If what I have read on the internet is anything to go by, it seems like there might be a new contender from the latest season of Naked and Afraid.
How recent is that? I'm usually in a doubt about anything "recent", since hair trigger reactions are all over the place, and they often don't paint the real picture.
Check out my fanfiction!I have a suggestion from the book Little Brother by Cory Doctorow.
- Carrie Johntstone, aka, the Severe Haircut Woman, should be hated because she's the villain of the story. Instead, she's hated because she's a one-dimensional Strawman who commits her atrocities For the Evulz.
That's probably correct. The hate is for a badly written character, rather than for her bad personality.
Check out my fanfiction!Three things:
1. Tails is really along the lines of a Base Breaker, but I would like to list him under The Scrappy for two particular portrayals of his character. One being his appearances in the classic Sonic games for being a major annoyance if he wasn't being controlled by a second player (see Stop Helping Me), and the other being his portrayal in Sonic Lost World where he was whiny towards Sonic. Shall I go for it?
2. Does Chip from Sonic Unleashed belong on the Scrappy page or is he more Base Breaker material? I've seen hate for him, and I still continue to see contempt against him to this day.
3. Why is Auto from the Mega Man series hated? He's listed as The Scrappy on Mega Man 7's YMMV page but it doesn't explain why people hate him.
I'd say Chip is more of a Base Breaker, some people find him adorable.
Oissu!x5 They were from an episode that aired about a couple of weeks ago.
A couple of weeks is probably not too recent, but it doesn't hurt to wait a little. It depends on how it is currently. Is it ongoing, or at a break or ended?
I was always under the impression that Tails was decently popular even there (well, classic games). Never struck me as particularly hated. Then again, I've not been part of the fandom.

Were you referring to my suggestion, Another Duck? If so, that meant she counted?
The season is currently in progress.
Tails having a female voice does get some ire, and him getting in the way of Sonic 2 is a legit annoyance.
But he's a very popular character. No way he's a scrappy. It's possible a specific version is(like Sonic the Comic, or Boom, or one that has its own unique universe), at best. And I doubt that. Base Breaker is very doubtful for him at this point, but even then, it depends which page. The Franchise page probably shouldn't have these kinds of tropes due to the unique universes. In other words, the tropes should be specific to a game/anime/cartoon/comic YMMV page instead.
Yes. If I don't point to any post in particular, it's the most recent one, unless context dictates otherwise.
I'd wait until it ends, then, and maybe a week after that if the season finale provokes a lot of opinions related to that.
Check out my fanfiction! That'd make sense for some games. Sonic 2 at times, even if it's mixed.
Just to mention it, but the Aki sisters of Touhou were removed from TheScrappy.Video Games. This is entirely correct, and was agreed upon in the Touhou thread.
While there, I noticed a few dubious examples from Valkyria Chronicles.
There are two Generals, one on the enemy side, and one of the allies. One is the least sympathetic villain out of all characters, and the other is the least sympathetic ally out of all characters. Clear Hate Sinks.
Then there's Edy Nelson, who the example itself lists as a base breaker. She really is, and not The Scrappy.
Any thoughts on that?
Check out my fanfiction!I'd like to submit the DC villain Prometheus. When created by Grant Morrison for his Justice League run he was a reasonably popular character, having the interesting gimmick of being able to match Superman and the Martian Manhunter using only advanced technology. However, he underwent a period of severe Villain Decay that saw him Worf to the likes of Catwoman, and eventually, editorial decided to do something about it... and in the eyes of most fans, went way too far in the other direction, resulting in him becoming, much like the already listed Major Force, so utterly disgusting he ceased to be entertaining.
Most of his panel-time after this point was spent killing minor characters in extremely graphic ways - for instance, he Tele Frags Anima, decapitates Gloss, and rips off Tasmanian Devil's skin and makes it into a rug - before topping even this in the infamously bad Cry for Justice arc by causing the entirety of Star City to collapse, killing hundreds of thousands of people including Red Arrow's adorable daughter Lian. At the arc's conclusion, Lian's Honorary Uncle Green Arrow anticlimactically puts an arrow through Prometheus's eye, ending his career quite literally with a thud. Lian came back in Convergence, but Prometheus remains six feet under, a fitting epitaph for how a good villain can go so, so wrong.
Thoughts?
While anecdotal evidence kind of bugs me, I don't believe I've ever heard anything positive about him from DC fans except in the "he used to be good" sense, so I'm inclined to support that.
I haven't seen much of the Elemental Monkey trio from Pokemon (Pansage, Pansear, Panpour, and their evolutions). They're often either ignored or hated, mostly due to their Crutch Character status. A prime example of this is Simisear, who ended up scoring last place in the Pokemon Election (as a bonus, it got a pity event).

Obsessed with Kid Icarus and OFF. Dabbling into Homestuck thanks to a friend. If you'd like to play some Mario Kart 8 with me, lemme know. The poll wasn't exactly accurate due to the fact that the winner would be distributed as an event mon (so huge bias on the community's part to get stuff that was rare out of it), plus some other stuff that's a bit complicated concerning how the mons were displayed on the webpage. Besides, being ignored is not the same thing as being hated.
Unrelated, but I recently deleted an example on YMMV.Fire Emblem Fates since it was unsure of itself (it mentioned that haters may be outweighing fans for said character in the first sentence).
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?A poll can at most say it's not an absolute favourite character for most people. I mean, if you vote for one character, does that mean you hate all characters you don't vote for? Because that's what you assume if you go by favourite character polls to determine The Scrappy.
Check out my fanfiction!I believe Prometheus did appear recently.
Also, I don't think Prometheus really counts as an example of The Scrappy. He still seems to have his fans. At the very least, he's not an example of a character that the fandom as a whole seems to have a major problem with. Sure, he was handled poorly in Cry For Justice, but so was almost everybody else. He seems to suffer from Deathstroke syndrome in that it depends on the writer.
For we shall slay evil with logic...CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is listed as a scrappy, but it says multiple times on the same page that he's rather well-liked as a protagonist by fans. Sounds like he may be a cut option.
Yeah, that's contrary information, and in those cases I'm more inclined to trust other sources than The Scrappy.

I can't remember the last time I heard anyone say anything negative about Youngster Joey. I was under the assumption that people found him hilarious.
