A Game of Gods Season 3: Renaissance

Go To

The Malone Report of 21600 confirmed the suspicions of many.

For all of known history, there have been legends of heroes and villains, men and monsters who came to this world from others. At first people theorized they were legends of beings beyond the stars, but as civilisation expanded across the final frontier, we learned we were alone in the universe.

As more incursions came to light, we realized that although we were alone in the universe, our universe wasn’t alone.

We were a playground of the gods, those with enough power to travel across the void, to punch holes in the fabric of reality. No hole was the same, though: some were ragged wounds, left carelessly open. Others were dainty incisions, sealed as soon as their creator’s business was done.

Over time, we learned to peer through these holes. Although we could not travel, we could observe. We learned much, copied some. Some worlds were primitive, some advanced, some filled with awesome technology, some powered by magic, and some a mix of all four.

Then one day, a universe turned black. Here one minute, gone the other. No threat to the universe was observed, no reason for it to suddenly stop existing. As we watch, more and more universes died.

The first, and most prevalent theory, was entropy. From what was observed, a universe’s energy did bleed through open holes in it’s fabric. Some of the disappearances conformed to all the hallmarks of a universe that simply ran out of easily accessible energy.

But some did not.

The Malone Report was a product of nearly a decade’s research. It took into account all recorded cases of a universe disappearing of our collective radar, cross-referenced all the data, and came to a conclusion.

Holes in the fabric of reality didn’t only threaten a universe with entropy. It threatened them with instability. Enough instability that a universe could simply cease to exist at any moment.

There was panic. Riots. Revolution.

But with a threat so huge, it would have been irresponsible for the Malone Report to not provide a solution.

Under seemingly random conditions, a hole could self-seal. Although it was rare, a universe could have the punctures in it’s reality sealed, and become stable once more. If a way could be found to seal the wounds, our universe would be saved.

On the 19th of October, 21606, we found our solution.

Through one of our observation posts, we spotted a figure entering another universe. Whatever means she used sealed the hole behind her. That began the years of research on this figure.

Her name is Rook. She’s a woman, or the female of whatever species she is. According to legend, a being of enormous power stole her away from her own world, and set her a series of challenges. She overcome everything thrown her way, and at the end of it all, she refused the reward offered. Over the course of her trials, she had grown to love the lonely god, and the god her.

The god gave her technology out of the enormous cache they had accumulated, and let her wander the multiverse. And although it is supposed to be impossible to find the home of the god, Rook would always know the way.

This woman has the power to seal the holes in our reality. But we’re on a race against time. Our universe grows more unstable by the day. Through observation of Rook, we’ve developed a way of temporarily reopening the holes she makes as she passes. But it can only be done once. Any team we sent would be on a suicide mission, never to return home.

Because even if they found Rook, even if she sealed the holes for us from the other side, our universe has grown so unstable that we can only afford one more hole, however temporary, before the next one destroys us completely.

But there are more universes out there. Through our observation, we have discovered people of great powers and abilities. Although their universes are unstable, they’re more stable than ours. If we can open Rook’s holes to those universes at the right times, we can gather a team. A team to hunt Rook down.

The problem is, once we’ve reopened those holes, we can’t do it a second time. They have to find Rook or never return home.

We here at the Center for Universal Survival took a vote. Unanimously, we decided this plan was completely unethical.

Unanimously, we decided there was no other way.

Hello, and welcome to A Game of Gods: Renaissance, a third-generation AGOG game. Despite my long-winded spiel up there, the premise is simple: a dying civilization has dragged your characters together to hunt down a woman named Rook, who holds the key to saving their universe.

The catch? Our heroes (or villains, or neutrals) have been chosen because their universes are unstable too. And if their universes collapse, they too will cease to exist.

But what does “unstable” really mean? What it means is that the universe is changed, liable to outside forces. Effectively, a “stable” universe is a canon universe.

And thus, to be played in this game, any character must be an Alternate Universe version of a canon character.

What counts as an alternate universe version of a character? Any change to the canon. Perhaps they were born the opposite gender, and this affected how society viewed them. Perhaps their lineage was different, and thus they were born with different abilities. Perhaps the entirety of their society has changed.

Or maybe, just maybe, the big change is that they’ve been a part of the game of gods before.

