Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- • General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- • Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- • Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.

Ask the Tropers:
resolved What's up with the "new" profiles on some tropers' accounts?
I've noticed a few usernames I'm familiar with from other edits, and the site has the "new" tag by their names. I'm able to go back a while on their edit histories, so... I dunno what's happening here.
resolved Who counts as a SilverFox?
I am a little confused on who counts as a Silver Fox / Silver Vixen. Do they have to have grey/white hair because I've seen characters listed as this trope who are older (and attractive) but who dye their hair so they don't have grey or white hair? And also—I suspect this doesn't count but I've seen characters who fall under this category listed anyway so I figure I'll ask—do people who are not old (eg in their 30s or so) but have hair that's greyed early and are still seen as attractive count as this trope too?

resolved Notifier question
So...I'm gonna be away from home for a while due to a family event, meaning I won't be near my computer. Given something important could come up, say, someone here has a question or I'm summoned to a thread, that's very hard to do when constantly on the move or even impossible when I'm away from the phone.
Would it be ok for me to just put a notice on my troper page to give a bit of a heads up? I initially did but I got a little worried that I wasn't supposed to.
Edited by Stardust5099resolved How to get special characters in the page title?
So, i noticed that some media titles have special characters like ":" or "()" in them.
For example:
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/MasterDetectiveArchivesRainCode
And i wanted to know how do we do that when creating a page for a work, because the way we create a page here is by filling the blank space im the URL with the media name, but special characters aren't allowed in the group name and title. So how do we get them there?
Edited by CulturedScholarresolved Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek Web Original
So I made a page for Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek the other day, and then I thought of something. I was going to put the series into the FanWorks.Super Mario Bros page... only to be confused for quite a while, because the series itself is based on a mod for the game, so do I put it in ROM hacks or Web Video?
I have no idea.
Edit: I just realise that I thought about it too much, please ignore this.
Edited by Narioresolved Spanks
Spanks has added an improperly indented (lone third-bullet) example pertaining Super Mario Bros. Wonder in Bleak Level. I had sent them a lifetime total of 5 indentation notifiers (the oldest one in February 2016 and the newest one in March this year), among other notifiers like word cruft. I just don't understand why this habit still continues, by know they should know better unless they never read the Example Indentation page (or even the messages pointing them to it).
resolved Interruption by (possible) Trojan
I'm browsing a page on the site, when suddenly, the tab I'm on changes from TV Tropes to what seems to be a page for Norton Antivirus Software. A popup then appears, showing that apparently, my computer has five computer viruses, and that my Norton contract has expired. But here's the rub; I'm from England, which doesn't have Norton available (as far as I know). So, I do what I always do against potential phishing: turn the computer off and on again with my keyboard, then open Windows Security and run a quick scan (better safe than sorry), before reopening my browser (Google Chrome), restoring my tabs, and quickly closing the "Antivirus" tab before it fully restores itself.
This has happened once in two consecutive days (as of writing). So, my question is: Please can anyone confirm that a) this isn't just a "me" thing, and b) the issue is being dealt with?
resolved Edit war
On this page, deerhornsaresopretty added an entry for The Wiki Rule. After it was removed by a different troper for being a definition-only page (meaning that it's not allowed to have trope entries about it), deerhornsaresopretty added it back.
Edited by UFOYeahresolved Spammer?
This troper's only contributions to the wiki are creating a characters subpage for a trope, written entirely in Arabic. Possible spammer?
BTW, the page has been cutlisted, but I still wanted to bring it up, since it's weird that creating such a page is the troper's only contribution to the wiki. Also, the text contains links to other websites that I haven't heard before, and I don't think clicking them is a good idea.
Edited by UFOYeahresolved Peter and Company: No image discussion before replacement Webcomic
So...The author of Peter and Company, who goes by the username PeterAndCompany, just picked a new image to replace the current one without going to Image Pickin' first for any sort of discussion. I've already sent them a notifier with nothing else written on the matter.
Three questions for the community (forgot to edit this bit when I added a third, oops):
1. Does this fall under a violation of Auto-Erotic Troping?
2. Is there a cleanup thread for that sort of thing?
3. Am I allowed to remove it?
Edited by Stardust5099resolved Edit Warring
- BeescyTVT added a Recycled In Space joke line to Ireland
- LordGro deletes it with the edit reason "This is not true, not funny, and it manages to get the definition of Recycled In Space wrong."
- BeescyTVT re-adds it with the edit reason "Rack off, snowflakes, I may be of mostly Scottish descent, but I also have a wee bit of Irish too, and so I have more-than-enough N-Word Privileges for making the "not true" and "not funny" joke."
I agree with Lord Gro that it is a misuse of recycled in space, though I think that they are a bit too blunt with their edit reason. I also think that Beescy's edit reason is needlessly aggressive in response, and of course edit warring is against the rules.
resolved Non-Alien Invasion
Does the Alien invasion trope applies when the invaders aren't classified as aliens, but as creatures from a fantasy world? Or is there a trope for that type of invasion specifically?
resolved Peter and Company comic order
So...I had a question about Peter and Company. So not too long ago, I decided to include the existence of the original comic that began in 1998; I read most of it when it was available back in the day and recently started reading it elsewhere, and I made it the first tab selectable above the second one which had to do with the work of the current comic.
But now, I'm not so sure...should I reverse the order that I originally had it when I made the edit?
Edited by Stardust5099resolved Troper making spammy subpages Western Animation
Jd 100910 keeps making spammy subpages for stuff like Bubble Guppies and Peppa Pig, like
"NightmareFuel.Peppa Pig: Daddy Pig got startled by a giant fish."

Just a quick question, what does marking your video examples as "Featured" actually do?
