This is a thread for posting ideas for sequels to movies that do not and probably never will have a sequel. Even if you don't think a certain movie needs a sequel, it could still be fun to think of ideas, right?

Also, considering the nature of this thread, beware of spoilers. (Though I still think it'd be good practice to mark spoilers anyway. Just because you're thinking of a hypothetical sequel it doesn't mean it needs to pick up where the story of the previous one left off, right? You can go all Die Hard sequel on this mofo if you like.)

Anyway, while I think The Truman Show is perfectly fine where it ended, I wouldn't particularly mind a sequel that shows Truman adjusting to the real world after escaping the constructed one in which he has lived his entire life, as well as the potential media frenzy he'd probably need to endure. Of course, even just making a sequel to that movie would probably just utterly go against the entire point that it was trying to make, but it still would be interesting to see regardless.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.

Eragon 2: The Helgrindian Falcon
"Of all the cannibal monasteries in all the empires in all the world, and she flies into mine. I knew the dame was trouble from the moment I laid eyes on her- all flash and blue feathers, calling herself Saphira. Betcha won't see that on her birth certificate. But she was offering enough money to keep me in cigarettes and scotch until the Dragon Riders return, and all I had to do was find some young punk named Eragon..."

The other Greek Mythology fans on this site might lynch me for even suggesting this, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway:

I think it would have been awesome if they'd made a sequel to Troy centered on Odysseus, as a loose (emphasis on loose) film adaptation of The Odyssey, following Troy's idea of making a Demythification of Homer's epics. I'd call it Ithaca.

Hear me out: The reason I think it would be interesting to see the Demythification concept applied to The Odyssey is that, while The Iliad is a fairly straightforward tragic war drama about passions run amok (i.e. stripping out the fantasy still leaves the important parts of the story intact) The Odyssey's plot is driven almost entirely by its supernatural elements—since the bulk of the plot is focused on Odysseus overcoming supernatural obstacles on his journey to Ithaca.

If they put an imaginative screenwriter to the task, how would they spin the major steps in Odysseus' original journey (the Cyclops, Circe, Calypso, Tiresias, the journey into the Underworld, etc.) to make them seem believable adventures in a semi-realistic ocean voyage?

Would they replace the Cyclops with a tribe of self-immolating cannibal barbarians who each gouge out one eye? Would they turn Calypso into a psychopathic human queen who sexually enslaves men? Would they turn Circe into a shifty shamaness with a menagerie of animals at her command? Would they turn Tiresias into a lone hermit living in the ruins of a destroyed city?

Also a good part about the Demythification: it allows for some nice Reality Ensues moments that would go a long way towards deconstructing some of the Black-and-White Morality of the original epic. Would Penelope really have waited 20 years for Odysseus' return in real life? Would Odysseus really have been able to seamlessly return to his old life in Ithaca? How would his relationship with Telemachus really have played out in real life, where he would have been seen as Telemachus' Disappeared Dad?

If done right, a movie like that might actually manage to work some Not His Sled moments into the plot, unlike Troy (which, for all its tweaking of the original epic, really just ended with a Foregone Conclusion.

[up] Also: you may not remember from Troy, but Odysseus was actually played (albeit very briefly) by Sean Bean.

Eddard Stark playing Odysseus? Shut up and take my money!

I'd love to see a sequel to Sahara, perhaps based on another Dirk Pitt novel. I was never a huge fan of the books, but Sahara is one of my favorite movies.

Rōnin could have a sequel, since at the end Sam and Vincent agree to stay in touch. There wouldn't be much/any point to it, but they're very strong actors and interesting characters, and a few interesting support characters also survived who could return.

Quantum Of Solace is missing its direct sequel - I'd have loved a concluding part to what was essentially a trilogy with the Quantum organisation as villains, with Mr White finally being the Big Bad.

O Brother Where art Thou was loosely based on the Odyssey. And Odysseus survives the tale, so obviously Sean Bean can't play him.

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are probably right.

Every single movie ever needs to have a sequel that crosses it over with Sharknado. No exceptions.

Titanic? A sequel where another ship (named Titanic II) collides with a Sharknado and the Leonardo DiCaprio expy gets eaten by a shark.

Jaws? Well, obviously Jaws has a family, and they come back for revenge in a Sharknado.

Percy Jackson? Who needs a book three adaption? Just make a movie where Percy hunts down Luke with the Sharknado.

The Room? Well, everyone is in Johnny's room, and since they never leave the room, they're easy prey for the Sharknado that comes to town.

Gone With The Wind? "Frankly my dear, I'd only give a damn if there was a Sharknado!"

To Kill A Mockingbird? Atticus has to defend a Sharknado which has been accused of murder, while Scout is busy with childish innocence.

Citizen Kane? A prequel where he sleds through the greatest challenge: the Sharknado.

Shark Tale? Everyone gets carried off in a Sharknado and the audience is very happy.

Chariots of Fire? Well, you get the picture.

"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"

I would like to see more movies set in the Inception universe (but not with the same characters). The possibilities are virtually endless.

[up][up] I'd be interested in that, although I'd at least have Joseph Gordon Levitt and Ellen Page (and maybe Tom Hardy). As for whether having them appear would affect the ending of the first movie, simply have them not talk about Cobb in the movie (or only in the vaguest of terms).

Street Fighter II: Turbo

Ryu and Ken reconnect with their old master, Gouken, to make up for their criminal lifestyle and straying so far from the true path, but the reunion is cut short when a mysterious man who calls himself Akuma arrives and reveals he has supplanted Bison as the leader of his army, before killing Gouken. Only the timely arrival of their friends Chun-Li, Honda, Balrog, and Zangief, who had been tracking this new figure for some time, saves them from being his next victims. They team up to bring Akuma to justice. But Ryu's consumed by a burning need to avenge his old master, and it may drive him over the edge.

Meanwhile, Colonel Guile tries to rally the Allied Nations to launch another strike against this new Bison-wannabe, which is why he asked for Chun-Li's help. But her investigation has turned up surprising information about Lt. Cammy's past, revelations that shatter Cammy's perception of who she really is.

A Bug's Life 2...either showing Atta's reign as queen, or a prequel showing how Hopper gained control of the Ant Colony and explores the childhoods of Flik and Atta.

The Professional: The Return of Mathilda.

(Yeah, I did type Amelia. Ooops.)

Because there's no way in hell that the young lady who survived to the end of Léon: The Professional ever had a normal childhood, and didn't end up an assassin.

Bonus points for teaming up with Beatrix Kiddo's daughter.

Frozen 2: Because The Fans Won't Shut Up About One

It's now been a year since the events of Frozen took place and with Elsa fully in control of her powers and the population finally accepting Elsa and her powers the kingdom of Arendelle is at peace. The perfect ending.

OR IS IT!?!?¡¿

Turns out Elsa's forceful control of nature has instigated a global climate change of global proportions. Suddenly the entire world is looking at an eternal winter and not even love can stop it now. To make it worse, Hans has broken out of prison, Olaf is fighting a rebellion with Marshmallow for sentient snow creature rights and Sven is out of carrots. The only thing that can stop this new permanent winter is in a hidden book of spells by the trolls. Will Anna stop the winter and finally be done with cold? Can Elsa fight snow with more snow? Will reindeers finally talk for real??? No idea.