What we want from our players is creativity. Think long and hard about the change you’re making to the character. How does it affect their story? Do they even go on the journey they do in canon? Does the change affect their status in society? Would different treatment as a result of this change affect their personality? Would the change hamper or help the development of their abilities?

Please also remember that if you giveth, you should also taketh away. A Spider-Man who kept the power-enhancing black suit would have major changes to his personality, and infact may be more monstrous than the one we know and love.

We’re asking you to take the dominoes canon sets up, and knock them down in a new and strange way. Maybe even keep them standing.

With the help of a Handler feeding information into their ears, and a mobile base of operations/portal generator, our Alternates will track down Rook and save their own lives, as well as those of billions of innocent people.

And if that’s not enough motivation, legend has it that Rook knows the way to a cache of godlike technology. Technology that their Handler is all too willing to give as payment.

Despite this being a sequel to two previous sets of games, you don’t have to be an AGOG Veteran to join in on the fun, and inexperienced players are completely welcome. The plot connection between this game and previous games is extremely loose.

So, your mission, if you choose to accept it…

Rules:

Signup Rules:

Characters must be A Us of canon characters. These A Us may be created by you, inspired by other people’s takes on the character, be a “canon” AU (for example, House of M, Marvel 1602, Flashpoint, or that one universe where everyone is evil and Spock has a goatee), or simply be a character who has been in an AGOG game before and remembers the experience.

One character per player. Any more than that will be taken on case-by-case basis, but if we believe that you’re able to handle it, we’ll allow it. Try and stick with two maximum to start with, though, even if we believe you could handle three or four.

Duos are allowed, but we’ll taking it on a case-by-case basis. In the past, “duo” has meant characters such as Jak and Daxter, where only one is combat-effective and the other just serves as someone to bounce off of, personality-wise. If you feel like your character’s personality works best when they have their constant partner around, but both are combat-capable (for example, Grif and Simmons from Red Vs Blue work best as a double act), send the pair at us and we’ll discuss it.

We’d also like to keep powerlevels at a reasonable standard, but anything can be nerfed. Even if you think your character is too powerful, send them our way and we’ll discuss it. Rule of thumb, though: if your character can cause or fix natural disasters single-handedly in a short length of time, expect some nerfs.

Gameplay Rules:

No real specific rules, but keep to general R Ping etiquette. No ghosting (simply ignoring any attacks sent your character’s way); no autohitting (whether your character’s attack lands is up to the other player, not you); no taking control of other people’s characters, etc. Of course, this being etiquette and not laws, you can make breaches if they’re discussed with the other player beforehand.

The only real rule is that GM rulings are final, and must be obeyed, though if you have objections these rulings can be politely discussed.

And of course, please obey all Forum Rules, especially those relating specifically to the RP Forums.
Once you’re done here, head on over to the Discussion Thread (Don’t try and read it all, we prefer our players alive) and the actual game thread.

Your G Ms (Makaioh, Meanken, wikkit and Katarsus) hope you enjoy your time playing in A Game of Gods: Renaissance.

