Trope was cut/disambiguated due to cleanup

* HeroesWantRedheads: Subverted. She seems exactly like the kind of person Curt ''should'' want, a highly competent partner who deeply understands the angst and struggle that comes with his job, but he doesn't go for it. [[spoiler: His heart already belongs to someone who fits that description, [[HoYay with jet-black hair]].]]

Renamed

* {{Expy}}: A very loose one of classic Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, being a self-proclaimed DiabolicalMastermind with a much more physically imposing {{Dragon}} (the DMA standing in for Emilio Largo), and the whole initial ExcusePlot with the bomb being highly reminiscent of Blofeld's first film appearance in ''Film/{{Thunderball}}''. Also one for Hugo Drax of ''Literature/{{Moonraker}}'', the Bond villain known for being a former Nazi (although he only had this backstory in the original book).

Per TRS, Unrequited Tragic Maiden now requires tragedy for the maiden. Examples that dont mention this are removed

* UnrequitedTragicMaiden: In the tradition of Miss Moneypenny, on whom she's based, only exaggerated because the character is also an awkward and shy nerd a la Q (unlike the canon Moneypenny who's usually implied to be fairly worldly). "Barb's Lament" is her song where she briefly fully admits her feelings for Curt go beyond that of a friend and colleague.

Playing Gertrude is now a disambig

* PlayingGertrude: The fact that Cynthia has been smoking "since 1939" (22 years before the present day of 1961) means she has to be at least ten years older than her actor Creator/LaurenLopez, who was 30 when the show came out.

* RedBaron: Played with in that its treated like his real name on occasion eg von Nazi calls him "Mr Deadliest Man" but Curt also remarks "I wonder what would earn a man that title." Justified in that a world famous criminal could hardly go by his real name, so probably [[spoiler: Owen never gave his character a real name,]]to avoid getting caught (and just because it [[AwesomeMcCoolName sounds cool]]).

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* ButtMonkey: The canon Q's frustration with how callously Bond treats his work is taken UpToEleven here, with Curt wantonly wreaking havoc in Barb's lab, Cynthia making Barb ''live in a fishing boat'' nearby during Curt's mission (because they blew the whole budget on Curt's luxurious accommodations) and Curt being so inattentive during her briefings he keeps forgetting to wear the high-tech rocket shoes she made him because [[SkewedPriorities they don't match his outfit]].

Cast in order of appearance:

!!Oleg:
!!! Actor: Creator/BrianRosenthal
* DirtyCommunists: Surprisingly enough for a Cold War spy story, he's the only named character who's a straight example of this trope in the whole play. (Tatiana turns out to be an apolitical DoubleAgent.)
* GogglesDoNothing: Is wearing safety goggles for no obvious reason in the ActionPrologue (possibly a gruesome implication he expects to be splashed with bodily fluids).
* SpareAMessenger: Is deliberately left alive by Curt and Owen so he can tell his superiors how badly the Soviets were screwed over by the US and UK in this operation.
* StarterVillain: Owen and Curt flawlessly working together to play him is our EstablishingCharacterMoment for both characters.
* TortureTechnician: Part of a duo of these threatening Agent Curt Mega in the first scene of the show -- unfortunately, one of them turns to be a disguised Owen Carvour.

* AllKnowingSingingNarrator: She's obviously a different person than Tatiana due to the American accent, and she's basically an homage to the many instances of TheChanteuse in a classic Franchise/JamesBond ActionPrologue.

!!Director Cynthia Houston:
!!! Actor: Creator/LaurenLopez
* SixtiesHair: Lauren wears a very memorable wig to portray Cynthia's 1961 bob haircut.

