bugger]], so he's all for it.

* ''LightNovel/{{Kampfer}}'': Mishima Akane is Sweet in her default/original form. She transforms to an AxCrazy [[TheGunSlinger gun nut]] Harsh type.

* ''LightNovel/NoGameNoLife'': Stephanie Dola is an odd [[JustifiedTrope justified]] example. She lost a game with Sora where the winner can make the loser listen to any request. Sora told her to fall in love with him, as such her emotions were manipulated to make her fall in love with him ([[PlayedForLaughs hilariously portrayed]] with her [[BishieSparkle Steph-O-Scope]]). She fights against her twisted emotions at first, [[LoveEpiphany but eventually something genuine starts up]].

* [[TheTrickster Kanade]] in ''LightNovel/MayoChiki'' pulls a tsundere ''act'' towards the computer club, possibly as a preemptive reward for her somewhat unreasonable request. It's effective.

* ''LightNovel/MyMentalChoicesAre'': Furano usually acts cold towards Kanade, but this is due to her shyness, and she really wants to tell him how much she likes him.

* ''LightNovel/MyNextLifeAsAVillainessAllRoutesLeadToDoom'': Ginger treats Catarina with outward disdain and annoyance, but still tries to help her when she needs it (while claiming [[IWasJustPassingThrough she just wanted Catarina to stop moaning about her studies]]).

* ''LightNovel/NyarukoCrawlingWithLove'': Mahiro Yasaka is an odd example. By nature he's a very NiceGuy, it's just that his UnwantedHarem is ''constantly'' being loud, zany and disruptive, never giving him a moment's peace, which grates on his nerves quickly and leads to {{Slapstick}} violence (yes, [[SlapstickKnowsNoGender even on the girls]]). However, in the rare moments where they tone it down a notch, it's blatantly obvious that he likes them, and sees Cuuko and Hasta as surrogate siblings. As for his main LoveInterest Nyarko, in addition to the above bullet point, he's outright said that she's too [[ManicPixieDreamGirl manic]] and he doesn't know if he can believe her statements of love; the times where she turns down her "volume" (such as having a pleasant date with him, or hand-knitting him a scarf for Christmas) are the ones where you can see that despite his protests he really does have feelings for her. * ''LightNovel/TheAsteriskWar'': Julis Riessfeld is hot-headed, stubborn, and can be cold-hearted to those she is unfamiliar with. However, underneath that harsh, unfriendly facade, is a sweet girl who would do just about anything for a friend.

* In ''LightNovel/{{Bakemonogatari}}'', Hitagi Senjōgahara calls herself a Tsundere, although the male character thinks to himself that she's more like a "tundra" (ie a SugarAndIcePersonality), considering that she wouldn't know deredere if it slapped her upside the head, which makes her come across as more of an IceQueen. Additionally, it's pretty clear that she has a [[BrokenBird traumatic past]] driving her actions. Suggesting that she's more CuteAndPsycho who has designated herself a tsundere as a way to justify her rather irrational and violent behavior. She does seem to be getting better though.
** She also seems to alternate between demonstrating her affection towards Araragi in mean or discomforting ways, and being mean to him in ways that demonstrate her affection for him.

* ''LightNovel/OnlyTheRingFingerKnows'': Yuichi Kazuki is kind, polite, and friendly to everyone he meets... except to Wataru Fujii, the guy he likes, because he doesn't know how to deal with his feelings for another male. His uncharacteristically cold and snarky (The Cold Shoulder tactic) behavior towards Wataru provokes the latter into employing his ''own'' type of Tsundere tactic ([[ArmorPiercingSlap The Violent Approach]]) upon him out of frustration. Yuichi grows out of this somewhat in the sequel novels following their RelationshipUpgrade, but still has occasional bouts of Tsundere-ness (and it's actually implied that his kind demeanor to everyone else was actually [[StepfordSmiler a mask he put on to please them]] and that his teasing behavior toward Wataru is reflective of his true personality, which makes him an odd mix of ''both'' Tsundere types).

* ''LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'': Lina can be seen as a Tsundere in the anime, specially obvious in the ''NEXT'' season where [[spoiler: she blushes and stammers when Gourry calls her out and mentions his BodyguardCrush on her]] and later when [[spoiler: she has a brief but ''very'' intense breakdown after he's kidnapped by Phibrizzo]].
* ''LightNovel/SoICantPlayH'': Initially, [[FieryRedhead Lisara]] is dismissive towards Ryosuke's attempts to hit on her, because all he really cared about was [[LustObject her body.]] So she usually berates him, sometimes violently, when he annoys her. But as his feelings gradually change to genuine affection, it causes her opinion of him to change as well, though she stubbornly refuses to admit it. The first clear indication is seen in episode 4:

* ''LightNovel/TrinityBlood'''s Astharoshe "Asta" Asran. Her relationship with Abel Nightroad, though not romantic (at least, [[{{Shipping}} not in canon]]), has strong elements of this. At first she violently threatens him (and does so again each time they meet), but comes to see him as one of her closest comrades. And that word [[TrueCompanions is extremely meaningful to Asta]].

* ''LightNovel/VenusToMamoru'': Ayako displays the most explosive temper towards just about anyone who pisses her off, but is absolutely dere-dere towards her beloved Mamoru. Though her confession of her feelings towards Mamoru at the very start of the series was rather tsun-tsunish in approach (and it was perhaps the only time he was intimidated by her).

** Shana of ''LightNovel/ShakuganNoShana'', who is frequently abrasive towards her love interest, Yuuji Sakai, but eventually defrosts to him as she learns to be more social.

** Taiga Aisaka of ''LightNovel/{{Toradora}}'' is a highly irritable girl, more so towards Ryuuji Takasu after a bad first impression. She also {{deconstruct|edTrope}}s this trope: [[SourOutsideSadInside her violent emotional mood swings and stature complex stem more from having a broken family than romantic issues]], making her a borderline BrokenBird.