  • Name: Fuuka Yamagishi
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance: Link
  • Universe: Persona 3
  • Personality: The very image of the shy introvert, Fuuka will avoid any situations involving other people and apologize for getting in their way when she can't. She's quick to capitulate to other people's requests of her and can't find it in herself to hold anything against them, even when they're just Taking Advantage of Generosity.
  • Backstory: Born to a family of doctors, the young Fuuka was pressured to achieve from early childhood. Combined with the bullying she got at school, she ended up very shy and withdrawn, and plagued with doubt. There was a time when she was very different. A time when, thanks to her new friends and the adventures they went on together, Fuuka had grown a backbone without losing her compassion, becoming The Heart of SEES. Unfortunately some jackass overruled the literally unanimous decision of everyone else and decided to just run away from the whole "end of the world" thing by erasing everyone's memories of it so that they could live out their lives in peace until the end came. Unfortunately this turned Fuuka back into a timid doormat.
  • Powers/Abilities/Equipment:
    • Persona: Due to her memory loss, Fuuka will not be able to summon her Persona until it is reawakened. Until then she will have a limited ability to access it's powers; namely the ability to vaguely sense nearby danger, enough to know it's magnitude and direction but nothing more than that. Her Persona could be reawakened under any number of circumstances, but these are the ones that come to mind: facing her Shadow (literally or metaphorically), a life-or-death situation, or some outside force messing with her mind. Once this happens, she will be able to summon...
      • Lucia: Yeah, she's back to her basic Persona. She has no direct offensive capability whatsoever, but is very suited for serving as Mission Control.
        • Shield: Not an ability so much as part of Lucia's structure. While Lucia is active, Fuuka will be safely contained inside of it. I'm not sure exactly how strong the shield is, so I'll tentatively say concrete-level. The downside is that it's also immobile, and so is Fuuka herself while she's using it.
        • Remote Viewing: Whilst Juno is active, Fuuka can extend her awareness to encompass an area in order to find something, or just to look around, up to a maximum range of 50 meters. It is possible to hide things from her using magic or psychic powers.
        • Enemy Analysis: Fuuka can also focus on a single entity to gain information such as it's name, classification, elemental weaknesses and resistances, abilities, gear, and any magical effects currently affecting the target. This analysis takes about ten seconds to complete, and she needs to be looking at the enemy that entire time. This is quite easy if it's in range of her remote viewing, but otherwise she needs to piggyback off of someone else's vision using...
        • Telepathy: Fuuka can telepathically communicate with her allies over very long distances. It is possible to disrupt this ability.
      • Juno: Fuuka's advanced Persona, which she'll be unable to use until she's had some character development (mid-to-late game). This will give her some additional powers:
        • Oracle: An emergency skill that can only be used once per day. When used, it will have one of five effects at random on every ally in a 5 meter radius from a point within her remote vision or an ally (I will actually roll for this): fully heal everyone, fully restore everyone's mana (or whatever their equivalent is), both of the previous effects, heal everyone of status ailments, or backfire on her allies, draining their mana-whatever and leaving them on the verge of death.
        • Escape Route: Another once-per-day emergency skill, this will teleport all allies in about a 5 meter radius from a point within her remote vision or a specific ally to Fuuka.
    • Techie: In addition to her supernatural powers, Fuuka is also highly skilled with technology (of late 2000s/early 2010s level), able to hack the servers of rich companies that could afford the best firewalls money could buy as well as reconstruct deleted files, even those as complex as videos. Future Canon Fuuka has apparently figured out how to use her telepathy to hijack wireless signals for hacking purposes, but that's something that would take at least a year for this Fuuka to learn.
  • Differences From Canon: This Fuuka is from the bad ending of Persona 3, where everyone forgot about their adventure, all their character development was undone, the world wasn't saved and will be instantly destroyed at some indeterminable point in the near future (certainly long before Persona 4 would happen).

"More Madoka characters welcome."
-biomechtraveler 2016

Technically Rebellion spoilers but I dunno if anyone cares. Still, don't read if you don't wanna be spoiled.

Name: Nagisa Momoe
Age: 14
Appearance: "We were once bringers of hope..." (The doll hanging off her leg is her Bebe form)
Universe: Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Personality: Cheerful, almost painfully energetic, naive, and somewhat single-minded, Nagisa is at a surface level glance all of these things. She speaks formally and lyrically for someone of her age, and she can be rather clever and observant, but this is a subtle sort of thing. It's easiest to notice her demeanor, and said demeanor is almost overbearingly childish. She has simplistic interests and tends to be repetitive in her goals and desires, she wants few things but she wants them a lot. Mostly, fun and food.

She's extremely blithe, and often fails to notice it when the mood is poor. She can be obviously annoying as a result. Nagisa just consistently fails to know when she should tone down her cheer, that is to say, she is at least somewhat aware but isn't really cognizant enough to know when to leave well enough alone. She does mean well, and she's always willing to try and cheer others up, albeit often not in the way that people would ask for. She's happy-go-lucky, and so stubbornly so that she can make things all the worse for her good humor. The bright side to this is that she herself is rather implacable emotionally. Things rarely faze her spirits, and in her own way she's a bastion, difficult to dissuade when determined. Difficult to dissuade in general.

She actually pathologically has little impetus or means to develop as a character. She's not quite human, more a simulacrum thereof, so her mental state is quite rigidly set and she doesn't deviate from it.

Backstory: Nagisa was once a girl who made a silly wish and suffered dearly for it, becoming a being of darkness when the consequences of her wish led to the death of her mother. Her magically granted powers, the price of her wish, consumed her despair and turned her into a Witch.

