Every now and then I subject myself to a Lifetime movie just to see how they'll make men irremediably evil or shoehorn a sex is bad message in. I got in to Harry Potter because I had an hour and a half commute to work every day and I figured they had been out long enough that I might as well read them. I still only did them on tape. Turned out I loved it. I also watch Americas Next Top Model in the hopes that they will fall on the runway. It's particularly delightful when they do.
I started watching My Little Pony because I love the Creepypastas so much, Rainbow Factory being my favorite XD
When you live your dream you'll find destiny is written in your heart.I used to watch most anime for the art.
Most often I end up disappointed.
I used to watch Stargate SG 1 because I thought it was cool.
That is until I realized it was really well-written.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseI finally decided to read Homestuck because my boyfriend used a really striking fan drawing of Bec Noir as his avatar.
On a less thrilling note, I bought Eragon when I was about thirteen for two reasons: The cover, and envy of the author for getting published at his age.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I watch MLP in the mornings while I eat because my overactive imagination makes me think gross stuff for whatever reason and the show is pretty tame in that department. I also watch Sophia the First for the same reason. I'd say that's a pretty petty reason! ^^
I get into a lot of video games because Xbox Live has them for free.
This◊ is the only reason I started watching Supernatural
"I could eat a knob at night" - Karl PilkingtonI've watched a few things because they were all over my dashboard on Tumblr and I wanted to know what the hell everyone was talking about.
Stupid doomed timeline...This is why I watch MLP. Or I should say, it's why I enjoy watching it - I had given the show a whirl before and honestly found it rather meh.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswI watched Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen after I swore I wouldn't just to see how Michael Bay did Soundwave. I was disappointed.
Originally I started watching Lost Girl because of the cute gothy sidekick, Kenzi. Then I realized it was a badass show.
I've watched a couple of things out of spite for people telling me they were awful.
Flyer than an ostrich, moshin' in a tar pit...For the irony value.
Sometimes I watch shows if a lot of people on this site seem to like it or I see that it gets mentioned on a lot of trope pages.
Watched Twin Peaks because I heard that Deadly Premonitions took a lot of cues from it. I couldn't be arsed to wrestle the horrific controls and other flaws of Deadly Prem. any more, so just switched to Twin Peaks.
Having completed Twin Peaks, I now want to play Deadly Prem. again XD
"Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen."I watched the ADV dub of the first Macross series because I read Minmay was voiced by her Japanese voice actress.
Is that racist?
I started watching Cowboy Bebop because I like the intro song.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I decided to check out Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann due to the absurd number of references I kept seeing to it.
Checked out Adventure Time because for a while it was on right before something else (probably Pinky And The Brain) and trust me, seeing the end of an episode of that with no context whatsoever sure does make a person curious. That and when I expressed interest in finding out what the hell it was, my dad said it was horrible and that I shouldn't.
Bought Elite Beat Agents due to its habit of appearing on the aforementioned What Do You Mean, It Wasn't Made on Drugs? and similar pages.

If you are not very careful, your possessions will posses youI tried School Days simply because I'd heard about the endings and decided I wanted a run of them myself.
I also had a try of Hatoful Boyfriend because somebody suggested that I'd enjoy it just for how absurd it can be, all while being compelling.
And then there's a couple of lesbian visual novels I tried simply because the good endings feature decent romance and relationships - which may not seem like much unless you know how grating badly done lesbian romance is.
"Did you expect somebody else?"FLCL is the only anime series I've ever sat down and watched, and it was solely due to the music. That is to say, I was watching some of Proton Jon's old Let's Play videos (those Mario ROM Hack ones), and in some of the videos he has music from the FLCL soundtrack playing in the background. Loved it enough to look it up and buy the soundtrack off of Amazon, and that finally convinced me to watch the series. I was not disappointed. (Consequently, all this also got me into The Pillows.)
This is also the same reason I started playing Jet Set Radio. Let me put it this way, Proton Jon has really great taste in media. (RELATED: The Runaway Guys got me to watch Clone High.)
For non-internet-people-related and more slightly embarrassing stuff, a lot of the new music I've exposed myself to in the past couple of years (e.g. Radiohead, Talking Heads, The Beautiful Girls) or so was due to crushes—either they recommended them or I started listening to them because they listen to them. On the plus side, though, now I'm a huge Smiths fan and I'm really happy to have been exposed to them.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I saw some post on The Unpopular Opinions tumblr about Evan Peters and a character he was playing and that's how I got addicted to American Horror Story.
byeI found Ms Marvel to be pretty hot in Marvel Ultimate Alliance, so when I saw one of the Brian Reed-written books on sale, I picked it up. I hope DeConnick writes the character better because I wasn't impressed by Reed's work (aside from Machine Man).
On that note, I tend to read a lot of comics simply because a movie is in the works, and I like being able to say that I knew of it "before it was cool". To be fair, it's led to me discovering some really awesome series, like The Avengers and Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)
I got into Evangelion after flicking on End one night, and waiting around for tits. I was 12 at the time.
:D
