This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Er, That Came Out Wrong... by "lack of N.T.", I meant the article. Not the tentacles themselves. Yeesh.
However, now I know the wiki needs to preserve an image, and such a need isn't just a whim about joining the likes of Wikipedia.
Of course, during this time as a suspended troper I'm learning a lot, lurking the Administrivia index.

Can someone tell me who banned me and what it specifically was for? Saying "Vandalism" really doesn't help if I don't know which of the myriad posts it's referring to. Habeas Corpus gives me the right to know what I'm being charged of and who is doing it.

@arcsin: This isn't a formal legal system, so there is no official right to Habeas Corpus. That being said, yes, it was your edits to Manga.K On, Characters.K On, and Characters.Sora No Otoshimono—all three of them were rather obnoxious editorializing about how characters are perverts, pedophiles, "retards"*, and completely useless. This wiki is not a dumping group for how much you hate particular characters.

??? I was actually trying to help by submitting works for the P5 to overview. I understand I made some of the submissions mistakenly, and I was trying to rectify them and to apologize to the people I had offended in doing so. I admit I really have no idea how the system is supposed to work for real, I guess but I wasn't trying to troll or create damage.

@Alex Sora 89: We've been talking about this among the mods. I appreciate your willingness to actually look at our rules and policies, never mind that it's taken this long. I'm going to extend a good-faith second chance here. Please don't expect a third.
@Goldstone: I believe that, since Eddie blocked you from the cutlist, we can extend one of those rare third chances. I am quite serious: if you start on another deletion spree, we will block you not only from editing but from the entire wiki.
@arcsin: Apparently you didn't notice my reply where I pointed out the kind of asinine edits you were making that got you suspended. You aren't helping your case. I see no reason to release your suspension at this point.
@A Groupie: We're having a little debate about this, but the issue is that you are trying to get articles removed from the wiki under our new content policy that are not even close to the kinds of violations that we are looking at. We welcome good-faith concerns about problem articles. We do not welcome people trying to score sarcasm points or use the policy to crusade against things just because they find them personally objectionable. We are not cutting Mein Kampf, for God's sake.
Edit: Further, you do not get to unilaterally remove images you object to. You do not suggest cutting entire indexes for banal reasons. We don't need Windmill Crusaders on this wiki.

@A Groupie: What you can do is bring these issues up in the proper places. For example, if you want to remove an image, use the Image Pickin' forum. If you think an index is not serving any purpose, bring it up in Trope Repair Shop. That way the wiki as a whole decides, not just you all by your lonesome.
If you genuinely think an article is in violation of our new anti-porn content policy, then use the flagging tool or post in the proper thread in Wiki Talk.
Follow procedures and everyone is happy. Act unilaterally and you end up here. Got it?
@RoseAndHeather: I don't know if you are still reading this, and I will send you a PM as well. My sincerest apologies for not replying to your suspension. What got it issued was you engaging in an Edit War with Fast Eddie on the FORKS article — specifically, putting back an entry that he deleted because it was, essentially, flaming the wiki. This kind of negativity is what got the entire set of articles in TABLE removed.
We do not put up with people using wiki articles as platforms for Complaining about the wiki. That is unacceptable, hypocritical, and in very poor taste besides. If you want to debate specific policy issues, come here, to the forums, where we have said debates. Do not passive-aggressively attack the wiki on the wiki.

@ Fighteer: thanks, pal. About the wiki's policies, remember that you can silence any "why did we have to cut this too?" kind of complaints (like those of mine, obviously) with four words: The Second Google Incident. That article alone made me realise the wiki's problems instantly, so adding that to the other reasons for obeying the rules - aside from the fact that rules are, well, rules - would help a lot.
By the way... I had made another request in "ask the tropers" previously, one for archived MHTML versions of the no-more-existing articles. Did that clash with the rules somewhat?

