The fic in question is set in 2003 (a few years after Vento Aureo, but quite a while before Stone Ocean). But all Jo Jo arcs from Phantom Blood to Vento Aureo are canon in the backstory. Heck, it's not out of the question for Jotaro, Josuke, and possibly even Giorno to make an appearance or two in the fic, and one of the main characters lived in Morioh during the events of Diamond Is Unbreakable.

As for the tone/style of the fic itself, it's sort of a cross between parts 3 and 4, with the exception of one antagonist who might have been a Passione member before Giorno happened, though of course that is subject to change, since I'm not quite halfway through Vento Aureo yet.

So, I just cleared the King Crimson arc, and about the only way I can make sense of it, is like this.

Imagine, if you will, that time is like a video file on your computer. And King Crimson works kinda like a video editing software that works from inside the video file. KC is able to, at any point, reduce the next ten seconds of footage to a really, really slow framerate, while King Crimson itself still moves and operates at a normal framerate, allowing it to effortlessly evade attacks and even counterattack. Then, just to be an even trickier bastard, once the ten seconds are up and everything resumes its normal framerate, King Crimson can delete those ten seconds of footage entirely, and everyone's memories of that elapsed time as well. That deleted footage is (presumably) Lost Forever, so the only one who can ever have experienced it was King Crimson's user.

If The World is Time Stands Still, then King Crimson is more like "time fast-forward 10 seconds for everyone except me, and everyone forgets except me will forget what happened in those 10 seconds".

TL;DR: Fuck you King Crimson.

Other than that, I find Narancia to be kind of adorable.

It just works, man.

Alright, alright, jokes aside, you more-or-less have it right, although you were wrong on one thing. King Crimson has two abilities: First, it has Epitaph, which allows it to see what will happen 10 seconds in the future. This is basically a Required Secondary Power for the second ability, which is erasing up to the next 10 seconds of time. Everyone's actions except his are essentially treated as though they never happened, even though their results and consequences remain.

So instead of slowing down time as you suggest, it's more like he sees what will happen in 10 seconds and can act however he wants within that time. Then, he can erase that time to mess with people's actions and memories. So for instance, if I shoot the boss, he can predict what will happen and either dodge the bullet, or erase time so that the bullet passes through him harmlessly, since that action will be negated when he erases time. Pretty confusing, right?

This is sort of representative of a big theme of Part 5: The boss believes that only results are what matters, but as the story goes on, it becomes clear that actions are just as important - it is in trying to do something that meaning can be gained.

Anyway, around the time you first see King Crimson is the midway point of Part 5, so you only have another half to go.

I see.

Also, if you didn't catch it, another question for you back at the Negima thread.

... although, I suppose I can repurpose it for a more general usage here as well.

On doing a Jo Jo crossover with another universe that has its own version of vampires (Harry Potter, Hellsing, Negima, whatever), specifically of the "shared universe" or "combined continuity" type of fic. Keep the two settings' types of vampires distinct from each other, or not?

[up][up]Eh, Jojo-type vampires tend to come from the Stone Mask in particular, so I figure that they'd be a separate variety from other vampires in the setting. They don't really work the same as conventional vampires, anyways- I can't think of any other breed that sucks blood via fingers, for example.

True. But then again, we also have the Pillar Men, who are to vampires what vampires are to us, and it was a Pillar Man who created the Stone Mask in the first place.

Also, welcome to the thread!

re:Green Day and Oasis: ... so much MUDA in that ending. Not even DIO put out that much MUDA in one go.
Vento Aureo is perhaps the Part with most irredeemable asshat villains, so it says something about Cioccolata that that even the Big Bad (whose name is Diavolo, no less) is disgusted by him. That seven-page beatdown was fully deserved.

And fully awesome as well.

Also, the impression I've gotten of Diavolo thus far is mostly Pragmatic Villainy fueled by a shitload of paranoia, where Cioccolota was 95 percent For the Evulz, 30 percent For Science!.

And yes, I know that adds up to 125 percent. He was more than 100 percent evil, so it's hip.

I was wondering what to do if a Jojo character can use both Hamon and Stand, other than Joseph. What kind of neat tricks can they do, I wonder...

Of the Stands we've seen - or at least, of the Stands that I've seen - I think the only one that could be combined with the Ripple is Yukako's Love Deluxe, for the same reason as Hermit Purple: the Stand is a physical extension of her body, which would allow it to transmit Ripple energy.

Which more or less would make her a great contrast against Bruford, now that I think about it.

