Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- • General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- • Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- • Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.
Ask the Tropers is not for:
- • Help identifying a trope. See TropeFinder.

Ask the Tropers:
resolved Spam on You Know That Show
Somebody using the name "zynga" (with no contribution history) has posted spam on the You Know That Show page.
(If it happens again, is there a better place to report it than here?)
resolved How to move reviews?
If the content of a work page is moved to a new location (for disambiguation purposes, say), any reviews stay attached to the old location. What is the current procedure for getting them moved to the new location?
In case the procedure is "Ask here", I'm looking at Clash Of The Titans. I recently split it into separate pages for the 1981 and 2010 versions, but there are four reviews that need moving to Clash of the Titans (2010).
resolved Question on specific trope on disclaimer-type apology on shows?
Been looking for a trope that has a disclaimer on the show as a form of apology. Usually it happens when a certain ethnic group or a foreign country is offended by the show's portrayal.
resolved Yet abother aviation being killed
I think the Other folder Genre-Killer should be removed, any thought?
resolved Edits to Yogscast YMMV page Web Original
Hi, user Kendall has deleted a substantial amount of content on the Yogscast's YMMV page, found here. When confronted, they said that the stuff they deleted was "not opinions".
resolved Eyeshield
Eyeshield uncomment many (but as weird as it seem, not all) ZCE from Characters.Kamen Rider Kuuga. Many of them are also using bad indentation as well (the grouping trope).
Checked my mail box, I did sent him notification of these issues although it's since last year.
Edited by Kuruniresolved Katsuhagi reverted a bunch of my edits without giving any edit reasons
I made some edits to Outdated Name, giving reasons for each. Tropers/Katsuhagi has reverted them, giving no edit reasons. If I make the edits again, does that count as edit-warring?
Normally the next step I would look at would be taking it to the discussion page, but in this case I already suggested that in one of the edit reasons Katsuhagi has chosen to ignore, so it seems they're not interested in a discussion.
resolved Request edit on Fallen Creator
Fallen Creator's video games folder. I also posted in discussion page already.
1. For whatever reason, about third of Interplay entry (FreeSpace 2's paragraph) is bolded. This is either error or bad style writing.
2. Eric Chahi's entry doesn't has "public opinion has turned against him" part. His "killer" (Heart of Darkness) actually sold well and he does return with From Dust. Another troper on discussion put more detail that he never fall at all. I think he should be removed from this Darth Wiki.
However, the page is locked. So I request mod to edit it.
Edited by Kuruniresolved Edit war report Live Action TV
In Kamen Rider.
On 20th Feb '17 5:55:07 AM, Ryulong remove fan-speak term from description with edit reason "don't use that it's stupid as shit".
On 21st Feb '17 5:40:54 AM, Wolf Thunder add it back and claim that Ryulong edit is rude.
Personally, I agree with Ryulong that the term doesn't make sense (I think Western fanbase of Kamen Rider is too small to worth noting their lingo). And while their edit reason is bad, it's direct at the term itself, not editor.
Too bad, checking history, this isn't the first time Ryulong remove it. So it is Edit War.
resolved Hero Killer
The The Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild Antagonists page says this in the entries of the game's antagonists:
- Hero Killer: It killed the <Species> Champion <Name>.
resolved Spoiler tags
On the Fallen London page, should the spoilers in the Spoiler Character folder be unmarked?
resolved Troper Cumbersome Tercel
Cumbersome Tercel replaced all backslash paragraph with improper double bullet indentation in Deader Than Disco.
I already fix it and PM them. But then I found that they got suspended on bad examples indentation once already.
Edited by Kuruniresolved YMMV for Rihanna Music
Why is the YMMV page for Rihanna is blocked from being created? She's a creator and the YMMV is created to discuss her work?
resolved Troper Lyre
The account seem to be made purely for Auto-Erotic Troping at best, and spam at worst.
To date (they start editing today), their edit are confined to three pages (no forum post found). Forum Role Plays, Play-by-Post Games (which they add link to external site with blatant advertising, without even attempt to pothole all works they cite), and Terrasphere (which they are the only contributor, many bad examples - mostly ZCE like "This can be done" or "This can happen" without explanation what is "this").
Edited by Kuruniresolved Pretty sure this is unacceptable content
I've remove it after posting this. It's from Surreal Horror.
- In a world where most of the characters see nothing wrong with breeding babies as pets or using them as sex toys, The Baby Jesus Butt Plug definitely qualifies.
The entry was added in 13th Feb '13, by Antwan, completed with link to said work. Although the link to said work is removed later (cut by P5), the entry remain. Today, Electro Kraken pothole it to creator page instead which caught my attention. So I checked and found that there were four pages linked to this (all removed). Per previous discussion, we only keep example from P5-banned work if the example doesn't violate the rule (I'm pretty sure this is) and even then we only use italic, not red link.
Nothing much else, it's just amuse me that such example remain to this day.
Edited by Kuruniresolved Is AntiVillain really being cut?
I just noticed that list of pending requests on the Cut List includes one for Anti-Villain, "Creating red links in 7567 articles. Abandoning 85052 inbound links."
The reason given is "There is no longer any reason for this page to exist.", which explains nothing.
Has there actually been a decision made to cut this page, or somebody being unilateral?
resolved Funny Moments to YMMV?
I see from the Cutlist log that James Austin is moving Funny Moments items off Funny Moments pages onto the work's YMMV page, and then having the Funny Moments pages cut.
This is entirely contrary to my understanding of how Funny Moments pages are supposed to work — I am sure I have seen a mod state here that funny moments do not belong on the YMMV page, and that number of items is not a valid reason for cutting a Funny Moments page.
resolved Is Obvious Second Choice a trivia page?
Is Obvious Second Choice a trivia page? It seems like it's talking about behind-the-scenes events, not in-universe events, but it's not marked as one.
I notice that after Mohs Scale Of Violence Hardness was recently launched, The Hestinator has been going around crosswicking it in the trope example lists of the works it mentions.
Normally I would say that crosswicking a trope after launching it is laudable behaviour, but is a Mohs Scale a trope? Should a work's trope example list include items saying "This work scores a 5 on the Mohs Scale of Whatever"?
