* In all of Creator/QuentinTarantino's movies where a character smokes, they'll smoke Red Apple brand cigarettes. Being a fictional brand, it sure pops up a lot. Same is true with the [[http://www.bigkahunaburger.com/ Big Kahuna Burger]] Chain (though the latter is tempered by how one of the most famous scenes in his oeuvre is a discussion of UsefulNotes/McDonalds). He does feature real cereal brands, like "[[Advertising/MonsterCereals Fruit Brute]]" and "Kaboom". Both haven't been produced since the 70s, though Fruit Brute had a quick one-year revival in 2013 under a different recipe.
* Hilariously averted, to the point of parody, in ''Film/RepoMan''. Not only are no products placed, but every commercial product seen has an ultra-generic label, from the can of "Food" Otto eats from in his parents' house to the "Beer" he pours on the floor of the repossession office, to every labeled item on the shelves of the grocery and liquor stores. The only brand names explicitly used in the entire movie are (unavoidably) those of cars slated for repossession, and the vehicles in question look like such crap, it's more a TakeThat than a product promotion. Lampshaded when another character offers to buy Otto a drink, and the very next shot shows them purchasing a six-pack of "Drink". There are also the Christmas tree air fresheners, but those are used less as product placement and more as part of the surreal reality of the film - they're in ''every'' car in the movie, and the characters notice this.

A particularly odd case with the shoes, as he pops them up on his boss's desk at one point, and identifies them by brand name, saying that they're "vintage 2009", but Converse All Stars have remained popular and identical in design and construction since the 1920s, so it's a bit of an odd choice, as they'll surely still be available in the films TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture setting. Specifically, much of the product placement centered around Spooner focus on his preference for things from the past, rather than the widespread acceptance of robots and modern technology that everyone else has.