In this timeline, built from the original timeline of Madoka where Homura is the new and awkward girl and is the recruit into the canonical magical girl team, Madoka, Mami, and Sayaka. Nagisa's Witch form was killed off easily by the girls.

Soon thereafter, Mami admits she feels profoundly lonely and desolate one night. Homura's eventual wish, encouraged by Madoka, is for the creation of someone who will unfailingly revitalize Mami's failing spirits. Nagisa's resurrection is the endpoint of this wish, she's returned as a magical girl once more and integrated into the team, her indomitable cheer and childishness quickly endearing her to Mami and turning Nagisa into her moral and emotional anchor. The girls would enjoy the month as well as any magical girl within their system had the capacity to, and ultimately Walpurgis Night was narrowly defeated by the team's combined strength.

However this is the Puella Magi verse, so of course things can't simply end on a happy note. Madoka still had to die for the grand witch of stage to fall, peacefully passing away due to wounds she suffered during the fight. Homura didn't have the means to cause the events of canon to occur, her wish used on Mami, so she instead gave into the despair of losing a close friend, inspiration, and probable lesbian crush. She became a Witch on the spot, a powerful one fueled by the despair of love, and immediately engaged whats left of her party. Homura's Witch form was potent, and the remainder three were all nearly killed. The credit for their eventual victory fell primarily on Sayaka's shoulders, but her shining hour came at the cost of her own life, like Madoka before her she passed away peacefully from sustained injuries.

Mami and Nagisa were the only two left when the dust cleared, and Mami herself nearly also went the way of a Witch from the horrific trauma of the incident. But the power of Homura's wish held resolute. Nagisa immediately used Homura's Grief Seed to stabilize Mami from the brink, and Nagisa's friendship and care over the course of several tenuous months kept Mami from free falling into depths of despair she couldn't return from. The two then elected to travel away from the painful memories, and reunited with Mami's old 'apprentice' living in a different city, Kyoko.

Despite significant ideological divide they formed a stable group built around Nagisa's influence, and would endure through hardship and emotional bleakness for another three years. By the time of Nagisa's conscription into Renaissance Kyoko and Mami have become two of the eldest lived magical girls in recent history, still stable and fighting on.

Powers/Abilities/Equipment:

  • Magical Girl Weapon: Nagisa wields a magical 'trumpet' into battle, a colorful and garish instrument with a few odd kinks one wouldn't expect in an actual musical trumpet. Indeed it doesn't actually make music, but it instead has potent supportive powers and anti-magical capabilities.

The gist of the trumpet is that it shoots bubbles, like a particularly large bubble wand it can produce large clouds of iridescent and lathery beads in a few sustained seconds of blowing. These bubbles individually have little effect, they must be present in appreciable numbers for any of the abilities they can manifest to be noticed. They resonate strongly with magic and the supernatural and interact with it in several ways. Anything that is purely mundane in nature will merely pop the bubbles with no further effect. The bubbles can't do anything against old fashioned bricks or bullets.

If directed against something magical that has physical form, a construct of any sort, the bubbles inflict concussive damage against the magical entity, exploding without much force individually but rapidly becoming destructive due to their amount. This also allows the bubbles to, in numbers large enough to form protective shells, absorb harmful magical effects. They pop to absorb part of the magical energy, weakening the wrought spell until it can be outright cancelled. This mostly refers to magic with a physical form. The bubbles can damage magical barriers, or edifices freshly erected by magic; they can protect from conjured fireballs or magic missiles, but they can't stop more abstract things like curses or mind control, things that don't clearly have a physical representation for the magical effect.

The bubbles can also be used by allies for the effect of amplification. If their sundry supernatural abilities adhere to the 'it must have a physical form' rule they can cast their spells through a bubble cloud. This pops the bubbles, once more, but the bubbles give a linearly growing amount of energy instead of taking it away. The spell gains no new effects, it merely grows stronger. A fireball grows bigger and more explosive for every bubble popped, a magical sword gets a bit sharper and glowier for a brief amount of time, so on and so forth.

