* LikeBrotherAndSister: With Elsie. He views her as the annoying little sister he never asked for, but he still shows to care about her in his own way. [[spoiler:At the end of the manga, they have become actual blood-related siblings thanks to a CosmicRetcon.]]

Though their relationship isn't without its ShipTease moments, their primary relationship is based on Keima acting like the aloof older brother and Elsie being like the irritating little sister he never asked for. [[spoiler:As of chapter 267, reality was retconned to make them actual siblings.]]

* SiblingYinYang: She might not be Keima's actual sister, but she has this with him. Elsie is cheerful, ditzy and friendly, Keima is serious, smart and asocial. When Yui gets way too close to him and wanting to get to know him better, Haqua ends up kicking him in the head as a result, which also inadvertently saved him as Keima was unable to think clearly due to his lack of experience with aggressive girls.

* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: When first introduced she's rather smug and arrogant, though friendly to Elsie in a condescending way. In truth, her attitude is just covering up her insecurity at having failed to catch any Runaway Spirits yet. It gnaws at her so badly that a gap even opens in her heart briefly that the Runaway Spirit uses to partially control her. Unusually, it's actually Elsie who has to break through and help her.

* OutOfFocus: Towards the end of the manga. [[spoiler: She didn't even show up in the final chapter.]]

* ReluctantFanserviceGirl: She's the most frequent victim of Keima's AccidentalPervert moments. While being seen naked in embarrassing enough, what annoys her the most is Keima not even batting an eye at her body. There's also a few scenes of her getting stripped by other character later on.

* SexyBacklessOutfit: Apparently part of her [[http://imagizer.imageshack.com/f/852/twgok13402rhs.jpg normal outfit]]. The hair just gets in the way.

* ShipTease: Oh yeah, sure, have her and Keima be partners for a week. [[SarcasmMode I'm sure she'll really be professional about it]].

* SkilledButNaive: Her biggest character flaw. She is very BookSmart and was rivaled only by Fiore at the devil magic school, but when she started working in the field, she stumbled quite a bit at first. Later, when treachery became an issue, it got worse. [[spoiler: When Keima has Fiore imprisoned as a suspected member of Vintage, Haqua feels that this sort of interrogation is wrong and ends up releasing her. Fiore immediately takes the opportunity to start causing trouble. Later, Haqua feels the need to inform the proper authorities about Vintage's criminal activity, little realizing that Vintage has come dangerously close to BECOMING the proper authorities. The best Haqua's boss can do is [[BigBadFriend not turn her in]]. And for all her trouble, Haqua ends up being sold out anyways by [[TheMole one of her own friends]]]].

* AccidentalPervert: On a few occasions he'll accidentally stumble in on girls like Haqua while they're changing, though he rarely cares. Occasionally, though, he invokes his bad luck in this regard in order to finish a capture more quickly.

* BerserkButton: Anything that questions his status as the Capturing God. Also, do not mock or harm Yokkyun in any way.

* ChasteHero: Keima does not even raise an eyebrow seeing Haqua while she's taking off her panties.

* LoveTriangle: There are two revolving around him at different points. In the first novel, he seems to do it as a sort of SelfImposedChallenge, though the two girls in question rarely get in the other's way [[spoiler:until Tooru sees him kiss Asami]]. Later and in the proper manga, there's a love triangle of Chihiro -> Keima <- Ayumi that becomes a huge snarled mess.

* ObliviousToLove: Even with Elsie, Haqua, and Diana constantly "bothering" him, he doesn't seem to notice they are head over heels in love with him. Not to mention the arc heroines who are hopelessly smitten by him. For those he does know about, he still ignores them, making it difficult to tell where this starts and stops.
** This is getting quite complex as the story develops, because he's at least [[CharacterDevelopment becoming more involved with 'the real']] and thus starting at least to react a little more to the feelings of others, including wistfulness [[spoiler:that his capture targets don't remember him]].

* ShutUpKiss: Performed on Chihiro during her capture.

* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: He normally aces all his tests.

* TerribleArtist: A RunningGag since at least the beginning of Kusunoki's arc, much to Elsie's amusement and Keima's chagrin.

* TheUnsmile: When he has to try to capture Sumire, he decides to work part time at her dad's ramen shop. When he fakes a smile, Elsie tells him that his eyes are dead but otherwise he looks good!

** Subverted on occasion. For example in FLAG 70, when he put on a cheerful and diligent persona for Sumire the ramen girl (see TheUnsmile above).

* BumblingSidekick: Keima has acknowledged that Elsie is basically completely useless as a partner.

* PlayboyBunny: During a filler chapter she gets dressed like one. The other cast members complain about how it's interrupting the story.

* SidekickExMachina: Her role in Keima's strategies is essentially acting as a magic dispenser: "Elsie, could you do X with your [[ImaginationBasedSuperpower robe]]?" "Yes, Kami-nii-sama!"

* PatientChildhoodLoveInterest: She's referred to as one, but Keima vehemently rejects the idea by listing all the actual requirements for the trope. On the other hand, she doesn't take the initiative in her relationship with Keima despite having loved him for so many years, being glad with just being his friend and is a GirlNextDoor living close to him. [[spoiler:Justified because she needed to maintain a StableTimeLoop and wait until after his time travel adventure and she already knew they wouldn't end up together]].