** Touko Matsudaira of ''LightNovel/MariaWatchesOverUs'' is a bit of PlayingAgainstType and {{Deconstruct|ed Trope}}ion: she's a teenage Harsh type whose AlphaBitch facade stems from her fear that all help she will receive [[DontYouDarePityMe may stem purely out of pity for her situation as an adopted orphan]], as well as her inability to show gratitude for her adoptive family.

* Mai Sakurajima in ''LightNovel/RascalDoesNotDreamOfBunnyGirlSenpai''. Very caring, flirty and teasing towards Sakuta, normally calm and really kind, but also emotionally sensitive and can be prone to mood-swings.

* In ''LightNovel/DateALive'', [[ShanaClone Kotori Itsuka]] is Harsh as the Commander (Black Ribbons) [[SplitPersonality and]] Sweet as Shido's cute little sister (White Ribbons). She has more of an extreme role segregation rather than a true SplitPersonality , so it's interesting that her way of dealing with Shido changes also.

* ''LightNovel/InvadersOfTheRokujyouma'': Clan starts becoming more haughty towards Koutarou once Theia grows out of it.

* ''LightNovel/RebuildWorld'': Akira for Sheryl, tragic past type mentioned in Analysis. What do you get when you mix UnscrupulousHero and tsundere? Well, when Akira first talks to Sheryl, he threatens her in a rage. And then he takes her home, lets her clean up in his bathroom, and then hands her his meal when he sees she’s hungry. And then he tells her that her body is completely useless to him even for use a disposable pawn after she offers herself to him. And then he helps her anyway. While the death threats and treating her almost like a slave continues for a while, things mellow out, Akira easily gives in to her requests to let her cuddle him, and he has moments of shock where he almost seems like a HeroWorshipper over Sheryl's GuileHero talents for things like setting up a {{Snacksploitation}} scheme, [[GamerChick beating a game he struggled with]], or securing information about Drankam. And then he goes back to his distant and cold normal behavior.

* An interesting Tsundere mix occurs in ''LightNovel/{{Sukisho}}'', where Sunao is Harsh, but [[SplitPersonality split personality]] Ran is Sweet.

* ''LightNovel/HaremInTheLabyrinthOfAnotherWorld'': Sherry. While she does love Michio, and her fellow haremettes, she hides it very, very deeply. Her "dere" side only comes out when she's drunk, and that is in no way easy.
* ''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya'':
** The titular character starts as a {{Jerkass}}. Although she has had some character development, the degree to which she's moved from {{Jerkass}} to JerkWithAHeartOfGold, are [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation up for debate]]. Not yet seen in the anime, but by the fourth book, she's spouting some classic tsundere lines. Although maybe this is just a case of her GenreSavvy nature causing her to deliberately act this way.
*** Haruhi is probably the poster child for tactic 4 (bossy), although 2 and 3 come up sometimes. She's fairly non-violent by the standards of this trope however (mostly because the series doesn't use [[SlapStick comic violence]]). Most, she just drags people around.
*** Haruhi is also a [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstruction]]: What would happen if a Tsundere acted that way toward ''everyone'' they knew, rather than just love interests? It's slightly more [[ShipTease pronounced]] toward Kyon (she doesn't make excuses as much with the others), but not by much.
** [[DeadpanSnarker Kyon]] has some tsundere tendencies towards Haruhi. Tsundere tactics 1 and 3 come into play often, and on at least one occasion he has almost resorted to violence.
*** For both of them, the inverse (dere) side rarely comes out and for both, it's restricted to their actions. [[spoiler: Haruhi stayed by Kyon for 3 days while he was in a coma and helps him with his schoolwork. Kyon chose to undo the ''Disappearance'' verse and tried to save her in the ''Surprise'' finale]].

* ''Manga/NanaToKaoru'': Kaoru is a sterling example of a male tsundere -- on the surface, anyway. His reason for giving his childhood friend Nana the cold shoulder isn't because he can't bring himself to admit an attraction to her, but that she ''must not discover'' that he's in love with her, because A) she's destined for greatness and he feels that a loser like him would just slow her down B) it would probably end their "[[BoundAndGagged breathers]]" if he couldn't be a good dom. Yet he keeps slipping up and acting chivalrously, going the extra mile for her, complimenting her and so on -- it's hilarious and adorable. Nana has her tsuntsun moments as well, through she is more Sweet.

* An early example would be Kasha Imhof (towards Cosmo Yuki) from ''Anime/SpaceRunawayIdeon'', though she is definitely more on the tsun-tsun side throughout the series. The closest she comes to dere-dere is during the Kitty Kitten arc, [[spoiler:but she finally acknowledges her feelings for Cosmo half-way through the ''Be Invoked'' movie... only to ''die'' shortly afterwards. [[KillEmAll And then, everyone else dies]]]].

* Two oldschool examples are Honey from ''Manga/HoneyHoney'' and Candy from ''Manga/CandyCandy''. Both are blonde, plucky, cheerful {{Heartwarming Orphan}}s who go grumpy towards GentlemanThief Phoenix and TroubledButCute Terry, respectively. Though Candy is ''pure'' deredere towards her other possible love interests, Anthony [[spoiler: (who dies in an accident)]] and Albert [[spoiler: (Anthony's uncle, who '''''may''''' be more likely to get to her, since Terry stays with IllGirl Susanna instead.)]]

In the end, however, it's fully averted once Ikki declares his love for her early on the story, which marks the beginning of her throwing away all her tsundere traits during the course of the story (though they can show up from time to time). By the end of Vol 2 (episode 5 of the anime), she is basically full Dere Dere.
