TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

~Basara-kun recently launched Energetic Outstanding Orange, which is pretty much just "color + trait."

I'm bringing this from this Trope Talk thread from ~Wyldchyld.

I think it should be cut.

- I see? So, Orange Is Energetic is too similar to Red Is Violent? Or it doesn't have as strong a link as the latter does?

If so, then cutting it makes sense...

Should we have a UsefulNotes.Color Theory? (Which we don't have. That's blue 'cause we have WebAnimation.Color Theory.)

A.k.a "Hot colors" and "Cool colors" being Energetic vs. Calm, or something, respectively?

"color + trait" tropes have been put on hold from being made within the last year. I can't remember where it is in ATT, but I can try to find it. The point of that is to let the Appearance Trope clean up thread the ability to finish its job.

It was also launched without having had any replies in nearly 2 months.

Yeah. No. Bad. Just... eurgh.

I thought that was dealt with when we stamped Orange Is Powerful.

Sorry about posting in the wrong place. I don't usually do much with the trope launcher, so I'm not very familiar with how it works.

Its creation seems to have had a stop-start history spanning a couple of years, and concerns with the suggested examples not being addressed by launch. I was aware there was an Appearance clean-up, and it doesn't seem to have been launched with that clean-up in mind.

We could probably use a Colour trope disambiguity page — the way the eye colour tropes were cleaned up (such as the Blue Eyes or Black Eyes pages). A quick clarification on how a colour makes a trope, using some of the colour symbolism tropes that already exist.

So, yeah, as mentioned, a Useful Notes page that acts as a guideline for how and when colours are considered trope-worthy.

Such an Useful Notes page would certainly be interesting. I don't think it's common knowledge what the associations might be, though.

A while ago, right when the "no colour+trait tropes" decision was made, there were a few attempts at a UN for colour associations, all got nuked as being too much like a big list with some extra info.

Was that before or after the Eye Tropes clean-up? Looking at the Eye Tropes, as they stand now, it might be doable, especially when there are pages like Chromatic Arrangement, which gives a brief, workable overview of how the different light-based primary colours are used in storytelling. That's a specific trope, and uses a limited number of colours, but the way it's written up is pretty much how I'd envisage a Useful Notes page working. I don't think it would need to be War and Peace, and I mention that trope solely because it can act as a guideline to keep things as simple (and concise) as possible.

Of course, I don't know what happened when it was attempted last time, so I could be treading old ground.

If you think it'll work, there is no reason not to do it. It was ages ago, too.

So since Caring Gardener just got pointed to from ATT, can I switch the description to my proposal at 5235? At least as a stopgap?

'Cause the current one doesn't make sense with the rename.

Note that, in that thread, it is reported that ~Basara-kun also launched Red Is Violent. While two instances don't make a pattern, it is a bit worrying.

Just noticed that The Short War, launched in 2015, seems to be suspiciously similar to Overnight Conquest, launched in 2012. What to do?

They're really not very similar, except in name. The Short War — a very short war happens, it is notable how short it is and this is mentioned regarding the expected length and the tactics. Overnight Conquest — to establish how powerful and scary an army/nation/enemy is, they are renowned for having completed a conquest by simply walking in.

Romantic Pseudo Fantasy... Is this a real genre? I've never heard of it before... Just from the title, it sounds like it should be Romantic Fantasy, as Pseudo doesn't have much meaning?

It calls Literature.Tales Of The Five Hundred Kingdoms the Trope Maker, but in that series, magic is the cause of basically everything. Problems, solutions, and the romances.

So... They overlap at least, if not Overnight Conquest being a subtrope of The Short War.

Google shows no other hits for "Romantic Pseudo Fantasy". The definition looks like Paranormal Romance as written by someone who wants to bash the genre for having too much romance and not enough fantasy. My inclination would be to nuke it after merging examples to PR.

Bad title, anyway. When I saw Romance Pseduo Fantasy, I thought it meant the kind of romance novel where they slap on a thin layer of unicorns and dragons to make it more exotic- but the story is still the same fill-in-the-form type of the bazillion others out there. To me, this just bashing fantasy that dares be anything but Conan the Barbarian type stuff.

There's no YKTTW for Romantic Pseudo Fantasy: it was created by Septimus Heap in Dec., '16, with the edit comment "Per edit requests thread."

I really have to wonder how that request was phrased that it would persuade someone normally as sensible as Septimus to approve such a thing!

(Or to put it another way: what am I missing here?)

It was originally put into Literature.RomanticPseudoFantasy - an even less appropriate place - and I shifted it to mainspace per this request

So it was, and I even commented at the time, and suggested I'd bring it here...and then promptly forgot. So I guess I'm as guilty as anyone for this remaining unexamined...

Well, it was created by the handle ~Poe Dameron — and looking at the edit history they also have trouble creating links and using namespaces.

My thoughts would be to get rid of it, it boils down to "story in fantasy setting that focuses on romance", which is Paranormal Romance, and we really don't want a page with all the complaining.

might be something for TRS, but Insert Payment to Use and Cast from Money seem awfully similar. And I swear something also very similar to those just got launched out of TLP but I can't find it.
