Find a Trope:
openNo Title
Joke Character is a gameplay-based trope, but do we have a trope for "character in a non-interactive medium whose entire existence is based on a joke"? Something like including a sentient Bitcoin in a murder mystery.
openProtect Mission Joke/Breathable Level (I Think)
A Mission Which You Must Protect Something Which Is A Joke (Like Protecting Tank Or Something Stronger ) Are Fall Into Breathable Level
openX Wears Anti X
What's the trope about Something (Like Fighter) Equip Anti-Something (Anti Air)
Edited by CholoLoonopenNarrator says "no, that is not me" trope?
So, is there a trope page about when the camera zooms to a character and the narrator replies "no, that is not me" then the camera comes to another character then (s)he replies "yes, that is me"
openAdaptation is more melodramatic than the source material.
Simple description:
- Source material: 2/3ths Gag Series, 1/3ths melodrama.
- Adaptation: Dramedy, or somewhere close to it.
Specific case I'm asking:
By the standards of a Schoolgirl Series manga, Asteroid in Love is quite a bit more (melo)dramatic than the norm of the genre, although it is still written within the framework of a Gag Series and still can be read as such (this is not how I read it, though).
The Animated Adaptation, however, removed quite a lot of these gags, and thus by comparison it became more melodramatic, to the point of being borderline dramedy. The adaptation's promotional material didn't even treat it as a comedy. There is no change to the work's position on the Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism.
This is currently troped on the work page under Adaptation Inspiration, although I'm not sure if it's the correct trope, and if it's correct, the writeup is too complain-y.
openLander Loaded With Loaded APC
What the trope about Transport Vech (Like Carrier) Carrying Transport Vech (Like Bus) Example:Advance Wars:Lander Can Transport Any Ground Unit Like APC Hence The title
openEasily Tricked
Is there a trope for characters who are easily fooled into doing other people's bidding for them?
openHerding Mission Videogame
Do we have a trope for the type of video game mission where you have to herd a group of creatures into a pen?
Examples:
openMistaken for Wig
Someone thinks a person's real hair is a wig. Like the final episode of Sam & Cat has Cat think a hair model is wearing a wig and tear off his very real hair.
openFictional Let's Play / footage of a fictional game Web Original
E.g. Petscop, Catastrophe Crow, Super Mario 64 Beta Archive. Like a cross between Found Footage Films and Sidelong Glance Biopic - the narrator usually isn't directly involved in events the way found footage film protagonists are; or if they are, we don't know it at first.
openPraising The Hero's Creativity
The villain lets Bob know that he's aware of the latter's meme account on Instagram, to which he admits has some funny memes.
openClaiming not to ask for a lot and then asking for a lot anyway Western Animation
i.e. A child claims to not need a lot for Christmas, and then proceeds to ask for a large number of things anyhow.
Where would that fit? Immediate Self-Contradiction? Blatant Lies? Somewhere else?
openBest school ever
A specialized training school (e.g. cooking, arts, etc.) that's famous for its high-standards and graduates from that particular school is almost guaranteed to become the cream of the crop of that field.
openCannot keep the NDA
Do we have a trope where an actor or producer, someone closely associated with a work, ends up accidentally (or purposefully) giving away spoilers for a future project? This can be as little as a "the sequel is underway" or as big as Luke, I Am Your Father. No matter what, it seems that they will inadvertently give away some secret they're supposed to be keeping followed by the rest of the cast and crew giving off a Rapid-Fire "Shut Up!".
Sometimes the audience will catch on, sometimes they'll completely miss the spoiler.
Not necessarily Did I Just Say That Out Loud?, in that the person knows they said it. Neither is it Accidental Public Confession due to the fact that the person knows the public does not know this information and they know their microphone is on.
open"She used to be so pretty!"
Do we have a trope for when someone bemoans that a girl was more pretty and pure before she started going out/got in the wrong crowd/had piercings? Vaguely related to Used to Be a Sweet Kid, but it's only one character's opinion, and focused specifically on how she looks.
openA guy's first disinterested, then is interested
Aaron: Dude, you hear of this awesome place called Candyland? It's paradise! Billy: Hmm... It sure sounds fun, but no thanks. Aaron: Come on, it'll be fun! Billy: No thanks, I gotta— Aaron: Did you know that there's a concert that's to be held there? Billy: (suddenly interested) When do we leave?!
This trope's when somebody's not interested in doing something, but after revealing a minor detail that tickles their fancy, suddenly, they're all pumped for it.
What would this be?
open...Or Was It X?
Character A warns character B about the threat they are about to face off, and then A says something like, "You shouldn't worry, X animal is more afraid of you than you are of it!!". Character B then walks in, expecting the threat to be safer than it actually is. Then A says, "...or was it Y?". Cut to B immediately screaming.
Alice trounces Bob in a contest using an unfair advantage that she would have won anyway. Bob protests that he might've won if she hadn't cheated, Alice agrees and tells him that was the point: if she hadn't cheated, the result would still be a Curb-Stomp Battle, and he'd have no excuse for losing.
