* YankTheDogsChain: After the Ursa Minor incident, she had become a joke and was laughed and jeered offstage everywhere she tried to perform. Then Discord appeared to her in the form of a talking magic wand and gave her a scroll with magic spells that he promised her everypony would be dazzled by. She performed them beautifully on stage in front of a massive crowd...only for them to be completely indifferent to it, calling it boring and nothing amazing, and ''then'' Discord gave her a BreakingSpeech telling her to just give up on being a magician because she would never be special.

She performed them beautifully on stage in front of a massive crowd...only for them to not react at all, calling it boring and nothing special. Then Discord gave her a BreakingSpeech telling her that she would never be special and to just give up on her special talent.

* DespairEventHorizon: Discord gave her a BreakingSpeech convincing her that her talent of stage magic was worthless and that she would never be anything special no matter how hard she tried, and made her perceive that nopony anywhere even noticed that she existed, à la ''Fanfic/BackgroundPony''. She broke so hard that even after Discord was defeated and everypony else was restored to sanity, she stayed Discorded and grey. Twilight has to go directly into her mind in order to heal her.

* DespairEventHorizon: Discord gave her a BreakingSpeech convincing her that her talent of stage magic was worthless and that she would never be special no matter how hard she tried, and made her perceive that nopony anywhere could even notice her existence. * DidntThinkThisThrough: She tries to make Fluttershy understand the inherent cruelty of nature by showing her multiple examples of wild animals killing each other to survive, then gives her a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech detailing why her kindness is not natural, as she helps the weak and injured to survive when nature would otherwise leave them to die. [[spoiler:This backfires in the worst way possible when Fluttershy does not passively decide to accept this lesson, but instead decides that if nature is not fair, she will make it fair. By becoming a Nightmare and altering reality to make a utopia where no one has to suffer, because she will take all their suffering into herself.]]

* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: Well, for one, Fanfic/{{Cupcakes}} and several other GrimDark stories were her ''dreams'' if that's any indication. Yes, ''dreams'', not nightmares, ''dreams'' (though she doesn't really want them to happen or think they would, she just seems to genuinely enjoy stories like that). In the audio adaptation, her "world", apparently inside their head, is depicted as something you'd expect to find in a dungeon. She falls asleep hugging a ''sword'' (sheathed of course) like it's a doll!

* BerserkButton: Mentioning [[Fanfic/{{Cupcakes}} a certain fanfic]] tends to be this for her. [[spoiler:She overcomes it during the events of the Wedding Arc when, thanks to the brainwashed Twilight, the Changelings start using it against her.]]

** Taken UpToEleven when [[spoiler:she realized somepony was trying to get rid of her during the Wedding Arc and assumed a disguise named Cobweb so she could hide while still helping the others until she finally revealed herself to save Twilight.]]

* {{Asexuality}}: According to WordOfGod, she's asexual [[spoiler:just like Dark World Nightmare Mirror.]] Notably, her AlternateSelf Orangejack having married and having children doesn't contradict this, as someone who's asexual can still have a romantic attraction to someone.

* RealWomenDontWearDresses: Subverted. She's a CuteBruiser who reads self-defense books and is anything but a girly girl, but her hobby is modeling dresses for Rarity.

* NotSoDifferent: Discovers she and Rarity are both martial artists, something she hadn't realized until the Changeling invasion. They're also both willing to kill if they have too.

* NotSoDifferent: Fluttershy realizes that in someways she and [[spoiler:Chrysalis]] are alike in terms of how both [[spoiler:in their insanity]] were so focused on one side of nature that they rejected the other side.

* NotSoDifferent: Turns out she and Twilight have a lot more in common than one would expect. [[spoiler:She even had a major accident with a Want It, Need It Spell when in magic school, casting it on ''herself''.]]

* MixedAncestry: Her mother is a unicorn while her father is an earth pony, something she was bullied for by other unicorns as a filly.

* AmbiguouslyHuman: While the body she [[SharingABody shares with Fluttershy]] is pure pony, it's unclear whether Fluttercruel herself is this or a [[MixedAncestry Pony/Draconequus Hybrid]]. While she earned a Cutie Mark and looks like a Pony for the most part, she has slightly HellishPupils and CuteLittleFangs. Her Dark World self also implies she's technically a [[DivineParentage Demi Draconequus]] and possibly inherited some traits from her father. [[spoiler:After Rumors, she's basically become a full hybrid.]]

[[spoiler:After the Rumors are destroyed, she gains the ability to project herself as a half pony/half Draconequus baby. Discord eventually reveals that the only way he could have created her is accidentally from a piece of his own being (as Draconequi are only able to make existing things into other things, not actually ''create'' anything), meaning she was indeed created from both of them.]]