To be honest - and I don't know how it didn't register, I can only assume that it was due to my temper at the time - I didn't realize it was Fast Eddie who had removed it. I thought it was just another troper. Which doesn't excuse the edit warring, or the vitriol, but I'd like to think I am not so entirely stupid as to knowingly edit war with Fast Eddie. That was my oops.
That said, I am sorry, too, about the vitriol - again, I was in quite a temper at the time, and apparently my good judgment went out the window. From now on I'll keep my opinions of the wiki off the wiki itself.

I had an inappropriate reaction because I tend to react "on the fly" when I read a text. I read the new content policy to about "Yes and no." then went around making two bitter edits (but nothing vulgar) and protest-cutlisted Romeo And Juliet again with a different "reason", before I read the rest of the policy and saw the rule against it.
I was unaware of the "panic" angle that Bobby G mentioned: I guess I found myself on the other end of Poe's Law: I didn't think anyone could take it as other than a protest, especially since condottiera recognized it as a protest at first glance.
I make amends for that.
PS: MarqFJA, I'm not sure why you deleted the whole bullet point in The Second Google Incident rather than just the second part. I thought the first part was pretty neutral.

Medinoc, we have had problems with people cutlisting things these past few days. It is causing a panic making everyone think we will cut material which is actually in line with our policy but is misrepresented. That's why we ask that you do not cutlist works, whether in protest or otherwise, but instead bring them for review before the panel selected precisely for this job.
I understand the confusion and dissent that may arise, since this a very big change, but please don't contribute like that to the issue. We are trying to get the new system working in order to have works cut unfairly return, but cutlist sprees actually obstruct our goal and slow down our work.

Bobby G explained that to me indeed after the fact. It was not my intent to cause a panic, I would not have added it to the cutlist again if I had suspected a risk.

We welcome constructive debate and criticism. We absolutely will not tolerate acting out in anger by defacing the wiki, cutlisting or blanking perfectly good articles, or going on rantfests.

Surfing the forums
Recently I was suspended because of my overzealous cutlisting. While I understand why I was banned, the problem I have is I wasn't contacted personally. If I hadn't read Fighteer's post in a thread I don't often visit, I would have no idea why I was banned.
I get that I made a mistake, but I wasn't given a PM about my suspension. I wasn't given any details on how long the suspension would be and I was under the impression that I was just suspended from cutlisting and not editing normal pages. I don't mind being suspended from cutlisting because, honestly, I don't like that feature, but I like editing and I'm asking when I'll have the privilege back.

For the nth time, the suspension is your notification. You are told to come here to talk about it when you try to edit. We will not be engaged in a debate about the suspension policy.
The fact is that we told you to cut out the cutlisting and you kept doing it anyway. We are sick of people deliberately misinterpreting our new content policy as either (a) license to cutlist anything they find even vaguely objectionable, (b) license to cutlist material they know is innocuous as a lame form of protest.
I know feelings have been running high this past week. That is not an excuse to go crazy.

Other than using this super offensive 'r' word (now I know) to describe an indeed retarded character, (OK maybe mildly retarded, disputable on that, at the least she is said to be mentally challenged in the manga), I don't see how I've violated any policy. I simply stated a fact using the wrong word. Same thing for saying a character might be a lesbian. She might be, and I wanted to add that fact to the wiki for informative purposes. That one wasn't hateful at all, unless the 'l' word is banned too, which of course leads to Unfortunate Implications.
Characters.Sora No Otoshimono: "The typical boring high school student who just wants a quiet life. Slightly differentiated from every other harem lead by the fact that instead of being a celibate virgin, he's actually perverted. The only problem being that he's not perverted as in lovable leech pervert, he's perverted as in registered sex offender pervert."
Once again I'm stating a fact. Well, nothing is a fact fact on this wiki, there is a degree of subjectivity involved. But that character is portrayed as a pervert in the manga, and I'm trying to exactly explain how.
I don't get that there's a problem.

"Suspension" implies it's temporary and as such can be lifted after we think you've served enough time. "Ban" is permanent and usually includes a bounce, which I'll leave to someone more qualified to explain.
