open What counts as Arc Fatigue
Rose Bride has listed the Xyz arc of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V as Arc Fatigue on YMMV.Yu Gi Oh Arc V on the grounds of simply happening in the first place. This is despite the fact that most of the complaints leveled against that arc are that it's too short, which is the opposite of Arc Fatigue. I removed it under that reasoning, but it was put back.
openTerminology correction Videogame
Okay a few weeks back another troper changed some (but not all) instances of "Tempering" in Characters.Final Fantasy XIV Primals And Beastmen to "Branding" I made a subsequent edit of a similar vein in this page for consistency's sake, but I was a little skeptical because at least in the English client, the term "Tempering" seems to be most universal one
To elaborate, the game reinterprets the traditional summons of past games into malicious beings able to brainwash others (dubbed "primals"). With some having elemental themed terms for this process. I feel that the troper might had made the change because the word "temper" has origins in blacksmithing and thus seems a little closer to Ifrit (who coincidentally is the first primal the player faces in the game). But the term was used in other context to refer to other Primals
With all that said. I'd like to changes the instances of "Branding" abck to "Tempered", but I came here to get permission to do so because otherwise, I engage in an edit war
Edited by MorningStar1337open Unknown Trope? Live Action TV
In Mr. Deed, when the shareholders are standing up and talking about their childhood dreams, one of the people to speak was a woman who said she dreamed of being a man. In Mean Girls, during the apology and trust fall scene, one of the girls admitted to not actually being a student in the school, and said she was there because she has a lot of feelings. In bad Moms, when the various moms were admitting to bad parenting, one of the woman said she doesn't have kids, and she only goes to the meetings because she's lonely. Does this trope have a name?
Edited by AblazeFlyopen De.Hey Die Stimme Kenn Ich Doch
Hey, die Stimme kenn' ich doch, the German version of Hey Its That Voice, still exists. It only has one wick, but 91 inbounds. Should it be redirected to De.Rollen Assoziation (the German version of Role Association)?
open Hey Its That Guy/Voice: Back from the Dead
People are still adding Hey Its That Guy and Hey Its That Voice to trivia pages. Is there anything we can do?
openCalling the role section "Notable Roles"
I have noticed a few voice actor pages—both western or eastern—have the roles section started by a "Notable Roles" header. Would the use of "Notable" here be a per se violation of There Is No Such Thing As Notability?
Edited by SamCurtopenSidebar - Menu seems permanently open
My kitten jumped on the keyset (there should be a Kitty Keys trope) and before Paw Sense could block his input he had somehow changed the TV Tropes display so that the right-hand (well, left-hand in my case) menu is showing all the time. I want to change it back to Classic View? I think it's called, but can't find where to do that. Your help and patience are appreciated. Thank you.
Edited by CaptEquinoxopenWhere does this go?
Where do recs go for works set in the Nasuverse but outside of any official work? The one I want to recommend is set at the Clock Tower, but not as part of Fate/stay night, Fate/Zero, etc.
openTheNapoleon
Is there like a cut-off height for The Napoleon trope, or does it apply to any character that is shorter by any amount than another and is notably aggressive?
Relevant example: Flash Thompson from Spider-Man: Homecoming is listed as being two inches shorter than Peter.
Edited by Eagalopen 90's Tv special
Looking for the name of a tv special that was aired i think on CBC perhaps. It was aired a few years in a row in the 1990's. I remember that there was a young boy likely 10 or 12 who was troubled.. had mental health issues and liked playing with fire. He would hide himself in this little closet and make drawings of dark/satanic photos on the closet walls. I remember he got playing with fire and the place caught on fire. The song Crimson and Clover was playing at this time.
openPunctuation
How can I add punctuation to the displayed title for a page? My specific example, I'm in the process of creating Starcraft Raynor's Raiders, but want the title to show up at the top as "Raynor's Raiders."
openBiased Posts
I don't know who posted it, but someone should check out the Real Life entries of Wunza Plot. They're sort of politically biased. (Well, more than "sort of".)
open Harmless Same-Sex Crush
I think this should be restored, since the trope was not intended to be a duplicate of "Romantic" Two-Girl Friendship, but rather a distinction that the parents (or other authority figures) make.
openMain/TheInternet
I've just noticed that the page for The Internet has a headscratchers attached to it, and that seems to be mostly people complaining about stuff they don't like about the internet. Is that something that should exist?
open"Tropes" on Series.ThePriceIsRight
The Price Is Right's page has a section for Game Show Tropes, and a section for other tropes on the wiki, but before that, there is a section for other "tropes" in the show that don't have pages. Is that allowed?
openAndroid (Netrunner) index and character sheet cleanup
I very, very recently got into Android Netrunner (after deciding Hearthstone was garbage.) I was delighted by the gameplay and intrigued by the flavor text in the boxes and started building up the Netrunner character sheet.
That turned out to be a bad move. Android Netrunner is actually part of a larger franchise called Android. I need to move all that stuff in the Netrunner page into the general Android universal page. I made a blank character sheet and intended to start moving items over, but due to its nested nature, I wanted to hold off and wait for advice on indexing, and moving all that content over. Can anyone take a look at Android, Netrunner, its respective character sheets and give me some advice and steps for fixing this mess?
Edited by CantidoopenExpanding a Trope
Question: is there a rule against someone who launched a trope deciding to "expand" it later?
(NOTE: I'm not sure if this is allowed. If it's not cool for me to make these types of ATT posts with a forum ban, I'll never do so again.)
A while back, I launched the Wet Blanket Wife trope based on an article I'd read which talked about how wife characters were usually mitigated to trying to stop their husbands from participating in the plot. However, since then, a number of examples that I've seen (and have occasionally been added to the page by others) have demonstrated that this isn't limited to being a Love Interest or wife and, in fact, can be just about ANY woman or female character.
As such, if it's possible, I'd like to expand the trope description and/or rename the trope to Wet Blanket Woman.
Edited by KingZeal
So, in YMMV.New Game, there was originally an entry for Base-Breaking Character. However, today there was a The Scrappy entry added regarding one of the characters already listed under Base Breaking Character, and later the Base Breaking Character entry for that character was removed due to "conflict."
So, are these two tropes mutually exclusive, or there can be overlap between the two?
