If Your Life Was A Movie, What Would the Soundtrack Be?

Exactly What It Says on the Tin. To do this, go to your music library (iTunes is ideal) and put it on shuffle. The first song that comes up is your first answer, the second song the second answer, and so on. DONT SKIP, NO MATTER WHAT SONG IT IS!

I did mine yesterday:

Opening Credits: Dirty Little Secret-All American Rejects

Waking Up: If I Dive Too Deep-Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

First Day of School: Nothing Special-illScarlett (in other words, insignificant)

Falling In Love: Concrete Angel-Martina Mc Bride (o_O. I'm gonna get abused?)

Fight Song: Cowboy Casanova-Carrie Underwood

Breaking Up: No Surprise-Daughtry (why am I not surprised?)

Prom: Enchanted-Taylor Swift (perfect!)

Life is good: Our Time Now-Plain White T's (again, perfect)

Mental Breakdown: There's A Fine, Fine Line-Avenue Q

Driving: Touch A Touch A Touch Me-Glee Cast (dirty things in the back of the car, I take it?)

Flashback: The Day Before You-Rascal Flatts (how oddly fitting)

Getting Back Together: Run Joey Run-Glee Cast (no! I'm getting shot!)

Wedding: Don't Lose Hope-Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Paying the Dues: Judas-Lady Gaga

The Night Before the War: Bad Romance-Lady Gaga

Final Battle: Change-Taylor Swift (perfect)

Moment of Triumph: Light Up the World-Glee Cast

Death Scene: 1985-Bowling For Soup (with flashbacks of Springsteen, Madonna, way before Nirvana...)

Funeral: I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today-Avenue Q (LMFAO!)

End Credits: Absolutely [Story Of A Girl]-Nine Days

I don’t even know anymore.

#6: Sep 17th 2012 at 12:06:05 PM

  • Opening: Dan Deacon, "The House I Was Isn't My Girlfriend's Porsche"—Placid, trippy, probably accompanied by Super 8 footage.
  • Waking: Vertical Slit, "My Hands Don't Sleep"—Massive headache, in a rush, get out fast. Quick cuts, quick motions.
  • First School Day: The Deviants, "I'm Coming Home"—New school, already the coolest guy there. (What strange world is this?!)
  • Falling in Love: Severed Heads, "Tarzan's Grip"—Love feels weird. Heart beats quickly, strange thoughts stir, blood rushes. Confusion and ecstasy.
  • Fight: Múm, "Sunday Night Just Keeps On Rolling"—Hmmm... appropriately inappropriate. Soft focus on dark moments.
  • Breakup: A Silver Mt. Zion, "Broken Chords Can Sing A Little"—Angsting quietly in the corner now.
  • Prom: Stars of the Lid, "Austin Texas Mental Hospital, Pt. 2"—So much happening, yet so little, quiet mind in a loud room.
  • Life's Good: Animal Collective, "Too Soon"—Lying on the hood of an old car, watching the stars, high as a kite.
  • Breakdown: Desperate Bicycles, "Paradise Lost"—Oh, the weight of late-stage capitalism, all the dots connecting in montage...
  • Driving: Múm, "Random Summer"—Night-driving with fireworks.
  • Flashback: Polvo, "Every Holy Shroud"—Tense memories of arguments and science books.
  • Getting Back Together: Jandek, "If I Could Be With You"—A jarring realisation of mutual dependence. Bleak, but strangely real.
  • Wedding: Severed Heads, "Blame"—The ceremony was a bit of a blur.
  • Paying the Dues: Jandek, "Walking Blues"—Bad situation indeed. The repo man is a scary bastard.
  • Night Before the War: Stars of the Lid, "Down 3"—A calm before the storm. Lovely.
  • Final Battle: Califone, "2 Sisters Drunk on Eachother"—Apparently this confrontation will be an art-house blacksploitation smack-down.
  • Triumph: Stars of the Lid, "Broken Harbors, Pt. 1"—A pure sense of having found what I was always looking for, in slow motion.
  • Death: Sunroof!, "Luminous Kite"—I am clearly being torn apart by demons here.
  • Funeral: Wooden Wand and the Vanishing Voice, "Hey Pig He Stole My Sound"—I will be buried with great attention to ritual detail.
  • End Credits: The Olivia Tremor Control, "Combinations"*—The bonus footage suggests that I may not be entirely gone...