[[spoiler: (Notable because that film, which introduced the idea of a female head of [=MI6=], also introduces 006/Alec Trevelyan, the obvious inspiration for Owen.)]]
* HypocriticalHumor: Shows that she's shamelessly apolitical by chumming it up on the phone with both [[UsefulNotes/RichardNixon the loser]] and [[UsefulNotes/JohnFKennedy the winner]] of the recent 1960 presidential election.
* IronLady: Takes this trope UpToEleven. The video that introduces her in the [=YouTube=] recording of the show outright calls her a "Boss B***h".
* ManOfAThousandVoices: A BaitAndSwitch joke. She tells us she's a gifted vocal impressionist, and does a mean impression of JFK while on the phone with Richard Nixon to try to cheer him up after the election, only to then [[HypocriticalHumor end up on a phone call with the newly-elected JFK]], where she likewise tries to mollify him by offering to do an impression... and then tells him she can only do one of people with a [[HollywoodNewEngland Boston accent]].
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Lauren Lopez is fairly short even when in heels, but her character is BAD. ASS.
* PlayingGertrude: The fact that Cynthia has been smoking "since 1939" (22 years before the present day of 1961) means she has to be at least ten years older than her actor Creator/LaurenLopez, who was 30 when the show came out.
* SecretTest: She ''loves'' testing Agent Mega by springing deadly threats on him without warning and seeing how he reacts, without much thought for the collateral damage that might result.
* SinkOrSwimMentor: Literally a "Wear a bulletproof vest to every meeting with me or else die when I unexpectedly shoot you" mentor.
* SirSwearsALot: In a show where no one is particularly shy about dropping F-bombs, she still stands out. Her very first words (in the form of a written note) after the TimeSkip are "Don't fuck this up or I'll kill you myself".

* EmotionlessGirl: She's extremely cold when Curt first meets her, her later warming up to him is all an act,
and she's very self-aware about how self-destructive it is. "I've been poisoning myself a little bit every day since 1939."

She shares a first name with Tatiana Romanova from ''Film/FromRussiaWithLove'', although her role is much more similar to that of Anya Amasova from ''Film/TheSpyWhoLovedMe'', and her TykeBomb backstory (and her hair color) comes from ComicBook/BlackWidow. Her backstory of being [[ForcedIntoEvil blackmailed into betraying Curt]] is reminiscent of the backstory of Vesper Lynd from ''Film/CasinoRoyale''.
* EvilRedhead: Seems like one at first, but she's not so bad when you get to know her.
* FakeRussian: Played by American Creator/MaryKateWiles (which is already obvious to the audience because Wiles first appeared as [[TheChanteuse the American-accented Chanteuse]] in the ActionPrologue).
* FemmeFataleSpy: Comes off as a classic stereotype of one at first, although the "fatale" part is subverted.
* ForcedIntoEvil: Tatiana has no personal love for the Soviet regime and takes no pleasure in deception or killing, but has had no choice about her career
since ''Film/{{Goldeneye}}''. childhood. She has only contempt and hatred for Baron von Nazi and the Deadliest Man Alive, but has been forced to become a DoubleAgent for them -- at tremendous risk to her and her family's lives -- thanks to their surveillance program.

of the time this is subverted and she dresses in a female head of [=MI6=], also introduces 006/Alec Trevelyan, practical jacket and pants when she's working.
* MotherRussiaMakesYouStrong: She makes a few comments along these lines, although it turns out the way Mother Russia made her strong was [[TykeBomb through trauma and abuse]].
* MysteriousWoman: When she first shows up neither Curt nor the audience knows anything about her, other than
the obvious inspiration for Owen.)]]
* HypocriticalHumor: Shows
fact that she's shamelessly apolitical by chumming it up on the phone with both [[UsefulNotes/RichardNixon the loser]] Russian and [[UsefulNotes/JohnFKennedy the winner]] a spy.
* ResignationsNotAccepted: Her whole problem is that as one
of the recent 1960 presidential election.
* IronLady: Takes
KGB's special {{Tyke Bomb}}s, this trope UpToEleven. The video that introduces applies to her.
* TheStoic: Her ice breaking when she chooses to save Curt is a major piece of CharacterDevelopment.
* SensualSlavs: Very much played up at first, then downplayed after she and Curt decide they're BetterAsFriends.
* TykeBomb: Went through something similar to the ComicBook/BlackWidow "Red Room" program, although unlike Black Widow she seems to have maintained
her in connection to her birth family. She's apparently been trained since she was ''four'' and deployed since she was ''thirteen''.
* VodkaDrunkenski: She taunts
the [=YouTube=] recording other members of the show outright calls her a "Boss B***h".
* SirSwearsALot: In a show where no one is particularly shy
team about dropping F-bombs, she still stands out. Her very first words (in the form of a written note) after the TimeSkip are "Don't fuck this up or I'll kill you myself".