  • Bebe Form: Nagisa can assume at will the form of a baby-size doll, easily disguised as an actual doll if she doesn't move. She scampers and flies at deceptively quick speeds for her size, and can move about as fast as an average person can sprint. She is no more resilient than her flesh and blood form. She loses the ability to speak coherent English, but Bebe can elect to speak in gibberish that is comprehensible solely to those she wishes to be comprehensible to.
  • The Soul Gem: I could copy paste this from the other Puella Magi in this generation of Game of Gods. But yeah. The Soul Gem is the literal soul of Nagisa, if she's seperated from it by 50m or so her body will become inert and useless as it's now too far from her soul. If the Gem is broken, she dies. She must, like all other magical girls of her ilk, refill the Gem at regular intervals with the energy of defeated Witches in the form of Grief Seeds, lest her gem become corrupt and she become a Witch.

Compared to other Puella Magi she and her magic consume the gem at a notably slow pace. She only keeps 4 spare Grief Seeds on her person.

Differences From Canon: She's not supposed to occur as a character when she does in the canon of the series, and her introduction via wish significantly shapes the progression of the AU, ensuring some people who died in canon live and vice versa. It also significantly shapes her character. She loses a lot of her 'witch' traits and powers since she was specifically created to avail herself to a human, picking up a number of additional Puella Magi powers instead. Her character, while it doesn't necessarily change much, sees it's origins shift, which is where the 'not so human' aspect of her comes from. Here she was resurrected by a metaphysical force, and thus as a sentient entity reshaped to fill the role.

Ud: I'm sorry, but it honestly would. Freddy is unfortunately rejected.

For Fuuka Yagamishi, we're gonna have to reduce her remote viewing to a 50m radius. That's still a huge area, but not quite "across a small city". Her analysis will need ten seconds of concentration and keeping the enemy in line of sight. It will not work on P Cs and major NP Cs unless the player/GM allows it. Her healing will not go as far as regrowing organs and limbs, the mana effects will only effect those with mana, and this will all be subject to magic resistance. When you say "Everyone", do you just mean allies? And how large is "a large area"?

(Also, we're trying to actually implement a day/night system, so yeah it can be once a day.)

Nagisa Momoe is accepted. Please pretend that she has been present for all the events so far and just didn't decide to talk or draw attention to herself.

They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!

  • 50m isn't what I would call huge considering she has to stop using it whenever she wants to move. I don't think resummoning will be trivial for her, as she can't use cards like Yu and has no evoker. Is it possible to be able to sense things in a vaguer "there's something over there" way over longer distances?
  • Line of sight interacts weirdly with remote viewing; she's performed her role from the ground floor of a huge tower as the rest of the party climbed up it. Maybe she can use someone else's line of sight via telepathy or something? But yeah, she can't do anything else (including communicate) until the analysis is done.
  • Everyone does indeed mean allies only; Oracle doesn't hurt the enemy on it's worst effect, it just backfires. A "large area" would not actually be that large in retrospect since it affects the participants of a single fight, about a 5 meter radius.

Anura: The problem with that is that it could break challenges where the purpose is to find the whereabouts of something. Like the current challenge. A 50m radius gives her effectively 100m squared to work with, which is equivalent to a small city block.

And what would count as a "large radius" and "everyone" with her emergency teleport?

Ud: Yeah, totally. Just so long as the crossover is fleshed out. You can't just give Bats an Iron Man suit and change nothing else. Please remember that the Marvel/DC world from Season 2 featured Batman dying, so you can't exactly use that one.

Teleport is still allies only, and probably has the same not-actually-large-at-all radius as Oracle.

Also, a circle with a 50m radius would cover an area of 7854 square meters. 100 square meters would give her a paltry range of 5 meters. I understand that doesn't help my case, but if you're going to insist on exact measurements then at least math right. tongue

@GCR: Actually, I have something else entirely planned.

Name: Mega Man
Real Name: Rock Light
Age: 12 (physically), 7 (actual)
Appearance: Combination of this, this, and this
Universe: DC and Capcom Crossover
Powers/Abilities/Equipment:

  • Mega Buster: His signature weapon, fires concentrated blasts of heated plasma in either single shots or rapid fire. While a single shot is powerful enough to punch most materials, automatically sets itself between "stun" and "lethal" depending on scanners installed into his CPU, able to switch between the two in the span of picoseconds. Can be charged to fire off a more powerful blasts

  • Super Strength: Possesses enough physical strength to lift upwards of five ton, which is doubled when activating the Super Arm and/or any other strength enhancing abilities.

