How are All Blue Entry or SugarWiki.Eversion fanfics?
But basically you want another version of the Trope Pantheon, with this or that character representing a particular trope?

Check out my fanfiction!I'm done with arguing with you. I don't like strawmen, so don't use them.

Check out my fanfiction! You did use one.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. What has been cut so far? Also... Should Self Demonstrating / Palutena come back? In my opinion (And as someone who played KI:U) It was VERY spot on to Palutena. But it said "This page was cut for reason: Lacks a distinct voice, plus it's heavy on fanon."But we still have Captain Falcon, which in the original source material. (F-Zero not Smash) He wasn't just all "FALCON PUNCH! SHOW YA MOVES!" But the article is relying on "FALCON PUNCH!" and "HOOOOOWAAAAAAAHHHHH!" which neither are in F-Zero. Should we cut Falcon and bring back Palutena?

This sort of argument is exactly why we should arrive at a consensus about removing SDCPs entirely.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I don't really mind either way, but either we allow fanfiction, or we don't. I don't think allowing it only for characters who're popular enough and meet some arbitrary subjective standard is a particularly good idea.
Check out my fanfiction!Oh, please don't remove them entirely. Fanfiction or not, some of them are very funny.
That might be all the more reason for you or anyone else who really enjoys self-demonstrating character pages to download them for yourself.
As for my two cents on the matter, it's possible that I just don't consume the right works, but I never really paid much attention to self-demonstrating pages. If you guys can work out a way to let good-quality ones stay and maintain quality, whatever, if they all get cut, even Deadpool and Brian Blessed, whatever to that, as well.

"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Eddy 1215 has created Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls that is both uninteresting and is just a glorified recap of who he is.
For some reason, SelfDemonstrating.Phoenix Wright exists. As it is unfunny, uninformative, and Phoenix himself utterly lacks a distinctive voice, I recommend it be nuked from orbit.
Agreed.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I've said it before, I'll say it again, and I'll keep saying it until there's a Crowner for us to cast our votes on: Nuke 'em all. They're glorified fanfiction.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Can we exclude self demonstrating pages on creators like Brian Blessed from the definition of self demonstrating character pages? If you do, I'd be far more likely to be okay with nuking them all.
Let me answer that question with a question: was it actually created by Brian Blessed or is it simply fanfiction of an actual living person?
Because we already forbid troping of actual people. I can't imagine why writing elaborate fanfiction about them would be okay.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Bah! -[Redacted: inappropriate statement]- (And I wouldn't call it elaborate).
But after careful reflection, the self demonstrating pages that are about specific characters in fiction (and not, say, tropes) are cared about only by small a number of people. And only, usually, weakly.

Elaborate fanfiction of an actual, living person based entirely off some internet meme, then.
We are not urbandictionary or knowyourmeme. I see little value in giving special treatment to a page just because some people like the meme behind it.

Okay. I know these pages are not exactly policy. But they are just for fun. Those things are never exactly policy.
Also, you keep using that word. Elaborate. Most of the self demonstrating pages are short and simple. (ish.)
I am now going to accuse you of having no sense of humour. A meme is a joke, right? And some of them are pretty funny. No sense complaining about tvtropes pages you don't like, is there?
Also, that policy on no troping living people, I don't think it applies to an actor's performances.
I don't think cutting things or not because of how funny they are is a good policy. Everyone's taste is different.
Check out my fanfiction! You are probably right. A judgement call would have to be made and who would make it. It is a shame that things must be cut based on technical criteria alone.
I've got plenty sense of humor, I just keep it off the wiki. On the forums, I'm a riot.
But we make a big deal out of professionalism on the wiki, and the SD pages undermine that professionalism.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I don't buy it. There is nothing unprofessional about being funny. Especially on an entertainment site. Like with everything, there is professional grade comedy, and needs improvement comedy.
Funny is not the goal. It's a goal, and it's third in line behind Clear and Concise.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I don't think the SD pages are necessarily hurting anybody. But there are a LOT of bad ones.
~Another Duck, I don't feel the issue you present is a reason to cut Selfdemonstrating character pages specifically. It would apply to Recap.Doctor Who S 3 E 8 The Gunfighters, Main. All Blue Entry, and SugarWiki.Eversion as well. I think they're okay.
The key thing is that the pages cannot repeat the jokes used. To which end, I think the following would make sense as a limitation rule for the Self-demonstrating index/namespace:
- A page can be created to take advantage of the self-demonstrating nature of tropes, but no more than one page may be created to take advantage of any one trope.
This rule would mean SelfDemonstrating.Elmuh Fudd Syndwome precludes the creation of an SelfDemonstrating.Elmuh Fudd page.- Each page must also list the trope concept expressed by the page next to the page title.
Currently, only Don't Explain the Joke follows this rule. Brian Blessed would be Large Ham, SelfDemonstrating.Deadpool would be Breaking the Fourth Wall, and so on... This is a clear rule for the "unique voice" requirement.- Pages based on characters/works must include a wikilink to our official work page.
The idea here is a specific rule to prevent tropers from using the self-demonstrating character pages as our official character page. Link to TRS threads in project mode here.
