* {{Irony}}: Joel designed Garfield to be the laziest member of the house. He ended up being the most hardworking one out of the three.

* TheEeyore: Almost constantly tired and downtrodden, particularly in earlier episodes.

* LonersAreFreaks: PlayedForLaughs, but due to his loner attitude, he apperently thinks a 'movie night' means 'going to an empty lot to dance with no music with other people'.

* OnlyFriend: Funky is the only Sim that gets along with him. Unless you also count his roommates.

* TookALevelInJerkass: He gets significantly more murderous in Season 2, which is exemplified in Part 1: First, he kills a random guy (that admittedly was beating the crap out of one of his housemates) in a totally overkill way, and then burns a random nerd to death [[DisproportionateRetribution for daring to ask him if he wanted to talk about nerdy things]].

JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He has the Mean trait, but hasn't really done anything mean to other sims, and could be considered one of the nicer sims. The closest thing Chat ever did that could be considered mean would be when he exposed Johnny as a serial killer at Geekcon. Then again, that was kinda deserved.

* TheyDo: He and Jill have a convoluted, but otherwise successful wedding in the Season 1 Finale.

* OffModel: [[StylisticSuck Deliberately so.]]. His outfit makes it look like he has no neck and his hands are huge.

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: Is as happy to kick women in the crotch as men.

* TheBully: In an ironic twist during part 21 Johnny randomly shows up to the Bogan house and essentially intimidates them into treating him nicely, Garfield even cooks him dinner.

* TheDogBitesBack: At the beginning of season 2, when Bulk Bogan comes over to his house in an attempt to harass and bully him again, Johnny absolutely defies his normal fate, zeroes in on Bogan ''immediately'' and promptly beats the absolute crap out of him. Bogan has no choice but to retreat, bruised and confused.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: His sudden attack of Bulk Bogan in Part 13 drives home the point that he is no longer the hapless punching bag he was back in Season 1.

* AngstWhatAngst: When locked in the basement of the Kong house in Part 12 he seemed to take it in his stride and was even seen ''fortnite dancing''.
** He also seems pretty unfazed by Bonzi coming back as a ghost in season 2.
** Even his own ''death'' doesn't rattle him much, and seems pretty fine about being a ghost during the brief time he is one. Funky is one ''chill'' dude apparently.

* AmbiguousDisorder: In part 6 Twitch was diagnosed with either an anxiety or panic disorder. He frequently takes the medication Xanax to help though the pills often leave him feeling dazed.

* WeaponOfChoice: A grilled cheese sandwich, which he uses to choke people to death. Despite how silly it sounds, it's been demonstrated to be VERY effective, even overpowering and killing [[EmpoweredBadassNormal Doomguy]]!

* GunNut: He always holds a gun and a [[KnifeNut knife]] in the same hand.

* IllGirl: Spends the first half of part 9 dying of a terminal disease before being cured.

* NiceHat: He dons a pretty sweet gangster-styled hat when he goes to his night job as a criminal.

* PyrrhicVillainy: In Part 13, he succeeds in ruining Harvestfest for the entire household and a few strangers by pouring stomach meds in the turkey. However, not only does he eat it himself (with all the consequences that follow), he's then beaten up by a stranger and kidnapped.

* UncannyValley: Much like the rest of the Vinesauce household. In Vinny's case, his head looks slightly too large.

* UncannyValley: Much like Jim Carrey, Rev is ''constantly'' grinning.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: Rev's sim is sporting a ridiculous flat-top style hairdo and [[UncannyValley his face is permanently stuck with a horrific grin.]]

* UncannyValley: Like all members of the Vinesauce household, Joel has had his own face modded into the game as textures. The results? More than a little off.

[[VideoGame/{{SonicTheHedgehog}} Sonic the Hedgehog ]] er... well man-hog is probably a more appropriate description for his sims self.

* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Has had his hands complimented by Kira in Part 7 and his ass complimented by Eggman Robotnik in Part 15.

** Eggman Robotnik complimented Bogan's ass in Part 15 too, and Kira also displayed an interest in Bogan's hands in Part 7.

* OnlySaneMan: Weirdly enough, Bogan [[Cloudcuckoolander of all people]] acts like this on occasion whenever Garfield isn't acting like it. An example of this happens in Part 7. When they discover the Liquid Bogan household, Bogan is the only one who takes the situation seriously, while Garfield Fortninte Dances and Dio does an evil laugh.

* DreamingOfThingsToCome: In part 14 he has a nightmare where Anakin burns down the Meme house causing Dio to die, Joel beleives this is a premonition. Sure enough Anakin shows up again in part 15 but Dio is prepared this time and kills him immediately... [[YouCantFightFate only to die at the hands of a different serial killer!]]

* MindControl: Dio can compel other sims to work thanks to his vampire abilities. When he's at home, his favorite target is ghost Liquid Bogan.

* PetTheDog: Surprisingly enough, despite hating Bogan, possibly due to Bogan abusing him in part 1, he goes out of his way to plead to the Grim Reaper to bring him back to life after Madeline kills him. And when that doesn't work, he goes to Kira to ask him to wind back time. When he does, Dio proceeds to kill Wario, who cheered and laughed at Bogan's corpse, and beats Madeline to a pulp, though he leaves doing the killing blow to Bogan.

* OnlyFriend: Funky is the only Sim that gets along with him.

