openBreak the Badass
When listing this trope as part of a character page, should I put it: a) In the perpetrator's list (the one who breaks the badass) b) In the recipient's list (the badass who gets broken) c) In both of them?
(ps: of course, while also explaining the context)
openDisambiguation
How to submit something for a disambiguation page or create one myself?
Boy Meets Boy and Boy Meets Boy have the exact same title and now share a trivia page, etc, and need disambiguating somehow.
openPage held hostage
Horrible.Live Action TV is one of the pages I'm currently following. Today, I checked and found that the editor Byzantine seems to be going on a editing bender. He seems to be checking out the page for every show he edits, resulting in the entire recent history of the page to be his edits. He also made a number of mistakes which seems to indicate he's not properly proofreading what he types. Another thing I noticed is that he's undoing a lot of contractions.
Am I the only one who finds this activity suspect?
openMoving Characters/DungeonsAndDragonsClasses
The current location of the characters page Characters.Dungeons And Dragons Classes is somewhat confusing and misleading- it is a character page specifically for the current (5th) edition of the game, but all other edition-specific character pages are named as such (for example, Characters.Dungeons And Dragons Classes Fourth Edition Classes); its current name gives the impression that its a character page for classes shared across multiple editions instead of just 5th.
Additionally, 5th edition isn't going to last forever so we will need to move its contents eventually when 6th edition comes out; in my opinion we might as well do it now. I would like permission to move its current contents to Characters.Dungeons And Dragons Classes Fifth Edition Classes and leave the current as page a disambiguation for all the class pages of the different editions.
openI think the external links section of Creepypasta is too big
See for your self, Creepypasta. It also include a very dubious entry like this.
- The Untitled Fantendo Story sorta fits this, especially in the "real life" chapters. Has a much happier ending, since the author did not write it intending for it to be creepypasta-like.
I think it should be cut down to just collection sites.
openRandom image in the middle of a page
WebAnimation.SuctionCupMan has a random image in the middle of the page for some reason.
openBad Editing Patterns
Troper F7421 has a long history by now of terrible edits in pages. Leaving unpotholed and Zero Context Examples all over pages such as Space Jam: A New Legacy and Luca, particularly with stuff such as "Foreshadowing" which they don't seem to ever pothole.
Edited by VengefulBaleopenIgnorant tropers. Webcomic
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/TwoKinds Who was working on the description regarding Trace? He wants to REMEMBER his past, but he doesn't want to become his old self. Huge difference here.
"However, his memories are slowly returning, and with them a past he would prefer to remain forgotten."
https://twokinds-keenspot.com/comic/1030/ "Roselyn: Wait, but don’t you… want to return to your former self?
Trace: No! Of course not! I want to know who I was, so I understand what it is I’m fighting against! And hopefully fix some of the problems I caused! I was hoping you could help."
openWas it necessary to spoiler tag the whole example?
I found 2 ymmv page examples that I find it bothersome because they spoiler tag the whole sentence that include non spoiler words and real life stuff. Here are the examples. From The Predator
- Narm: Autism, particularly the unrealistic Idiot Savant archetype, being considered "evolution's next step". It only avoids being offensive by being laughable, given how inaccurate by evolutionary science standards it is.
- Jerkass Woobie: Max retroactively becomes one following "Parents Day". It was hinted before that his parents were neglectful, but this episode confirms it. He spends most of the day being a brat and acting out of jealousy upon seeing all the other kids hanging out with their parents. Then, not only do his parents never show up, it's revealed they didn't even sign him up for a specific activity. They just didn't want him around. The reminder of this is enough to bring Max to tears.
openFranchise Killing in Digimon Anime
So, Digimon is registered in Franchise Killer under the following context: The decline of the virtual pet craze caused Digimon to take a few major knocks in the merch sales, and it wasn't helped by Digimon Tamers underperforming in its target demographic (though it did end up Vindicated by History when older audiences rediscovered it). Digimon Frontier attempted to reverse the decline by retooling itself as a Henshin Hero series, but this alienated a chunk of existing fans and failed to create enough new ones, putting the franchise on ice until Digimon Data Squad four years later. And then it went on hiatus until Digimon Fusion four years later again. And then another hiatus until Digimon Adventure tri. four years later yet again (five'' years later with Digimon Universe: App Monsters if only counting TV shows). Needless to say, the franchise has had it rough since its heyday.
I have to ask, is this valid? Considering the franchise still continues to this day, does it really belong on the Franchise Killer page?
openDeleting a leftover tab from a work's namespace migration.
Dr. Crafty's page experienced a namespace migration a while back, going from Web Original to Web Animation. Is there a way to remove the Web Original link that is on the work's page tab list? It redirects to the proper page name, but I'm not sure if it is necessary to keep listed.
Edited by Notsofriendlyresolved Complaints on Headscratchers.Black Widow 2021
On Headscratchers.Black Widow 2021, there was this entry:
- The number of the Black Widow operatives in the main page was highly exaggerated. I'm sure that if you took the pain of counting the dots on the screen it would barely break the thousand mark, not to mention that Dreykov was supposedly able to personally control each and every one of them from his board. As for why they couldn't be found... S.H.I.E.L.D. was infiltrated by HYDRA literally from the start and none of the S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives were able to sniff out something. It's possible that spy organizations are literally that incompetent on Marvel. Or we can just accept it's a dumb idea and roll with it for the sake of the story.
I removed the last sentence as it seemed like a complaint about the movie. However it was added back with the reason "You don't modify others entries on headscratchers unless it's to remove a dead pothole or spoiler tags."
I sent them a PM about it, but I haven't received a response yet. I don't wish to cause an edit war, so what should be done?
opendo we have a particular preference for images in character pages?
i'm thinking about eventually updating the images on Dungeon Fighter Online Players and i have two options i've been tossing around:
- higher res dialogue portraits (which are just upper body)
- the actual official art (the whole body, but loss of details due to image box size limit)
openRandom log-outs
Is there an issue with the site? I keep getting randomly logged out, on mobile and laptop.
openIs there anyone who can't upload an avatar like me?
I'm not using my desktop but that shouldn't be about it. I'm wondering if anyone else's having the same problem on their smartphones.
openTroping discarded playtest content (D&D)
The Characters.Dungeons And Dragons Classes page tropes various subclasses that were only released as playtest content, and never saw an official release in a book. While this might be okay(?) (since the playtest was from WOTC), the page doesn't make any distinction in the class's description which subclasses are official and which are discarded playtests- it lists them all in a way that implies that they're offical. It also lists the entire Mystic class, which never saw print.
It also links directly to the PDFs of the playtests of many of the offical releases, which is just kind of weird. Pretty much no DM allows the use of playtest versions of things that saw offical release.
I asked on the discussion page for opinions on this, as I'd like to either remove the playtest stuff altogether (probably moving it to What Could Have Been) or at least clearly mark on the page that it never got an offical release, but there was no response.
Edited by Orbitingopensomeone deleted Memetic Mutation? Videogame
Inky 100 has deleted the entirety of Memetic Mutation from YMMV.Five Night At Freddys Security Breach. Should I put it back?
Edited by TheLuckOfTheClaws
Along with not properly wicking single-word tropes, these edits on Batman: The Dark Knight Returns by Wyllelm feel agenda-y. Thoughts?
