* NotSoDifferent: Both Catians and Humans. {{Lampshaded}} by Kio, who is startled nobody else has noticed.

* AliensSpeakingEnglish: Averted. Catians speak their own language, but have translator collars that allow them to understand and be understood by Kio. Played somewhat more straight with the Humans of the Era, whom Kio shouldn’t be able to understand, but inexplicably does.

* AntiHero: Most of the human girls come across as this, but particular mention goes to Manami, whose downright prejudiced towards Cats and can curse up a storm even to Kio if she’s riled up enough.

* CargoCult: The Omega, a bomb that is worshipped by Antonia’s little cult. [[spoiler:Thankfully, it’s a dud.]]

* DeadMansSwitch: [[spoiler:Kio uses a thermal detonator to threaten both sides with ending the war, or he’ll remove himself from the equation.]]

* ForbiddenZone: Go on, ask why it’s called that.
* FurBikini: Human fashion at the time. Considering it’s only women left and the island is said to be very warm, it’s almost a justified trope, but the author confirms it was mostly for humor, parody, and fanservice purposes.

* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Subverted. Although anxious to rise up against their Cat oppressors, the Humans are no more malicious than they, and rarely use lethal force due to being genuinely good people. It’s years of misunderstandings, plus the hopes of surviving without the other side, that pushes them to war.

* HyperspaceArsenal: Catian tech can ‘digitize’ weaponry and tools. Aoi, also, by [[spoiler:virtue of being mutated by Catian radiation ([[ShrugOfGod maybe]]).]]
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: Eris, though she can be forgiven since she’s lived almost her entire life in a society with [[spoiler:no boys]].

* LittleNo: When they hear [[spoiler:the countdown for ‘The Omega’ start up]], Kio has one of these.
* LowCultureHighTech: By virtue of the recently discovered “lost” technology humanity is using. Catians avert this.
* MaleToFemaleUniversalAdaptor: It’s even a loose explanation on how Catians continue to breed without male Catians... [[spoiler:by kidnapping human males]].
* MarryThemAll: Well, three at least, and [[spoiler:be available for ‘breeding purposes’ for the rest on a case-by-case basis.]]

* PyrrhicVictory: [[spoiler:Kio threatens to kill himself if both sides don’t end their war, dooming whoever does ‘win’ to extinction.]]
