Sometimes, the example section of a page gets bloated. The reasons why vary, but we typically deal with it in one of these ways:

* Prune the examples: Editors review the example list looking for ones that are poorly written (or [[SquarePegRoundTrope off-topic]]) which can be removed from the page, leaving behind the good examples.
* Kill it with fire: Delete the entire article as having poor focus. If it's determined that we don't want the page to ever come back in any form either, it joins the Administrivia/PermanentRedLinkClub.
* [[DivideAndConquer Create a set of subpages for it]]: Useful if the page is sufficiently popular, and also sufficiently objective, that deletion is undesirable. (The results may possibly be put under SugarWiki/SugarWiki or DarthWiki/DarthWiki if not objective, and sufficiently popular and straightforward (e.g., SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome, DarthWiki/SoBadItsHorrible).)
* Leave the trope where it is, but make the example section a separate page, sometimes on the SugarWiki/SugarWiki or DarthWiki/DarthWiki.
* [[Administrivia/RenamedTropes Rename a trope.]] Sometimes it's the title which can cause the whole mess. See Administrivia/EverythingYouWantedToKnowAboutChangingNames for more detail on that front.
* Cut and prohibit all examples from the page: The course of action for which this page is named -- what's left is a readable definition and some scar tissue saying "No examples please. !!Examples of segregated examples:

* {{Narm}} → [=DarthWiki/Narm=] Which was later moved back to Narm.

!!Examples of Administrivia/RenamedTropes:

* Boring Invincible Hero → InvincibleHero
* You Fail X Forever Pages → Artistic License - X (e.g., You Fail Biology Forever → ArtisticLicenseBiology)

!!Examples of dumping the examples list on another wiki:

* FetishFuel
* TroperTales, although that's long gone. Today, the Troper Tales are all but lost.

!!Mixed examples:

* MarySue received somewhat of a 2/4 hybrid, with the article being (almost?) completely re-written and losing all the examples. Though now it seems the new page is a stitched-up combo of the two versions a la Frankenstein's monster... We're not sure what to call it.
* YouFailLogicForever initially had a spin-off page (InsaneTrollLogic) for listing non-specific examples as the page had become rather bloated, and a release valve for non-specific examples was thought desirable (type 5). And then the original page was reorganized so that all the fallacies contained therein were spun off into their own pages (type 3), while the original spin-off had developed through a sort of reverse TropeDecay into a full trope in its own right [[note]]An argument so riddled with flaws as to enter the realm of either {{parody}} or PoesLaw[[/note]].
* Everything listed in Administrivia/NoRealLifeExamplesPlease counts as an example of a partial Example Sectionectomy; the scar tissue differs in that it contains "No real life examples, please!" rather than "No examples, please. This only defines the term.", as RealLife is the example subsection most prone to need pruning, for various subtly obvious reasons.
* NightmareFuel was originally HighOctaneNightmareFuel, with AccidentalNightmareFuel originally being Nightmare Fuel. Needless to say, the change was a little confusing for in-wiki links, but necessary due to people using the trope to describe anything they personally found scary. Even with the name changes, Nightmare Fuel pages for individual works ''still'' tended to get bloated with poor examples that just happened to coincide with a single person's fears (it's supposed to be things that are frightening to the entire general population), so the examples were tentatively removed -- this sparked a rather large backdraft. Currently, the Nightmare Fuel pages for works operate under what we're calling "Example Lobotomy" rules -- examples are allowed, but hyperbole, PurpleProse, and other forms of flowery page-bloating cruft are kept to a strict minimum.

!!Non-Wiki/TVTropes examples:

* Wikipedia's "in popular culture" sections were heavily cracked down on at one point as a reaction against "{{Fancruft}}" and rampant {{Entry Pimp}}ing, of the kind satirised in [[https://xkcd.com/446/ this]] ''Webcomic/{{xkcd}}'' cartoon. A lengthy Administrivia/EditWar about how much attention the depiction of [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madame_de_Pompadour Madame de Pompadour]] in a ''Series/DoctorWho'' episode should have received on her page may have contributed.