Well, this will turn out interesting...

  • Opening: O-LIFE.JP - "I Heard There's A Banquet" - A cheerful, party-appropriate melody that sets a pleasant opening mood.
  • Waking: IOSYS - "Star River" — Idyllic, positive, but with a touch of sadness.
  • First School Day: IOSYS - "My Father the Hero" - ...apparently I'll be attending the school of ADVENTURE!
  • Falling in Love: Wind Waker - "The Legendary Hero" - And I fall in love with my co-protagonist.
  • Fight: Dreamcolor Project - "Apparitions Stalk The Night" — We fight in the darkness, to the sound of electric guitars.
  • Breakup: IOSYS - "Hakugyokurou ~ There Aren't Many Denizens of the Netherworld" - Oh, this is sad...but still uplifting...wait, did my love interest die?!
  • Prom: Touhou - "Strange Bird of the Moon, Illusion of Mysterious Cat" - This promises to be a strange and mysterious affair, with both calm and exciting moments. Will I dance with a mysterious stranger?
  • Life's Good: IOSYS - "Cut, Cut, Confusion" — Smiling, dancing, striding into the future...all my hesitations are gone!
  • Breakdown: Touhou - "Silence" — Suspended in inactivity, with danger looming on the horizon...where does my path go?
  • Driving: O-LIFE JAPAN - "Metalesque U.N. Owen Was Her" — A starry night drive that quickly evolves in a frantic battle for my life!
  • Flashback: IOSYS - "Scarlet Boogie" - Flashback to those cheerful and lively olden days...wait, whose flashback is this?
  • Getting Back Together: IOSYS - "Beloved Tomboyish Girl ~ killer Tune" - A calm, jazzy theme symbolizing how my tomboyish girlfriend is brought back from the dead and we find peace together...
  • Wedding: Touhou - "Retribution for the Eternal Night" — Err...apparently we're attacked in the middle of the ceremony and have to defend ourselves. There's a nice moon out, though.
  • Paying the Dues: Touhou - "Magician's Melancholy" - I meet a magician. And dues are paid. Uhm.
  • Night Before the War: XL Project - "starry hope" - A song that shows my loved one and I being separated by the war and hoping that we will survive to meet again...
  • Final Battle: Homestuck - "Ace of Trump" — Err...we apparently play cards to decide the fate of the world, and it just gets more and more exciting.
  • Triumph: Majoras Mask - "Clock Town - Day 3" - Uh-oh...things are looking cheerful, but danger still persists...
  • Death: Ryo Ohnuki - "Rabbit on the moon" — Err...I...uh...I ascend to another plane of existence, apparently. In a trippy manner involving techno. And a moon rabbit. Uhm.
  • Funeral: OC Remix - "Dr Mario Burning Up" - ...and my earthly body is cremated. By doctors of dubious quality.
  • End Credits: Touhou — "Dream of Eternity - Oh hey, ending music for my ending theme. Apparently I get a Good, but not Best Ending. But that's okay.

...BRB, gonna write a book based on this.

If Your Life Was A Movie, What Would the Soundtrack Be?

A bunch of music that had nothing to do with what was going on most likely.

If I had a choice in it? Classic rock. Lots of classic rock.

Waking Up: "Teen Titans Theme" byPuffyAmiYumi (I'm waking up to go fight crime!)

First Day of School: "Generic Blues" by Weird Al Yankovic

Falling In Love: "Baby Don't You Do it" by The Who (Seems a bit preemptive to ask someone not to break your heart when you're falling in love, no?)

Fight Song: "Truman Sleeps" by Philip Glass (Clearly a statement on the futility of fighting and violence in the modern world.)