[[folder:Director Cynthia Houston]]
!!! Actor: Creator/LaurenLopez
* SixtiesHair: Lauren wears a very memorable wig to portray Cynthia's 1961 bob haircut.
* CigaretteOfAnxiety: Seems to be the reason behind her chain-smoking habit, and she's very self-aware about how self-destructive it is. "I've been poisoning myself a little bit every day since 1939."
* ContraltoOfDanger: Creator/LaurenLopez is a soprano, and Cynthia's singing voice is very much in this range, but her speaking voice is noticeably much deeper than Lauren's other characters (partly because of [[SmokyVoice her smoking]]).
* {{Expy}}: Of the female version of M played by Creator/JudiDench, who's appeared in all the Franchise/JamesBond films since ''Film/{{Goldeneye}}''.

[[folder:Mama Mega]]
!!! Actor: Creator/LaurenLopez
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Curt predictably finds her to be this; heroic secret agent or no heroic secret agent, she's unhesitant about sharing embarrassing stories from his childhood.
* HiddenDepths: Her hobby of puttering around with arts and crafts apparently translates to being very skilled at forging official documents.
* SeinfeldianConversation: In her old age she apparently finds it impossible to keep in mind that the future of the free world is at stake and has a higher priority than her issues with her broken fridge or her hopes that Curt will give her grandchildren.
* ShipperOnDeck: Is extremely enthusiastic about the idea of Curt and Tatiana getting married, despite their protests.

* DecompositeCharacter: With Barb, of Miss Moneypenny. Barb is a CompositeCharacter of Q and Moneypenny who obviously has taken Moneypenny's traits of being a cute blonde girl with a hopeless crush on the protagonist; the joke is that therefore Cynthia's secretary ends up being another GenericGuy played by Esther Fallick.
* EatTheEvidence: Eats the note that Curt says to give to Cynthia, and also Curt's clearance badge at the end.
* ExtremeDoormat: Ends up ''taking a grenade'' for Curt and ambiguously dying of it (for no good reason, as one of Cynthia's abusive tests).
* GenderBlenderName: His name is Susan, but he's a man. (This could be chalked up to it being a last name.)
* SecretTest: Cynthia calls to her secretary Susan for a cup of coffee, only for a man to suddenly burst into her office and attack her -- only for her to reveal this was a test to see if Curt would intervene and, when he doesn't, has her address the man as "Susan" and dismiss him in disgust.

* AristocratsAreEvil: And a more evil one than usual, since his noble family is apparently the "von Nazi" family.

Man Alive:Alive executes him the instant he gets the land deed from the Prussian Sloviskians.]]
* CampStraight: A fan of flamboyant dance numbers, Von Nazi is nevertheless ambiguously straight. [[spoiler: An interesting juxtaposition to the StraightGay Curt and Owen]].
* ConsultingMisterPuppet: Talks to a hand puppet of his uncle Adolf Hitler whenever he needs to reassure himself and stroke his own ego.
* DamnedByFaintPraise: Part of the joke with his character is he never really makes much of an attempt to defend the Nazis' genocidal racism in and of itself, instead just deflecting to the generally-agreed-upon good things that happened under Nazi rule (the Autobahn, Volkswagen cars, Fanta soda) to argue "Nazis Are Not So Bad".
** He is ''also'', of course, an obvious {{Expy}} of Creator/WillFerrell as Franz Liebkind performing the lead role in ''Springtime for Hitler'', in ''Film/TheProducers''.
* FourthReich: As is common in a spy thriller, there's apparently a whole faction of ThoseWackyNazis who [[TheRemnant survived World War II]] with [[WhereDoesHeGetAllThoseWonderfulToys a huge amount of intact resources]] determined to establish a new fascist regime in another country. [[spoiler: And they don't know they're just a figurehead being manipulated by TheManBehindTheMan, the Deadliest Man Alive and CHIMERA.]]
* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate: He's ''Doctor'' Baron von Nazi, to you.
* NoNameGiven: Presumably "Doctor" and "Baron" are both titles, meaning his actual first name remains unknown throughout the show.
* NWordPrivileges: Many commenters have pointed out a huge factor in TCB getting away with this character is it's very well-known Brian Rosenthal, who plays him, is Jewish, as is director Corey Lubowich.
* SissyVillain: He keeps glitter up his sleeve and does self indulgent musical numbers complete with back up dancer henchpeople. The homophobic elements of this trope are interestingly played with in that while the "manly" hero squares off against the sissy villain, [[spoiler: Curt]] is textually gay, and Von Nazi is ambiguously straight.
* SpinOffspring: Hitler famously didn't have any biological kids (at least, none that he acknowledged), so having a nephew take up his mantle is the next best thing. (Slightly TruthInTelevision, since Hitler had two nephews by his half-brother Alois Jr. in RealLife -- one of whom, William, famously defected to the Allies while the other, Heinz, was a loyal Nazi who died in the Eastern Front in the war.)
* ThoseWackyNazis: This trope taken UpToEleven.
* VillainousUnderdog: Incredibly, he seems to see Germany as the real victim of World War II and the USSR and USA as the aggressors and oppressors, and just blithely refuses to acknowledge why no one agrees with his slogan "The Nazis are not so bad".