This is typically used on the pages of [[TropesAreNotBad tropes that actually ARE bad.]][[/note]]
* Move examples to another wiki entirely. This measure is rarely taken, but it ''has'' happened, usually for content that gets too family-unfriendly for our tastes. Examples include FetishFuel and PerverseSexualLust.

'''''STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL OF YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [=Dx=]'''''

I told you a MILLION FUCKING TIMES: This is '''TV TROPES''', NOT "TV NAMESPACES" or "WIKIPEDIA FOR SPAMMERS"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This stupid, pointless, unstoppable NAMESPACE SPAM/PLAGUE SHIT has been TAKING OVER and INVADING
the {{chainsaw|Good}}!]]

Sometimes, the example section of a page gets bloated. The reasons why vary, but we typically deal with it in one of these ways:

* Prune the examples: Editors review the example list looking for ones that are poorly written (or [[SquarePegRoundTrope off-topic]])
ENTIRE FUCKING SITE since fucking 2011, which can be removed PISSES ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm TRYING to STOP you guys from the page, leaving behind the good examples.
* Kill it with fire: Delete the entire article as having poor focus.
spamming your shitty ass namespaces ALL OVER random pages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S WHY I GOT THESE STUPID NAMESPACE EFFORT PAGES LOCKED FOR '''GOOD''' SO ALL THIS ENDLESSLY REPETITIVE SPAM SHOULD BE '''OVER''' ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(

Namespaces are SUPPOSED to be ONLY used for friggin' ADAPTATIONS, NAMESAKE ARTICLES, SUBPAGES, and SUB-WIKIS, NOT workpages or "creator" pages or "Useful Notes" pages in GENERAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it's determined that we you don't want STOP spamming the page to ever come back in any form either, it joins the Administrivia/PermanentRedLinkClub.
This only defines the term." Everything else goes in the wastebasket. [[note]]Sometimes, the Example Sectionectomy is pre-emptive, as was the case in the launching of PetPeeveTrope.

For more detailed reasons behind cutting examples, have this format:
* Page X: Reason (Additional Notes) -- also Permalocked (if it is locked)

!!Examples of
ENTIRE FUCKING WIKI with your ENDLESS NAMESPACE BULLSHIT, I'm gonna TAKE DOWN these stupid ass articles deleted entirely:

Too Contentious to List Examples (In other words: If we had these, we'd have InternetBackdraft, Edit Wars and FlameBait -- and in many cases, we speak from experience):

Too Common To List (Listing these would bloat the entire selection, even with subpages. It will also inevitably result in Administrivia/SignalToNoiseTrainwreck regardless of anything):

* AlbumFiller

Too Speculative (Similarly with the Too Common section, these tropes rely too heavily on audience situations, and listing them would [[TropeDecay result in unwieldy sections]]):

* AccidentalNightmareFuel: Was once called NightmareFuel, with NightmareFuel being "High Octane Nightmare Fuel". However, when these got their names, this had suffered massive TropeDecay, being more subjective than NightmareFuel. As of now, even examples of this in YMMV pages of works only go into NightmareFuel. -- also permalocked
* AllThereIsToKnowAboutTheCryingGame
* AwesomenessWithdrawal
* IntendedAudienceReaction
* ItWasHisSled: Being a SquarePegRoundTrope, examples of this were reduced to accidental spoilerage and examples referring to ''any twist'', regardless of popularity. -- also permalocked
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt
* SoOkayItsAverage: This may be listed under "Too Common", but it being a SquarePegRoundTrope and many examples being HypeBacklash (expected to be good but becomes average) has caused TropeDecay.

!!Examples of segregated examples:

* {{Narm}} → [=DarthWiki/Narm=] Which was later moved back to Narm.
* [[AvertedTrope Aversions]] of TheProblemWithLicensedGames were moved to SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames.

!!Examples of Administrivia/RenamedTropes:

* Boring Invincible Hero → InvincibleHero
* You Fail X Forever Pages → Artistic License - X (e.g., You Fail Biology Forever → ArtisticLicenseBiology)

!!Examples of dumping the examples list on another wiki:

* FetishFuel
