* ExiledFromContinuity: Judge is not allowed to use Daria anymore since the show was resurrected, as MTV has stated that they want to keep the character freed up so as to possibly revive her show down the line. During a music video, it is explained that she moved (though Beavis thought she committed suicide), as per the canon of ''Daria''. However, Daria does end up making a cameo in ''WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButtHeadDoTheUniverse''.

He also hates some of the episodes that incorporate fantastical elements into them. Because of this, a great deal of the show has not been released on DVD.

* MissingEpisode: Many. Possibly the rarest is "Comedians", since it features Beavis juggling flaming newspapers and burning down a comedy club. It aired a month before the infamous mobile home fire for which the show was blamed.
** "Comedians" was re-aired a few times in a dramatically edited version that has the fire just happen without Beavis's intervention. Far less common were the very early episodes like "Bedpans and Broomsticks" and especially the infamous "Frog Baseball".

* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Originally, Judge didn't really want to voice Beavis, since all he really had for Beavis was the laugh. Beavis wound up being one of his favorite voices to do on the show.
** If ''WesternAnimation/{{Daria}}'' had not been a ratings and critical success from episode one, Glenn Eichler has stated that [=MTV=] would have most likely have forced him to incorporate Beavis and Butt-Head into the show to boost ratings.
** Tom Anderson was originally going to have a spin-off series on FOX, but legal issues kept Judge from using the character outside of MTV and Viacom, which is why Judge recreated Tom Anderson as Hank Hill for ''King of the Hill''. Anderson was also going to be Hank's ShellShockedVeteran father, but, once again, legal issues kept Judge from using the character outside of MTV and Viacom, which is why Cotton Hill was created.
** The relaunched series was initially going to have Beavis and Butt-Head as adults. For some reason, it was decided to keep them as teenagers when it finally went into production. After Judge decided to keep them as teenagers, they were originally going to have been [[HumanPopsicle frozen for a decade, then brought back and made to see]] [[TechnologyMarchesOn how life has changed since the 1990s]]. He would sort of revisit this concept with the 2022 revival, which seems to have quietly retconned out the 2011 revival as a result.
** Judge wanted to bring back Daria in the 2011 revival, but had no plans to incorporate how her character had developed on her own show, even to the point of creating an entirely new family for her (ignoring Jake, Helen, and Quinn). MTV refused to allow this, citing that [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Judge had ceded all rights to the character of Daria when he agreed to her spinoff in the '90s, in exchange for them leaving Beavis and Butt-Head out of it.]] Daria ''did'' cameo in the PilotMovie for the 2022 revival, however.
** Creator/{{Atari}} had plans to make an Arcade Beat Em Up based on the show, which even made it to the play testing stage. However, it tested very poorly and Atari quietly cancelled it. About 10 prototypes were known to exist.
** The episode ''Scratch N Win'' was originally going to end with Beavis and Butt-head crashing their riding mower, causing it to set on fire. Proof of the lost ending's existence is shown in some merchandise detailed [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAPcLpaRDZk in this video]]. It can be assumed the reason this ending was cut since the episode first aired [[DistancedFromCurrentEvents not long after the infamous fire controversy]].
** The 2022 episode "The Special One" was originally meant to be a musical.

** Butt-Head's voice was based on a bully Judge had in elementary school who'd always just bluntly state how he was going to bully him (that same bully would also serve as the basis for [[WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill Stuart Dooley]]).

** Butt-Head's voice was based on a bully Judge had in elementary school who'd always just bluntly state how he was going to bully him (that same bully would also serve as the basis for [[WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill Stuart Dooley]]). His laugh was partly inspired by an incident at the graduation Mass at Judge's Catholic high school, when Judge heard an immature chuckle from a classmate in response to the priest saying "eat this" while handing out the Communion.