* StepfordSmiler: Seems to be marginally more aware than his countrymen about how humiliating it is to be ruled by Prince Feurgin and to be gritting his teeth and smiling through the pain of this knowledge.

!!Vladimir Poopin:
!!! Actor: Creator/BrianRosenthal
* EvilCounterpart: We don't get much evidence about how evil he is but he's obviously just the {{Dirty Communist|s}} version of Cynthia.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: His name, demeanor and position as a high-ranking Soviet intelligence officer are all, of course, a reference to UsefulNotes/VladimirPutin, although the real Putin was only nine years old at the time this story takes place.
* ToiletHumor: His name, of course, is an intentionally IncrediblyLamePun.

!! Prince Feurgin:

to:

* AdolfHitlarious: The real Hitler is, of course, long dead at this point, but lives on in DirtyCommunists: Surprisingly enough for a Cold War spy story, he's the Baron's memory and as his hand puppet.
* AristocratsAreEvil: And a more evil one than usual, since his noble family is apparently the "von Nazi" family.
* BigBadWannabe: It's painfully obvious from the first time we meet him that this guy is more of a clown than a threat, but we don't learn the details until [[spoiler: his henchman the Deadliest Man Alive executes him the instant he gets the land deed from the Prussian Sloviskians.]]
* DamnedByFaintPraise: Part of the joke with his
only named character is he never really makes much of an attempt to defend the Nazis' genocidal racism in and of itself, instead just deflecting to the generally-agreed-upon good things that happened under Nazi rule (the Autobahn, Volkswagen cars, Fanta soda) to argue "Nazis Are Not So Bad".
* {{Expy}}: A very loose one of classic Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, being
who's a self-proclaimed DiabolicalMastermind with a much more physically imposing {{Dragon}} (the DMA standing in for Emilio Largo), and the whole initial ExcusePlot with the bomb being highly reminiscent of Blofeld's first film appearance in ''Film/{{Thunderball}}''. Also one for Hugo Drax of ''Literature/{{Moonraker}}'', the Bond villain known for being a former Nazi (although he only had this backstory in the original book).
The homophobic elements
straight example of this trope are interestingly played with in that while the "manly" hero squares off against the sissy villain, [[spoiler: Curt]] is textually gay, and Von Nazi is ambiguously straight.
* SpinOffspring: Hitler famously didn't have any biological kids (at least, none that he acknowledged), so having a nephew take up his mantle is the next best thing. (Slightly TruthInTelevision, since Hitler had two nephews by his half-brother Alois Jr. in RealLife -- one of whom, William, famously defected to the Allies while the other, Heinz, was a loyal Nazi who died
in the Eastern Front in the war.whole play. (Tatiana turns out to be an apolitical DoubleAgent.)
* ThoseWackyNazis: This trope taken UpToEleven.
* VillainousUnderdog: Incredibly, he seems to see Germany as
GogglesDoNothing: Is wearing safety goggles for no obvious reason in the real victim of World War II and the USSR and USA as the aggressors and oppressors, and just blithely refuses to acknowledge why no one agrees with his slogan "The Nazis are not so bad".

* SixtiesHair: Has
ActionPrologue (possibly a very distinctive Beatles-style bowl cut.
* StepfordSmiler: Seems
gruesome implication he expects to be marginally more aware than splashed with bodily fluids).
* SpareAMessenger: Is deliberately left alive by Curt and Owen so he can tell
his countrymen about superiors how humiliating it badly the Soviets were screwed over by the US and UK in this operation.
* StarterVillain: Owen and Curt flawlessly working together to play him
is our EstablishingCharacterMoment for both characters.
* TortureTechnician: Part of a duo of these threatening Agent Curt Mega in the first scene of the show -- unfortunately, one of them turns
to be ruled by Prince Feurgin and to be gritting his teeth and smiling through the pain of this knowledge.