  • Enhanced Physical Abilities: Mega Man's body after his enhancement was specifically designed to be far superior than any regular human in all regards, including speed and agility. While paling in comparison to other heroes, his physical prowess is still above Olympian level (athlete, not Gods).

  • Titanium Alloy Armor: Mega Man's armor is able to withstand most forms of punishment, but is subject to wear after extensive amount damage, either through duration and/or large enough punishment. The only being thus far recorded that can instantly crack his armor in a single hit is a strong punch from a Kryptonian (trust me, they checked) and falling from a great height into spikes.

  • Jet Propelled Boots: Boots equipped with low grade jets thrusters. While powerful enough to keep him in the air, they can only keep him airborne for ten seconds and ideally only used for softening large falls. Sustained flight completely impossible without further enhancement and/or other equipment.

  • Martial Arts: Learned from various martial artists on basic hand-to-hand combat
  • Stealth: Learned the art of stealth from Batman himself; while good at hiding, he's not at the skill of Stealth Hi/Bye yet, and he still makes noise whenever he goes too fast

  • 'Variable Weapons System:'' Mega Man's greatest tool and Dr. Light major crowning achievement, it is a special mechanism which allows Mega Man to copy the data of any major weapons and powers used by other Robots and it has shown to even copy the abilities of various magical beings and artifacts. The Copy Chip can store up to 10 different weapons simultaneously, but they can only be used one at a time in tandem with the Mega Buster, all have a finite ammo capacity, and none can be charged up.

Personality: Mega Man was programmed to have a bright, cheerful, and child like personality, always looking at the bright side and very social. He also has a strong sense of justice as well as having love towards not only his family but to all living things as well. Honest at times to the point of being brutal and can be humble to a fault, it shows that he has a good heart, as shown through his kindness and his courage in the face of danger. He is also quite mature for his physical age, oftentimes acting like the voice of reason towards some of the weirder and/or playful members of the various teams and superheroes he works with. Though the Blue Bomber is an adament believer of redemption, believing there is good in everyone, he has particular dislike for those who constantly murder with no remorse at all and/or those who refuse to be redeemed. After six years of superheroing and meeting all kinds of villains, Rock has lost much of naivety on the matter and completely give up on those who spectacularly proven to him they have no goodness in them.

Due to his programming, he physically cannot kill anything that is human....but this does not mean he is incapable of killing anything sapient. On the contrary, whenever he is in a battle against sapient non-humans he has to manually set his weapons to stun rather than kill. This upsets him sometimes due to his own child-like nature and his refusal of killing humans, no matter whether or not they deserve it. Also due to his programming, his own emotional and moral standards are already hardwired into his being, making him incapable of suffering from emotional breakdowns and can sometimes incapable of making some hard moral choices unless severely pressured. More cynical individuals consider these to be signs of weakness and/or excuses to pick on Rock for being Just a Machine, but he usually ignores these comments.

However, his long tenure as a superhero left him with mental scars that can never truly heal. His previously mentioned limited programming allows him to genuinely recover fairly quickly, but he still has the memories in the form of flashbacks and horrific day dreams. The only things he is genuinely afraid of are the Joker and spikes.

Mega Man has extremely few people he genuinely hates. Three of them include The Joker, again, his biological uncle, Arthur Light, and supervillain Albert Wesker.

Backstory: The robot, Rock, was built by famed roboticists Dr. Thomas Light and Dr. Albert Wily during their tenure at Wayne Tech Enterprises, becoming the very first sapient robot to have a full range of emotions programmed into him along with an independent personality, dubbed a Robot Master. He was originally built to be an assistant to the two Doctors, but more and more he started to become emotionally attached to Light. Wily's envy would have stopped there, but then news of their work became more and more famous, Light began getting more and more praise and attention, even from Bruce Wayne and thw company heads themselves! Angered, Wily took all of his own project research while stealing many of Light's unused blueprints and left the company, planning on working for Wayne Tech's main competitor Lex Corp.