He attacks with his hair but is weak to Ripple, whereas she attacks with her hair but could in theory make use of Ripple. He's a dude who fought out of Undying Loyalty for his Queen. She's a Yandere who'll do anything for the object of her affections. .... They Fight Crime!?

lol That sounds like a great buddy cop flick

Stands were meant to be an evolution of Hamon, wasn't it? I remember someone saying so in part 3

Actually, I don't think there has ever been a conclusive meta origin for where Stand comes from. At least, I'm up to Polnareff's return in part 5 and I'm reasonably sure that one hasn't even been suggested yet.

Okay. So, a brief tangent in another thread led me to check out Totally Spies, and I find myself interested in doing a crossover of that with Stone Ocean, where the World Organization Of Human Protection sends the spies to investigate the bizarre shenanigans at a certain prison in Florida.

So looking on ffnet, what JJBA gets crossed over with more than anything else is Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

A couple of them are even pretty cool. (both oneshots, focusing on PMMM characters briefly encountering and talking with a JoJo.)

This multi-chaptered fic has an interesting summary, but I haven't had time to read it yet.

You know what else is kind of peculiar? There are two JJBA/Bleach crossovers, and both of them appear to star Hanataro Yamada. One of them appears to even have him as Giorno's son, though I haven't read either of the fics yet.

_______________________________

Stepping away from crossoverville for a moment, The Beginning of a Long-Ass Journey (just published a day or two ago) seems like it might be interesting. If nothing else, the author seems to have a decent handle on writing Jotaro.

EDIT: Here's another fic that seems like it might be interesting.

Summary is "A street Punk is paid over ten grand to break into area 52, and kill the ultimate life form...Of course, there's also going to be enemy stand users, vampires, Ripple, and other general lunacy. If he survives that far..."

It has two chapters, first chapter seems promising.

On a more romantic note, some Joseph/Suzie Q feels.

EVA-01 here again, having found another JJBA fic or two to share.

The Next Words Out of Your Mouth, basically an alternate take on Joseph and Jotaro's final battle with DIO.

And it has quite possibly the coolest Book Ends ever.

I've been making stands for various characters.

Amy Rose's Stand, Follow Your Heart, gives her immunity to all stand abilities. The obvious downside is that she can't be healed by stands like Crazy Diamond and Gold Experience. Still, No Selling The World, Made In Heaven and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap has it's perks.

Is she also able to lolnope Gold Experience Requiem?

Anyway, another neat fic I found: Go West, Young JoJo! Summary:

Jonah Joaquin meets Davie Viscido, who helps him to gain the Stand Radiohead. However, Davie soon turns out to be an evolution-obsessed madman whose plans could cause a majority of the human race to die! Embarking on a cross-country trip that spans from coast to coast, Jonah and his new friends must stop Davie and his Stand-using army!

The first two chapters seem interesting so far, but it's going to take a while longer to see if the author can really deliver on the promises in that summary.

I have some ideas for fanfic, but lack the time, the energy and the will to actually write them, so I'll just throw ideas here :

- A fanfic explaining how Sadao Kujo met Holly Joestar during the late 60's - early 70's... And getting dragged into bizarre adventures with his future-to-be father-in-law. It will end with Sadao basically going "screw that, I'm never getting involved into such weird shit again !", explaining why he's completely absent from Stardust Crusaders onwards. Although I have an idea for a scene. Ripple propagates well on metal, correct ? And I've never seen anything suggesting that Sadao doesn't play a brass instrument like a trumpet or a sax (of course, correct me if I'm wrong)... And the Ripple propagates lika waves, correct again ? Soooooo... How about Sadao finding a way to propagate it through soundwaves ? In other words... VAMPIRE KILLING MUSICAL SOLO !

- The events of Battle Tendency, except Jonathan didn't die 50 years prior and continued to train in the Hamon (especially after the death of his son George). Now the real problem would be for not having him completely overshadow Joseph.

- A crossover between Baoh The Visitor and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (if we consider they don't share the same universe). Jotaro would start investigating the theft of the Bow and Arrow, until he'd discovered that a splinter group of the organization that created the Baoh parasite is trying to mass-produce Stand users for war purposes. And of course, Ikuro Hashizawa would awaken and help Jotaro. I already have an idea for a scene : Ikuro would get pierced by the Arrow, but wouldn't be deemed worthy of having a Stand (and would only survive thanks to the Baoh parasite's regenerative abilities). However, during the final battle, Ikuro would get stabbed in the head with the Arrow... But it wouldn't have dug deep enough for killing the parasite, but just enough for scratching the parasite, who would get a Stand. An overpowered one that turns the tide in favor of the heroes, who were getting their asses kicked until then.

ISTR Sadao Kujo was a guitarist, but that could just be headcanon. I'm not sure.

Ripple energy is pretty much a form of magic light, due to being the same sort of energy as the sun (as originally explained by Zeppeli, IIRC). I applaud your creative spirit, but sound waves carrying light waves?

Third idea sounds promising, though I don't know the first thing about Baoh.