* AloofBigBrother: To Elsie. His treatment of her is, at worst, AnnoyingYoungerSibling level.

* ApatheticStudent: The only thing Keima ever does at class is playing dating sims in his game console and it's useless for the teachers to try and take it away from him because he'll just pull another game console out of nowhere. Yet, he somehow manages to get perfect scores in all the tests just so the teachers stop bugging him.

* BelligerentSexualTension: [[spoiler:With Chihiro. She's probably the girl that gets on his nerves the most and the one that Keima chooses at the end.]]

* BookSmart: All he ever does at school and home is playing dating sims. Even though he never bothers to study, he's so smart that he gets perfect test scores at all school subjects just so the teachers don't have any reason to demand him to stop playing games during class.

* CharacterDevelopment: In general, he has gone from a {{Jerkass}} to a JerkWithAHeartOfGold. Indeed, one way of looking at it is that he is becoming exactly what the ideal hero of the dating sim is supposed to be like: Kind deep down, brave, determined and self sacrificing. He is also become willing to put more time and effort into the captures as well as being less flustered when things actually go according to plan. Several of the arcs also have more specific development such as:

* CrazyPrepared: Keima's P.E. teacher tries confiscating his PFP before swimming. Keima then brings out another one. The teacher takes that one too. What does Keima do? He takes out 6 more all at once. Even as a kid, he had 8 portable game consoles and 100 spare batteries. They even came in useful.

* SpoiledBrat: He has 6 LCD [=TVs=], 6+ home videogame consoles, 10+ portable [=PFPs=], and a collection of gal games... in his own personal game library. And where does this all come from? Well, the "[[AllTakeAndNoGive M funds]]".

* AdoptiveNameChange: [[spoiler:After altering reality to become Keima's sister for real, her new name is Eri Katsuragi]].

* AntiAntichrist: [[spoiler: The strongest Weiss, responsible for the destruction of millions over the years, but never by choice, or by intention.]]

* BigBadFriend: [[spoiler: Calls herself the "Final Boss.", and is the ultimate weapon that Vintage and Satyr have been plotting to revive. However, ultimately this is more an invoked term than anything.]]
* BigBrotherWorship: One of the more literal versions.

* TheDitz: And cursed with enough self-awareness to realize it.

* LoveMartyr: She deeply loves her Kami-nii-sama and outright states she would prefer to die than having him killed, despite the daily abuse and complete lack of respect. As Keima matures emotionally, he starts to treat her better.
* MagicalGirlfriend: Parodied and ultimately subverted. Elsie suddenly appears in the life of the asocial gamer otaku Keima to have him help her capture evil spirits that hide inside girls' hearts, which subsequently helps him open up to others and accept reality more. However, the relationship between her and Keima always remains more akin to one between brother and sister and while they have their ShipTease moments, Elsie is never really treated as a serious love interest for Keima. [[spoiler:And thanks to Elsie retconning reality at the end of the manga, she's his blood-related little sister now.]]

* PrettyFreeloader: While she doesn't need to help out, thanks to her assumed role, she does help Mari with the house and cafe.

* ACupAngst: Oh how she's so conscious about her size...

* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe: Challenges Keima to a game and accepts his terms that the loser has to do whatever the victor wants. After losing, Haqua [[{{Tsundere}} "pleads"]] with Keima to not make her do ''anything'', but Keima keeps asking her questions about Hell instead, prompting her to lash out.

* ClingyJealousGirl: She doesn't like watching other girls make moves on Keima, such as in episode 2 of season 3, when Yui gets way too close to him and wanting to get to know him better. Haqua ends up kicking him in the head as a result, which also inadvertently saved him as Keima was unable to think clearly due to his lack of experience with aggressive girls.

* DeadpanSnarker: To Keima. Especially during her [[spoiler:tenure as Keima's partner]].

* GoGetterGirl: She strived to be the number one at the demon academy.

The capture targets generally don't pursue him post capture, so they don't really count. In any case, it's ''really'' unwanted because all he wants to do is play his games.

* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: After finding out [[spoiler: Kaori]] is working with Vintage, he decides to conquer her. When Elsie shows surprise, [[LampshadeHanging he admits]] [[WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer it's not like he knows anything else to do]].

* {{Bishonen}}: While he is usually a geek, when pursuing a target and downplaying his interest in games, the fact that he's actually quite handsome comes to light. In the first novel, [[spoiler:Yoshino Ikumi]] is surprised to see that he really is as handsome as [[spoiler:her sister]] described.

* [[GeekPhysiques Geek Physique]]: He's at the top of his class, is '''the''' [[RedBaron God of Conquest]], but his body is rather frail because he forgets to get himself in shape due to his obsession with video games. During arcs that require him to be more physically active, he is frequently shown getting exhausted.

* BlindingBangs: In her first appearance her hair was so long it covered the top half of her face with her eyes only peeking out on occasion. After that, she got a hair cut.

She also claims not to believe in ghosts, though she clearly finds the 'haunted' theater spooky.