Breaking Up: "MicroGames Theme 08" from Super Smash Bros Brawl (It was a short, unromantic relationship anyway.)

Prom: "Drive My Car/The Word/What You're Doing" by The Beatles (It's a period piece set in either 2007 or the '60s, I assume.)

Alright, I'll try this out.

Opening credits: Under Pressure. That can't bode well...

Waking up: the theme from Raising Arizona. Yeah.

First day of school: Who Are You - The Who. Guess I don't know anybody at school, then.

Falling in Love: Wrong 'Em Boyo - The Clash. The music itself is actually surprisingly fitting.

Fight Song: Youth Culture Killed My Dog - They Might Be Giants. "The hip hop, and the white funk just blew away my puppy's MIIIIIIIIIIND!"

Breaking Up: Ana Ng - They Might Be Giants (again. Expect a few from them). Kind of ironic, as this is technically a love song, but I guess the tune fits.

Prom: Baba O'Riley - The Who.

Life is Good: Bitchin' Camaro - The Dead Milkmen. HA! "My parents drove it up from the Bahamas." "Oh wow, you're kidding." "I must be, the Bahamas are islands."

Mental Breakdown: Blitzkreig Bop - The Ramones. Huh. Intense.

Driving: Brand New Cadillac - The Clash. Need I say more?

Flashback: Burning Down The House - Talking Heads

Getting Back Together: The Card Cheat - The Clash

Wedding: Cars - Gary Numan. Bit of an... odd choice.

Paying the Dues: Clampdown - The Clash. Almost every song from London Calling is on my iPod, for those who are wondering...

The Night Before the War: Cool for Cats - Squeeze. What?

Final Battle: Crash - The Primitives. What?

Moment of Triumph: Dare to be Stupid - Weird Al. I can't help but crack up at this.

Death Scene: Death or Glory - The Clash. The word "death" is right there in the title.

Funeral: The Distance - Cake.

End Credits: DOMINICK THE DONKEY. Ohhhhhhhh jeez...

I don't have an iPod, iTunes and my MP 3 is kinda broken, so let's use Windows media player (hey, you gotta use what's at your disposal). So, let's go:

Opening Credits: "Halleluhwah" - Can - FUCK YEAH!

Waking Up: "Fotzepolitic" - Cocteau Twins - Nice!

First Day of School: "Ne Dis Rien" - Serge Gainsbourg

Falling In Love: "Don't Do It" - New Order (oh dear...)

Fight Song: "Ice Water" - Cat Power (Mismatch, although it would be useful to heal the wounds...)

Breaking Up: "Move On" - David Bowie (it's quite right for this moment)

Prom: "Undo" - Bjork (it would be interesting for the kiss, the make-out, or after the afterparty)

Life is good: "Wrote For Luck" - Happy Mondays (Dancing like I'm on fire!)

Mental Breakdown: "Poor Boy" - Nick Drake (Excellent choice!!)

Driving: "Surfing On A Rocket" - Air (Sounds good...)

Flashback: "Flight" - A Certain Ratio (Nice for those mind trips)

Getting Back Together: "Pillar To Post" - Aztec Camera (the lyric is a bit ambiguous)

Wedding: "Down In The Tube Station At Midnight" - The Jam (unrelated, in a certain way - the song is about a guy who wants to go back home to his wife, but he's beaten up by a bunch of "right wing" thugs. Ouch!)

Paying the Dues: "I Might Be Wrong" - Radiohead

The Night Before the War: "Stoned To Say The Least" - Saint Etienne

Final Battle: "Bison" - The Fireman

Moment of Triumph: "Medley: Ike's Mood I/You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" - Isaac Hayes

Death Scene: "Lifestyle" - Elektric Music (completely unrelated)

Funeral: "La Forme" - Kraftwerk (Lol! it's a song on the album Tour De France Soundtracks)

End Credits: "Fame" - David Bowie (here's a good way to end, I think).cool