Months later at a robotics expo, Dr. Light was announcing the completion of his first line of fully functional Robot Masters, with Rock himself unveiling his newly built brothers. However, it was at this moment that Dr. Wily revealed himself to the world and proclaimed his desire to take over the world, bringing along an army of robots and high jacking the unveiled Robot Masters, programming them to be his Generals. Feeling responsible for Wily's turn to supervillainy and knowing his own creations would be too much for any superhero alone to handle with, Dr. Light decides to reformat Rock from a civilian robot.....into a super fighting robot, named Mega Man! With the help of both Superman and Batman, Mega Man was able to defeat Wily for the first time and became a national star. His second defeat of Wily, this time involving a new set of Robot Masters the villain created on the sly, led to another event, where the Board of Directors of Wayne Tech tried to confiscate Rock from Dr. Light due to a technicality involving weaponizing a project formerly meant for civilian use. Mega Man would have languished inside a locked safe in some subterranean basement if not for Bruce Wayne's timely intervention (which included an amoral paper pusher getting his teeth knocked out as well as given two weeks' notice).

Long story short, it result with Rock being officially adopted as Dr. Light son, with a law first proposed to Congress concerning the rights of artificial sapient creations and whether their creators should be considered as their parents.

After defeating Wily twice more, Mega Man was being considered just another superhero in a crowd full of metahumans, aliens, street fighters, and guys with cybernetic enhancements. Then came the moment Rock's life turned to something far grander......

During the day in which the Atlantean Empire and Themyscria Island, home of the Amazons, were to be officially inducted into the United Nations, the criminal organizations Shadowloo, S.I.N., and the Cult of Kobra made simultaneous attacks on the cities of Gotham, Metropolis, and New York respectively. Heroes from all over managed to repel all three attacks, until an unexpected contender entered the picture. Only nine heroes were there to defend the Earth against him, and one of them was Mega Man. The young robot soon became the one of the first to join the great team of heroes, forever known as the Justice League.

Since then, Rock has become known as one of the greatest heroes there was, an inspiration to all Robot Masters. As he continued to protect the citizens of Earth from crime, injustice, and Dr. Wily, he joined his father Dr. Light and worked to give free rights to other sapient robots globally. Mega Man also worked with various superhero organizations, even leading a few of them, including the Justice Leagues of America, International, Japan, and Magica; the Outsiders; and one stint as the leader of the ever changing Suicide Squad.

Currently, Mega Man is currently investigating a secret society called the Court of Owls........

Differences from Canon:

  • This version is in a crossover universe, which is obvious
  • Rock and his family, consisting of Roll, Dr. Light, Auto, his animal companions, and the first set of Robot Masters, operate out of Gotham City
  • Bruce Wayne is Rock's legal godfather, making him Rock's uncle
  • Rock trained under various martial artists from both DC and Capcom, including Batman, Wonder Woman, Ken Masters, etc.
  • Is one of the founding members of the Justice League, which include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Vixen, Green Lantern Jon Stewart, Aquaman, and Morrigan Aensland

FINISHED

Alright, with those limitations in place, Fuuka Yagamishi is accepted. Please do the whole "you've been there from the start, just haven't spoken" thing.

As for Mega Man... Okay, the armor can be pierced by any armor-piercing weapons. The copy chip is going to limited to weapons fielded by robots, and you need to ask GM permission first. I assume he's walking in without any copied weapons?

Also, I have to ask: is there any point of this being DC and Capcom crossover? Can't it just be DC and Mega Man? I don't see what the rest of Capcom is offering besides things that could be replaced with DC characters/organizations.

[up]Exactly!

The whole DC and Capcom thing was actually an idea I had for a singular setting for AGOG challenges back in Season 2 for each game but set in different time periods that brewed into a larger cohesive universe I cooked up in my head since it's conception.

@GCR: Yes, I am planning on him coming in with no Copy Weapons. I'll chalk it up to the transfer from his own universe into this one was a reason for the Bag of Spilling.

Hold on, since you didn't respond to it. Does "line of sight" for analysis include remote viewing and/or someone else's line of sight via telepathy, or must it be true line of sight?

Yeah, remote view and telepathy count. But you still need those ten seconds, so it might get difficult for the guy you're piggybacking to keep it up.

Name: Lucina

Age: 18

Appearance: Face, outfit reference, beast form.

