* NamesTheSame:
** Due to the series's trademark overuse of crude humor, there are a disproportionate amount of people named "Dick" in Highland. They include guidance counselor Dick Gaylord, meteorologist Dick Jackman, Sergeant Dick "The Rooster" Leakey, as well as one of Tom Anderson's old war buddies.
** Burger World must have shared its name with the Burgerworld of the 2061 simulation from ''VideoGame/AMindForeverVoyaging'' and the restaurant where Music/WeirdAlYankovic's character briefly works in ''Film/{{UHF}}'' (of which, according to Yankovic, Judge is a fan).
** The 2022 revival episode "Virtual Stupidity" is not to be confused with the 1995 ''Beavis and Butt-Head'' video game of the same name.

** Averted as of 2022, as it was [[https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/south-park-beavis-and-butt-head-moving-to-paramount-1235094214/ announced]] that, in addition to the new episodes moving to Paramount+, the service would stream the entire library, over 200 episodes, newly remastered.

* TalkingToHimself: Judge voices both title characters and several recurring ones as well, including Tom Anderson (using the voice that would later be more closely associated with [[WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill Hank Hill]]), Van Driessen, [=McVicker=] and Buzzcut, as well as a handful of one-shot characters. Some scenes with upwards of four characters feature Judge as the ''only'' actor.

* ExiledFromContinuity: Judge is not allowed to use Daria anymore since the show was resurrected, as MTV has stated that they want to keep the character freed up so as to possibly revive her show down the line. During a music video, it is explained that she moved (though Beavis thought she committed suicide), as per the canon of ''Daria''. However, Daria does end up making a Cameo in ''WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButtheadDoTheUniverse''.

** And a third of the episodes, which Judge has refused to license to DVD.

** The original airing of "Sporting Goods opened with Beavis trying to set a grasshopper held by Butt-Head on fire. After the fire controversy, this scene was swiftly reanimated so that Beavis and Butt-Head are both holding grasshoppers. Every subsequent airing or home video release internationally, up to and including Paramount+, has used the reanimated version.

He would revisit this concept with the 2022 revival, which seems to have quietly retconned out the 2011 revival as a result.

* DescendedCreator: Judge not only voices the two main characters ''and'' multiple side characters, but he also wrote and performed the theme song.
* DoItYourselfThemeTune: As mentioned above, Judge wrote, performed and recorded the theme song himself.

** The episode ''Scratch N Win'' was originally going to end with Beavis and Butt-head crashing their riding mower, causing it to set on fire. Proof of the lost ending's existence is shown in some merchandise detailed [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAPcLpaRDZk in this video]]. It can be assumed the reason this ending was cut since the episode first aired [[TooSoon not long after the infamous fire controversy]].

** Judge wanted to bring back Daria in the 2011 revival, but had no plans to incorporate how her character had developed on her own show, even to the point of creating an entirely new family for her (ignoring Jake, Helen, and Quinn). MTV refused to allow this, citing that [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Judge had ceded all rights to the character of Daria when he agreed to her spinoff in the '90s, in exchange for them leaving Beavis and Butt-Head out of it.]]

* NoDubForYou: Unlike with the original series, the revival wasn't dubbed in any foreign country when it was broadcasted.

* EarlyBirdRelease: The episode "a idiots" was originally released without music videos on the VHS "Chicks N' Stuff" 4 months before airing on TV.

** Other episodes were banned (some of which did return from being banned with content cuts made) for instances of Beavis saying "Fire! Fire!" or flicking a lighter ("Stewart's House", "Kidnapped"), animal cruelty ("Frog Baseball", "Washing the Dog"), inhalant and drug abuse ("Home Improvement", "Way Down Mexico Way") or anything that might be [[FunnyAneurysmMoment considered poor taste in the aftermath of Columbine and September 11th]] ("Heroes", "Incognito"). Many of these have aired on Viacom-owned networks overseas unedited, and some are commercially available on [=DVD=] sets.

* CashCowFranchise: ''Beavis and Butt-Head'' were huge pop culture phenomenons back in the 1990s and even today. Comic books, video games, action figures, shirts, underwear, a [[TheMovie theatrically released]] [[WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButtHeadDoAmerica film]], a music video with Music/{{Cher}}, two appearances on ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'' (one in the mid-1990s during a "Weekend Update" segment and again on the season 27 episode hosted by Creator/JonStewart on a TV Funhouse "Fun with Real Audio" segment), ''Series/TheTonightShow'' and the goddamn UsefulNotes/{{Academy Award}}s, appearances in films such as ''Film/AustinPowers'' and ''Film/{{Airheads}}''. They were everywhere.

* RealLifeWritesThePlot: The music video segments slowly devolved from actual riffing and commentary to stream-of-consciousness ramblings due to the sheer volume of videos Judge was forced to watch and ad lib over (at least five per-recording session), causing him to run out of material extremely fast.

* WriterRevolt: "Lightning Strikes"[[note]]in which Beavis and Butt-Head wind up in the hospital after imitating a documentary about Creator/BenjaminFranklin but a visiting reporter can't understand how an educational show could be a bad influence and concludes that they must've been watching music videos instead.[[/note]] was written in a direct response to the trailer house fire incident that the creators were blamed for.

* FanNickname:
** "Buffcoat and Beaver", after a confused politician refers to them as such while railing against them publicly.
** In a behind-the-scenes documentary about ''WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill'', Judge says he came up with Boomhauer's distinctive voice after hearing a man's voicemail about how much he hated Beavis and Butt-Head, which he referred to as "Porky's Butthole".