* HatedByAll: It's pretty much a rite of passage at this point for newly added characters to pay a visit to Johnny and harass him. Not only that, but Dio seems to actively be trying to invoke this in-universe, what with all the books he writes insulting Johnny. Even random sims are beginning to have it out for Johnny post-breakdown, to the extent of a sim almost fatally stabbing him at Geekcon. Although, considering what Johnny has become as of Season 2, it's not hard to blame them.

* {{Irony}}: As one Twitch commenter put it, it's incredibly ironic that Johnny's ambition is to become a stand-up comedian, as while his career choice seems to be relatively unsuccessful and has even gotten him disowned, his constant suffering and abuse at the hands of his neighbors ironically fulfills his life's ambition of making people laugh, except Joel and the viewers are laughing ''at'' him and his suffering. In the words of the Twitch commenter: "He ''is'' the punchline." As of Part 12, he has fully embraced his status as a tragic clown to be laughed at in the form of Dark Johnny.

* IAteWhat: Joel speculates that Bob didn't know that the mysterious meat that he eats is actually the remains of Big Smoke.

* HoaxHogan: From his name to his appearance, he was conceived as a bootleg of the famous wrestler all the way back in VideoGame/HardTime, but he quickly struck out as his own character and the name and any association is nothing but leftover residue from the consequences of his birth.

* SubbingForSanta: The Christmas Special OVA is about Bulk going around gifting things to most major character in town. His gifts include: cigarettes, cigars, Jolly Ranchers, Sprite bottles, and the occasional trash fruit.

** Happens again in Part 22, when he summons The World to help in the final battle against Liquid Bogan, Liquid Garfield and a Bonzi-posessed Funky Kong, and deals the final blow, destroying Bonzi for good. Granted, Kira has to yell at him to do something first, but still. Earlier on he also destroyed Liquid Garfield's Metal Gear by throwing a giant selfie of himself at it

* BadassMustache: He has the closest approximation of the real Freddie's mustache that the game will allow, and rocking annoying ghosts to hell is certainly a badass feat.

* {{Fratbro}}: Subverted. He doesn't act like a stereotypical 'bro' and isn't very social to anyone who isn't a roommate or close friend, but he's fond of taking drugs.

* VitriolicBestBuds: He seems to have this type of relationship with Dio. Most exemplified in the Christmas Special OVA in which both him and Dio take a selfie, but crop out the other one out of spite or narcissism.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: More likely than not, he's either half-naked or completely naked. Very rarely is he actually shown wearing shirts. It helps accentuate the mooskles. The only time he ever has a shirt on is either when he's sleeping in his hot-dog suit, or when he goes to work.

BreakoutCharacter: Originally considered to be killed off early on. His constant misfortune became increasingly popular with the fans and Joel himself to the point that he eventually became a main character.

* AdaptationalCurves: She has a bit more meat on her bones than her original counterpart, being a residue of when she was Diamond Mooney.

* FictionalHoliday: Has one dedicated to himself, Dio Day! On this day you're supposed to smoke weed, play games, and light large fires in the memory of Jonathan Joestar, but most importantly you must give praise to Dio and bring him gifts. [[ZeroPercentApprovalRating Amusingly, no one really gives a damn about this holiday, not even Dio himself.]]
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: It's hard to find a person in this universe that actually ''likes'' Dio. At most, his roommates tolerate him, and even that is a stretch. The only person he seems to really hit it off with is his clone and Funky, who's nice to everyone. In Part 14, even ''Funky'' got sick of him, making Dio the only person who Funky has ever snapped at.

* {{Narcissist}}: He put up a giant photo of himself in front of the house. And then there's the fact that he gets along well with his clone.
** Takes this UpToEleven in Part 17, when he formally abolishes New Year's Eve and replaces it with a national holiday dedicated to, and named after, himself.

* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: The only two people who have met Dio and liked him are Funky Kong, who's [[NiceGuy nice to everyone]], and [[{{Narcissist}} his own clone]], though as of Part 14, even ''[[NiceGuy Funky]]'' is sick of him.
** This is best shown in Part 17 when, during his Dio Day party, a burglar attempts to steal from the Bogan household but is promptly shot dead by a ghost. Instead of being concerned about this, ''everyone'' at the party is too busy complaining about how much of a dickhead Dio is.
** An even better example happens in Part 21 when, after Dio is burnt to death but spared by the Grim Reaper thanks to Garfield' pleas, everyone there can only think ''"Oh fuck, he's back." [[UpToEleven Even Garfield himself, who pleaded to save Dio in the first place.]]''

* YourDaysAreNumbered: After his death in Season 1, his ghost has been steadily getting weaker and weaker. In Part 17, an in-game notification shows that Bonzi has not long in the mortal plane before the connection is severed.
** Unless a ritual is done to strengthen the connection, which Joel refuses to let any of the characters do. Makes sense In-Universe, as nobody [[ZeroPercentApprovalRating would ever want to do it]], not even his former roommate Funky.

* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Considering [[GroinAttack who he is and what he does]], this is kind of a given.

* GunNut: He always holds a gun and a [[KnifeNut knife]] in [[UpToEleven the same hand]].

* HouseFire: Bogan sets his house alight in Part 23. ''[[UpToEleven Twice]]''. ''[[CrossesTheLineTwice As a Christmas Present.]]''

** Taken UpToEleven in Part 17 as, when invited out to a bar by Twitch Chat, Johnny ''immediately'' starts beating the ever loving crap out of everyone in the vicinity, seemingly for no other reason than he simply can.