  • This Lucina resembles a her canon human form pictured above in most respects, with a few obvious differences. She has long rabbit-like ears that reach from the top of her head down to her shoulders, which have her bangs braided around them and a metal ring worn around the base of each. She has neatly-groomed blue-black fur running down the back and sides of her neck, down over her shoulders and to a point between her shoulder blades. She also has a furry tail at the base of her spine. Her fingers and toes are tipped with claws, and pairs of thin black pigment lines mark her cheekbones and her forehead above her eyes.
  • Harder to see unless up close, she has the mystical family birthmark known as the Brand of the Exalt on her left eye
  • Outfit-wise, her boots are toe-less to accommodate her claws, and her jerkin has strategically tailored splits that mean it won't tear when she transforms.

Universe: Fire Emblem Awakening

Personality:

  • Friendly and polite, dedicated and strong-willed. Compassionate, if sometimes overly formal and serious.
  • Her formative years were spent fighting a hopeless war, watching her friends, family and soldiers fall. As such she hates the idea of heroic sacrifices and disposable pawns, determined to prevent death among her allies if possible. She is selfless almost to a fault – concealing her own injuries until her men have been cared for, spending most of her down-time checking in on her allies. She is haunted by her own expectations – the drive to live up to her father’s legacy, and to represent the taguel race.
  • Despite her grim upbringing, she maintains a hopeful attitude, and she has a deep appreciation for the simple, normal pleasures that she missed out on in during her warring years.

Backstory:

  • The daughter of war-hero king Chrom and his queen Panne, one of the last of the animal-like Taguel race on the continent.
  • Lucina was born into nobility and groomed to rule the nation of Ylisse. However, her half-breed status caused her problems from the start. Small, but vocal, sections of the populace did not agree with the idea of having an “animal” as their royal heir.
  • What’s more, a slight rift began to form between her parents over the direction her life should take. Panne felt that she and her brother Yarne should help her to rediscover the ways of the Taguel people, while Chrom, and Lucina herself, stressed the need for the heirs to learn the intricacies of rule and help heal the rift between taguel and humans.
  • Still, from pretty much the moment she could conceive of such things, she idolised her parents and strove to emulate both of them in all things, growing up into a polite, dedicated, compassionate young woman. The prejudice she experienced did not outwardly seem to faze her, although she was privately troubled that she would be unable to do the best she could for her people if some refused to accept her.
  • The question became academic when her kingdom’s enemies summoned the world-ending dragon-god Grima. In the struggle to prevent the summoning, Lucina’s parents were killed and she found herself queen of the embattled nation. Lucina stepped up to the plate and worked to lead her people through the storm, commanding armies, protecting survivors and working to find a way to defeat Grima, all at the tender age of 14.
  • This version of Lucina will be taken from 4 years later, after the defeat of Grima and the destruction of much of the human race on her planet.

Powers/Abilities/Equipment:

  • Master swordswoman: Lucina is a consummate swordswoman and is in peak physical condition.
  • Awakened Falchion: A relic of the Ylissean royal family, this ancient sword was forged from the fang of the benevolent dragon-goddess Naga. The blade, but not the handle or bindings, is indestructible and beyond razor-sharp (sharp enough to cleave through a tree stump with no appreciable resistance).
    • This version of the sword has had its innate divine power awakened, and when its wielder commands it, the blade glows red-hot and shines with a bright light. This magic is particularly potent against dragons, causing more extensive damage than would be apparent by the wounds its leaves.
    • It can also heal its user, although this requires concentration on their part and can only patch up minor wounds.
    • The sword is also somewhat sentient, although it doesn’t speak. It will only allow itself to be wielded by a select few – not only do they need to be of the royal bloodline, they must also be deemed worthy of the honour. For anyone else, the blade is as dull as a butter-knife.
  • Taguel transformation: Lucina can use a small faceted gem called a beaststone to transform into a large rabbit-like creature. Roughly the size of a horse, in this form she has sharp claws, a natural strength comparable to a bear, and a greatly enhanced running speed. Even in human form, she has sharpened senses of hearing and smell.

Differences From Canon:

  • For starters, in canon Panne and Chrom are impossible to pair up, so having Lucina as a taguel is impossible.
  • In this AU, Lucina and the rest of the second generation were able to find all five of the Fire Emblem’s gemstones, completed the sealing ritual and defeated Grima. Subsequently, they had no need to travel back in time and stayed in the “bad” future to rebuild.
  • This means that, while this Lucina managed to save her own world on her own terms, she hasn’t had the chance to see her parents again, nor spend any time in the “good” timeline. The psychological wounds of the war are therefore a little less well-healed.
